may have spoken too soon on 2/5s at Empire, they may have just been super deep 1/2 games... empire had four 1/2 games when i showed up at 8pm last night and six or seven 1/2 games when i left at midnight

vic on the other hand has always had one 2/5 running when i showed up, even 5 pm on wednesday, usually just one though

Played the afternoon tourney @ The International, really like it there. Wish the structure was a tad slower though

Going to london late October. Wanna play some poker on Friday night, prob a touney then some cash, or even just cash. My mate will wanna play in a touney sub £50 and I'll play any cash upto 1/2. Where's the best on friday?

I'm in London on business. After an awesome Indian dinner, took in the sights (walked from Westminster to Empire via Buckingham Palace, Piccadilly etc.

Sadly, found the room equal to TI in size, with a long list for all games, tourney was finishing up (winner taking £610). Room wasn't particularly inviting, and decided not to bother. Maybe for WSOPE it'll be crackin, but to me, room looked lame.

It is very lame, it's okay if youre grinding £1/2 live cash I guess

I'd definitely suggest the international instead

No hoodies. Dont make the mistake of going in just a hoodie and nothing underneath

uh, last time I went (August) I'm pretty sure you had to show membership card at the reception at Empire...

you do not need to be a member to enter the empire. you do need to have id with you if you don't look very old (i'm 25 and rarely get stopped, jipster is older but he regularly gets stopped for id by the bouncers), and you need to register as a member i believe if you want to cash out more than £200 at the cashier.

Last edited by *TT*; 09-25-2009 at 04:56 AM. Reason: You need to be a member to gamble, no membership needed to enter.

I cashed out £450 cash money my first trip to the Empier after sitting down at 1/2 with £200. (highest point my stack was was about 650 but then I hit set under set) Anyway, didn't have to register as a member or anything.

I plan to start playing live poker in London soon, but about 13 years ago I got banned from all the main casino chains for card counting at blackjack. The Empire was not build at the time so I’m not banned there. I was banned from the Vic. Will I be able to play there if I stay away from the blackjack tables?

Played at the Empire last weekend. The dealer was really doing a poor job shuffling the cards! After a hand was over he just flipped the community cards face down, didn`t really bother to "mix" them around on the table just piled them together, shuffled like twice, cut the deck while it was still in his hand and started dealing the next hand..

I didn`t comment on it since the players were so bad I wanted to get dealt as many hands as possible, but still... I`ve played a bit around Europe and in Las Vegas and this is the first time I`ve noticed it.

Also noticed: I sat there for maybe 2 hours the same dealer never left the table. I asked him if he ever gets a break he said no. I used to live in Estonia for 2 years, the dealers there worked like 30 mins on 30 mins off when they were on a shift.. don`t know what`s normal for dealers, but that he didn`t get a single break for like 2 hrs+ surprised me.

While a hand was in progress the dealer also told a bad beat story, all in preflop KcTc vs AcAh, he flopped a flush and a str8 flush draw but lost on the river!

I also witnessed one of the worst acting jobs I`ve seen at a poker table, big chinese guy sits down and raises the first hand he is dealt. Turns the nutflush and makes a great speak before both check-raising the turn and betting the river. Doubt that was the reason he got paid off though.. ppl in that game called with everything.

A break even online player could crush that £1-2 game if he bothered.

I sort of consider moving to London next year to follow Spurs and grind it out, but after this weekend I don`t know if I still want to do that after all? Why? SO ****ING CROWDED EVERYWHERE it`s a joke.. people all over, I was walking like 1 mph on Oxford Street on monday at 2pm, had to give up.. also all the pubs in Leicester Square and Soho were ABSOLUTELY packed.. underground packed at all times.. too much people for a friendly norwegian fellow
