I don't think i have the stamina to play £2/£5. My usual level is £1/£2.
Last time, i played in a smaller room near Queensway station on the unique 1/2 table.
3 Asians gamblers, 1 casual local, 1 reg, 2 eastern europe guys... lot of small talk... really fun.

Now it is time for me to find a nice flatshare in Hammersmith. Starting in April ! Will try http://www.moveflat.com/
I work in Hammersmith and live in Wandsworth. You can get bus very easily (220) from Wandsworth / Putney that goes to Hammersmith and you can get alot more for your money in those areas. Also in terms of playing poker you can get 87 bus back to Wandsworth from nr Leicester Sq (Empire / Fox) all night.

Has anyone played at The Mint? I'm only really interested in cash games 1/2+, do these ever run there?

Putney and Wimbledon are nice. Earls court isnt so great. Victoria has some of the most expensive real estate in the world. If you have money to burn and want to live next to embassies and oil sheiks then Belgravia is for you!

Might play the betfair comp at the fox this weekend. Has anyone played at the Russell Sq casino (Gala?)? I've heard on the grapevine they have had some good 1/2 games of late. I don't mind straddles. If you were on my 1/1 table and complaining about straddles I would straddle everytime and raise your blind every time. Of course I would get 5 callers and probably do about 100 but not the point.

Is there definitely poker at the Russell sq? It used to be one of the two places in town that had it but them stopping led to the Gutshot.

OK I can clear up some poker related questions about these places you are mentioning.

Gala Russell Square does have both cash tables and tournament poker, see cut and paste below:

"Texas Hold’Em Cash games
Everyday, 20:00 hrs – Till late

£50-£500 sit-down dealer dealt cash game. Complimentary soft drinks and valet parking, smoking balcony next to the tables."

Gala Tottenham Court Road also has 1/1 holdem but no tourneys.

There is another place that is better than both those but im keeping it under my hat....or until ive at least had a few beers with you guys hahahaha..

If you are French then you may want to look at moving into Kensington as there's a very high concentration of French people around West London. There are a fair few boulangeries, cafes and 'proper' wine merchants. May reduce your home sickness if you're the sort who suffers from it.

Sorry for the double post - for those who have been to Aspers - do they usually have a table going? Is the standard as weak as the Empire?

Is the poker at Russell Square still downstairs? If so I might have to go there soon for the oldskool vibes.

Does the Sportsman still spread poker?

Also try spareroom.com if you're after a flatshare. It's worth paying the additional $ and getting numbers straight away - flats go v quickly in london.

Gl in your search (i live in east london so no help i'm afraid!)

Very good point. If you see somewhere you like, don't mess about as someone else will take it.

Also, go through a reputable site. There are a lot of scammers about these days preying on accommodation deposits from overseas - partly opportunists due to the Olympics being in town this year.

Thats right, use these guys www.interlet.com, they charge a reg fee of £99 but its WELL WORTH IT, as they have cheaper rents than you can find on say Gumtree, and they will text/email you guaranteed flats to go visit everyday.

Ive used them 3 times in London and they have done the job every time.

You rock guys.
And obv i prefer to burn my money on a backdoor flush draw than in my rent.

My new Job will start on April, 9th.
I still don't know when i am able to leave France.
Probably April 1st.

Meaning less than 1 week to visit flats and be chosen.

Paris is just a couple of hours via Eurostar, right? You should hop over some weekend to research some areas, hit a casino or two, etc <g>

Played online last night for the first time in forever. I have a tiny tiny bankroll online so, basically just dicking around. Second hand, I have KQs on the button, I raise a few limpers, one caller, flop KKJr. Bet / call, turn is a T giving me a flush and straight draw. Bet / raise / re-raise all-in / call, turn is a brick and the other guy has pocket Jacks. FFS.

About 30 minutes later with AJs in MP, eventually get it all-in on the turn with top-two pair and a flush draw against a 45/3 fish with pocket 7s who of course rivers a 7. FFS.

Having lost two buy-ins in about 30 minutes I recall why I don't play online anymore.....feels like you can lose money so much faster!!!!

Sorry - should we go back to discussing which poker venue in London has the softest game?

Played at the Empire for the first time last night; managed to get stuck £370 with a slew of comedy hands, rounded off with AA<AJ. Very soft games, the regs seemed barely capable. £10 rake cap was brutal, but I was informed that games at the weekend were great so probably overcome the rake quite quickly.

Also, definitely worth noting, had some of the best dealers I have ever come across. Great professional/friendliness/ability/table control. One of the younger girls got a little impatient with slow action, but apart from that they were very good.

Thinking of going to Aspers tonight. Not in the mood for online. Will there be 2/5NL tables going for the night there or might there be none?

I have never seen anything higher than 1/2 spread at aspers, and that seems to play smaller than some 1/1 tables.

Will be playing 1/1 for a few hours tomorrow night at aspers if anyone is about.
