They tried running 6/12 OE last weekend at commerce but the game didn't look too good.

Hawaiian Gardens is running a 6/12 half omaha 8, half stud 8 that's been going everyday.

Have you talked to any of these 40NL degens? Occasionally I have to mingle with them when I play a stupid mega million donkament, and let me tell you most of them think they're winning players. Even the ones that know they're losing just tell themselves they run bad and that they'd be a winner too if they only didn't get sucked out on so much. The 40NL-200NL in commerce hasn't fluctuated for the past 5 years because everyone can afford to dump $40-200 a night and no one at those stakes has enough brain cells to figure out how to use a spreadsheet. Its 100% in commerce's best interest to rake the **** out of those tards, and for the most part the fish enjoy it.

Are there any LA 2+2ers who live in the Diamond Bar/Rowland Heights/Chino Hills area (or even the outlying areas) who can give me some good restaurant recommendations for healthy cuisine?

I haven't been around that area for years despite my having lived in Diamond Bar 6 years ago, so I am currently clueless about the healthy cuisine options among the restaurants in that general area.

Only been out there a few times but there should be a lot of options, especially if you like Asian food. Also depends on your type of diet.

New to the forums. Only played 1/2 at Commerce, bike, and Hollywood Park. Finally realizing it's better to risk the money and play right, so eager to try the 2/3 max buyin at the bike. Would love to go with some 2+2 to learn and chat. Pm if you're a regular or up for a table mate.

Really enjoyed some of these threads! Dgiharris and others. Thanks to everyone!

Do you really think anyone is just going to hand you the keys to their goldmines? Do the work yourself and try out different games and find what works for you. There are more games running in LA then pretty much anywhere else in the country. I'm sure you can find a 5$ blind game that isn't nitty with minimal effort
I hope people don't think my previous post is trying to do this. I just like the social aspect and want to improve and like the community here.

I seen the recent posts about mixed games. Wondering if there's any games that are just PLO8, Big O, or limit O8 in LA or surrounding area? Looking for at least 10/20 limits for O8.

You're looking at 20/40 EO at the Bike and Hollywood Park

The 20/40 OE at Bicycle goes almost every day, usually starting around 1pm.
I haven't been to HP in a long time, but the guys at Bicycle have told me the game rarely goes there anymore.

The 6/12 EO at Hawaiian Gardens is a much better game than any of the Omaha or EO games at the Bike, IMNSHO.

Based on my experience, the Bike has the tightest Omaha and EO games among the big card rooms in SoCal.

Yeah, and the 2/4 stud high games at the Bicycle are even looser, but not sure how that is relevant. Lower limit games are almost always looser than higher limit games. No matter how good a 6/12 game is, it's going to be barely beatable by even the best player due to the $7 rake.

Every game that's been a 6/12 has never been good IME..

Hi all, long time member here(multiple screen names in the past lol). I used to be a limit holdem grinder in college when I was living in Cali. Even before I turned 21, I was hitting up Commerce and Oceans 11 while underage, and even hit a jackpot at Commerce while underage and without an ID haha.

Grinded the 8/16 games at Hawaiian Gardens, and the 9/18 and 20/40 games at Commerce. Interestingly, I've never been to The Bike. HG and Commerce are both right off the freeway, so I never bothered to try the Bike.

I've been living abroad for the past several years but I'm gonna be going back to Cali this month for a few months. Planning to do a lot of grinding. Would like to know the state of games in LA these days.

I have since moved from LHE to PLO so I plan to grind mostly PLO. What kind of PLO games do they have at Commerce, HG, and The Bike? Stakes and softness?

But live PLO is soooo slow and boring. So if I'm not feeling it then I can always switch back to my original game of LHE. What kind of LHE do they have now? And are they still as soft as before?!

My knowledge of those games is stale, so I can't help you there, but from I-710 The Bike is about the same distance off the freeway as HG, maybe a bit closer.

Same limit games generally.

And yeah, Bike is right off the freeway.

I heard today that they will be offering $1.50/hour in food comps now and they will be scanning your cards every hour to track it.

BTW: the food portions are now really small in preparation for this event.

So much food goes to waste anyway. Probably a good thing.

Yeah, first time I took my wife to sit behind me she was in shock when she saw people ordering 3 entres, take a couple bites from each, and throw away 80% of food.

I think the comps plus pay for food will be pretty neutral for me as I only eat one time in a 4-5 hour session anyways and tend To get basic stuff. Probably will cost the food servers some tip $$. I doubt I am gonna tip $5 on a $10 meal I am paying for.

I have played the 6-12 EO. It Is the same as split pot low limit games anywhere. Pretty good with a few bad players but unbeatable without due to high rake if noone is playing real bad.

Would be nice to know a few 2+2ers who play in la. I'm a small stakes nl player and play the 100 and 40 at commerce a few times week. Don't have any friends out here who are into poker as much as me so it would be nice if someone wanted to meet up, have a beer, bull****, whatever while at the casino. Going to be there later like midnight when I get out of work. PS had a beer at the bar next to sexton last night after the main event ended. My closest l.a run in with a poker hall of famer.

Some advice...i would avoid playing the NL100 and especially the 40 game due to the rake amount relative to the average pot amounts. GL

I know I know the rake is ridiculous especially with short buyin games here. But the players are just lolbad and I don't have the roll to play higher. Is it that big of a difference between the 200 which is 40bb or the 100 which is 33? Seems like the horrendous play at 100 and 40 make it more worthwhile than stretching my roll at the 200 and not feeling as comfortable. I have only played the 200 twice. One time because I recognized don cheadle and wanted to play with him. Another time showing off the hundos to impress a lady friend I brought( I lost a lot of money like ~1400 that I really couldn't afford to lose)a Both times games were full of people who actually knew what position was and that here was a fold option which put them leagues above the average 40 player.

I am a limit player. I sometimes play in NL200 waiting for my games. I would say most of the time I am playing most of the players are competent. To be honest I am not sure the "average" 40NL or 200NL is beatable due to the high rake, the former mainly due to the rake/pot size ratio and the latter due to the high rake + most of the players are decent. And the higher you go the players are just gonna keep getting better.

I think in Los Angeles unless you are real talented and have a big role it is real tough to beat any poker game, especially small-mid stakes NL where the average exploitable player plays a weak tight style, which is hard to beat given the rake because the optimal strategy would entail contesting/stealing a lot of small pots.

I know the forum tendency is to say LOL Los Angeles fish, they are all horrendous and the games are a goldmine, but in reality I think Los Angeles games are pretty tough as most of the players (even the losers) are regulars and have a clue. Throw in the rake and high cost of living and trying to eke out a living being a professional poker player is a real daunting task.
