Good point. But if the game's fair then I'll go where the fish swim. At least I know they're taking a rake off each game and I'm not likely to see the benefit of it anyway.

Crooked games are a different thing entirely - anyone running a fixed game should be sent to prison IMHO.

I don't think it's a fair game: you're being raked another £1 from each pot, which works out as roughly neutral EV (once BBJ hits a certain amount). If they take money from the BBJ, that extra rake becomes negative EV. They aren't paying out what they said they would.

*I hate BBJs.

*If there's one I wish there were no admin fee on it and total transparency about the way the money is allocated.

However, I really don't think comparing the Empire to UB is fair.

this, except;

can't be vitriolic enough in one's criticism of the Empire or Cereus etc. so funny how most people just selectively apply their 'principles' in life, lmao pathetic, have some ****ing sack and don't contribute to criminal enterprises knowingly

I know what you mean, and it's lousy what they did. But my distinction is that I know there's another quid going out of the pot anyway, and I know my chance of seeing that again in a BBJ payout is very tiny (even if they didn't skim it).

It's bad, yes, and I'm not defending what they did. But my point is it would be a heck of lot worse having cheating in the actual game.

Still, I agree with you and I don't think I will play there unless they get rid of the BBJ.

So what other places are good for lower stakes cash (200NL) games in London?

as far as the dress code is concerned, the empire lets you plat even in shorts.
the vic does not. tshirt is the best you can go for

At least now they allow hooded jumpers, they used to be a pain with those too.

The fox does 1/1 and 1/2. The Vic does 1/1 and 1/2. I don't know the International that well, but they surely do at least 1/2. Those plus the Empire are the four big rooms in town.

Not that this affects me (I'm perma shirt & blazer), but: You can't actually wear the hood during cash games in the Vic though (the cameras can't tell who you are). You can during tournaments, for some arcane reason.

You mean you cannot put the hood on but you still can wear the jumper, right? That was my understanding.

A few London pubs that are involved in that "Champion Poker League" have cash games after the weekly tourney.
Anyone know of any pubs with good action?

Yeah if it wasn't in the arse end of nowhere and it wasn't a satelite I'd be keen. I like that they have .25/.5 ring games- but again, the location is the clincher.

And 2 ads in 24hrs killing a thread ain't cool

Good job - one question, does membership take 48 hours to process?

I was there last night and the temperature was just fine. I'll probably be there tonight also.

^^^ Cheers , I got "distracted" by other activities and cancelled the session. Perhaps tomorrow night.

/I was there a few hours ago, temperature was fine, ran really bad with the dealers, had 1 guy constantly watching the tennis and just letting the players sort out the action until the end of the street and another guy who constantly pauses shuffling/dealing to tell stories/crack jokes and when someone doesn't put their blind in, instead of telling them, he just sits there looking away until someone realizes and tells the guy to put his blind in.

It tilts me so much that I have to do the dealers job for them, and even experienced poker players sometimes just sit there in a daze not knowing wtf is going on when it's their turn to act, and I end up looking like an ass coz I'm the one tapping the table hard in their face going 'it's on you I SAID IT'S ON YOU'. christ!

I only have about £100 to play this month, am thinking of going to the fox for their 1/1 game to build up a bigger role to maybe play at the empire on a fri or sat night.
Good shout? Or should I just wait for next month when I have more of a BR?
