How do I go about getting membership at the International? I have a player who lives in London that I would assume is a member, do I need to bring him along or will some nice guys hanging around the club help me sign up/join?
This may help you

Ive got 200 quid to burn on poker this friday night- wondering if i should buy in for 200 at the 1/2 table at empire (min50/max400) and try my luck against the drunks and tourists that are more likely to be at the Empire, or if I should buy in for max at the 1/1 game at the fox.
Am I right in thinking the fox would have less tourists/juicy action?

can we please stop suggesting the empire please? seems to me on a par with suggesting online newcomers put their money in ub.

I know I know, I only go there because it is so central, angle shooters and regs getting special treatment is horrible but it is also so juicy!

Hopefully with the Fox staying open until 6am and then hopefully 24hr in July, they will start spreading games bigger than 1/1 and other than holdem.

1/2nl gets going pretty regularly at the fox, rake is much better than the 1/1 game.

Hampstead/Highgate is a great spot to live in London, I couldnt recomment it enough.

Well I had an epic run at the empire,
My table was full of hyper aggressive raisers who then overplayed average holdings post flop- left with a much fatter wallet for next time.

Thanks for the advice Snitchbomb

I can't sit at the same table as Helen, she tilts me so bad.
London Quote

I don't get why she'd tilt anyone. She just gives you her money. And she's pretty funny.

Once she goes all in with queens and says "Just bring me some girls please" to the dealer. The flop comes KKJ and she says "No! That's all boys! I told you girls! Don't you know the difference?"

She's a gigantic troll, maybe you've only caught her on her good days, but she's out to cause trouble and she's had several hundred years of experience in how to do that best. I agree that once you get used to her shtick, it becomes easier.

Ah. I don't think there's a troll in existence that can annoy me, particularly in live poker. I enjoy when people try though, particularly when they aren't very good at cards.

Maybe this is a hidden benefit of going to the Empire

Capital Christ,

The Nugget only run £1/£1 games with a £150 max buy-in and even then you're only looking at a ~8PM start and just one or two tables. They're fine if you wanna slow down but nowhere near as lucrative as The Empire.

The standard of player at The Vic is generally considered to be better with its fair share of old-timers nitting it up. If you don't mind sweating a few hands then the wild games at The Empire are much better. Despite what some say about the alleged corruption of the bad beat jackpot, The Empire is still definitely the way to go and I put this as my personal number one any day of the week.

Yep, heard Helen a mile off at The Fox on Saturday night and she was on form: loud, argumentative, winding up staff, the usual - smashing!

I don't know how much alleged there is. They admitted to taking money from the BBJ to spend on other promotions. That's pretty broken. Plus the muggings immediately outside (not that Gutshot was immune to that), plus cutting the poker room off from the casino floor. I went there for the opening night, the first WSOPE night and a couple of other major events, but I'm giving it a miss from now on.

Edit: Did I mention the hugely expensive pints?

They added seats to the wsope qualifiers they ran last year. Woohoo, added money! Except it was added from the bad beat bonus. It's fraud, and I expect the only reason nothing will be done about it is that the gaming commission is in Harrahs pockets.

The games being good is no excuse to support corrupt, fraudulent pokerrooms. There are other good games.

This is not Vegas, we don't have as much choice when it comes to juicy low stakes games.

I have tried the VIC a few times over the last few months, it's closer to my place, the room itself is way better than the Empire but the £1-£2 is super nitty.

Regarding the BBJ, get rid of it! problem solved. Anyway I expect total transparency as it is but honestly I cannot confirm or deny any rumors regarding how the jackpot drop has been allocated. One thing I can say, it's my understanding that as long as the jackpot drop goes back to the players the room is allowed to fund different promotions with it, correct me if I'm wrong.
