Are there safe casino shuttle services in any surrounding areas?

Any info appreciated.
There aren’t any casino shuttles, you’ll be driving yourself or Uber/Lyft.

Commerce (the city) is small population but spread out, almost all industrial. There won’t be anything to rent that’s very near the casino because there simply isn’t any residential within several miles. Lots of neighboring cities that tend to be middle/working class and down from there. If you want nicer than that, you’ll have to expand the radius.

I just don't want to get robbed really. Is crime an issue in surrounding areas like Montebello?

My personal experience with Montebello is that is should be avoided, but YMMV. If you're smart and know how to stay out of trouble you should be fine....

Mainly just rent a car and you'll be fine. Don't do public transportation in those areas although you'll probably still be fine but better safe than sorry.

Crime can be an issue anywhere. I don’t think of the area as crime-ridden or anything (those areas do exist though). Montebello is just one of many somewhat nondescript blue collar suburbs that populate that part of the LA area. There will be perfectly fine neighborhoods and some scrubby ones too. Guess it all depends on specifically where you will be.

I'm an OS visitor who's played and stayed at the Commerce dozens of times and frequently driven over to Montebello for food, laundromat, haircut etc. without a problem.

If I didn't stay at the commerce or the Bike, probably wouldn't think twice about getting an Airbnb in Montebello.

I'm staying in downtown la in June and probably heading to the bike or commerce one afternoon.

My only option is Uber*, i don't Uber much is there much of an issue with ubering from one of the casinos?

*My company doesn't reimburse rental cars for la, London and NYC trips because Uber is cheaper.

You won’t have any trouble getting Uber or Lyft.

I will be in a LA for a week looking for mixed games up to 20/40.
I saw that Hollywood Park has 20/40? Anybody knows if it runs daily, what games?
Other LA area Casinos? Las time I stayed at Bicycle but they don't have any mix games.

Occasionally Hustler has a $4/$8 Big O (5 card LO8) and super stud mix. If you find other mixed games in town, post them please.

Hawaiian Gardens runs a 12/24 BigO/7-Stud mix game that runs every day.

Sounds like a good game. How was the clientele? Please update if this runs again. Kind of a long drive from OC, but might be worth while...

Two of the people are hosts. It's a 7-handed table, except for the super stud round where one of the hosts sits out so you can get 4 down cards. Otherwise they deal 3 down for super stud if it's 7-handed.

The clientele skews a little on the older side. One guy who looks to be in his early 30s is the outlier. Most seem happy to be playing *anything* besides hold 'em and Omaha and were having a good time.

The exception was one lady who let it be known REPEATEDLY that she doesn't like anything besides super stud, razz, and Big O and threatened to sit out or leave if we didn't take the badugi, 2-7, and double board Omaha rounds out. She didn't realize that a threat doesn't have the desired effect if the target of your threat wants you to follow through on it.

I had no friggin' clue if I was making total donk plays on the double board Omaha and I loved every second of it!

I started playing there regularly mainly because they handle a-hole players better than Commerce, which was my old mainstay. I also like that it has a smaller feel than Commerce, which feels like a poker warehouse by comparison. The downside is generally fewer games going than in other rooms.

I've seen claims that the games at Hawaiian Gardens are wilder and looser, but in my experience they are pretty wild at Hustler and when I've been to HG it didn't seem that different.

I still visit other rooms (Commerce, HG, and The Bike) every couple of months just to see what's up, but I like Hustler the best.

Have you been playing it?
Is there enough interest to get a 20/40 going?

I've been playing it off and on depending on how bored I am with hold 'em. They put an interest list up for $10/$20 but I haven't seen that go.

I don't know these games well enough to want to play $20/$40. $5/$10 is fine for ****ing around.

Thinking about moving to LA. Could anyone recommend a nice area to get an apartment, that's not insane expensive, and not too far off a drive from the bike / commerce / etc.

Say, 45 mins or less. 2 grand monthly, don't have to worry about my place / car being broke into.
