I disagree, I'm expecting 7 Mile to have better action during that period

well 7 mile doesnt have 5/10 NL anymore, just 5/10 PLO. thats why i said most likely LA, since you get to choose between presumedly 10 diff games in LA versus the 1 PLO in san diego.

At the Bike, I don’t know about NL, but the LHE games they take a dollar for the BBJP every hand. The SB pays it.

The dollar the SB gives is not for the BBJP, that's for the house collection (next time notice which hole it gets dropped in). At Commerce in certain games the SB gives $2, one for the house collection and one for the BBJP.

I see. I just know they take a dollar every hand, which is ridiculous imo.

I just accept that house is always gonna get paid, so the $1 house collection doesn't surprise or bother me. What bothers me is Commerce taking an extra buck toward a promotion you have zero chance of hitting because the action is concluded before the flop. So in the smallest games the SB gets his entire SB taken. lol

I find many other things about the Commerce much more bothersome. However, I play there almost exclusively these days.

I used to play there exclusively for years. And yeah, there are other aspects that are worse.

But to my surprise, last time I played there they were on top of the issue of players trying to seat themselves or change tables by themselves and bypass the board. It used to be the wild west in there. The lack of oversight was symptomatic of their overall issue of not managing the room well. So it has gotten marginally better.

The BBJP thing is just additional salt in the wound.

Working in Redondo Beach area near the 405 for the next month or so and would like to play some LHE ($4/$8 - $6/$12 range). What would be my best option considering there are a number of casinos within half an hour or so. TIA.

Hustler should be the closest. I've never played limit there but the nl games have been good every time I've gone

The 25 game at Hustler is great, so I imagine the lower limit games would be as well.

I don't know of any place in LA that spreads anything under $8/$16 other than $4/$8 anymore. My first choice would be Hustler. Second would be The Bike. Third would be Hollywood Park which is closer than The Bike, but not as nice imo.

Bear in mind that the rake for the $4/$8 is obscene. $5 per hand PLUS a $1 bad beat jackpot collection. That's right, 1.5 big blinds per hand. At $8/$16 it's $6+$1. Still high, but better in terms of bb.

Bike nicer than Hollywood Park? Hollywood Park is brand new.

I know. I've been to both recently and stand by my statement.

I guess maybe it's just me. The gaming floor feels kinda dumpy at the Bike to me compared to say Gardens or Hollywood Park.

Thanks all - looks like the Hustler is about 5 miles/15 minutes from my hotel. I'll give it a try once work gets out of my way.

I’d take Bike over HP too. Yes they cleaned up HP but there’s still a scuzzy feel to the place that I can’t really put my finger on. Maybe it’ll always be the same dump in my mind.

The clientele are just as scuzzy as ever: HP is the first casino I’ve ever been at where a fist fight broke out at a poker table. Also some very questionable characters who frequent the dailies. The 5/5+ room in the back is super sexy though, that’s the place to be imo.

I’ve played enough at the Bike to see all kinds of scum but that just comes with the terrain. Still my #1 choice most of the time.

Any info as to how safe it is around commerce casino? are there specific pockets to avoid if renting an Airbnb? I'm looking and it seems possible to find places for about 40/night in Montebello and some surrounding areas, not sure what the catch is. Are there safe casino shuttle services in any surrounding areas?

Any info appreciated.
