Probably going to the Vic this saturday, what time is best and how do long do you usually have to wait for a game(1/1 or 1/2), if at all?

Is there any other "famous" casino which is softer or has less rake?

I was at the Vic yesterday, my first visit to a casino though. Played 1/3 there.
People loose PF but kinda solid postflop, but obv no samplesize there.

i did both vic and empire this week, somewhat loose PF and a few people obviously paying too much to draw out and then folding every river when they missed at vic. my impression was vic was slightly softer overall, however as wody said tiny sample size....

Don't think it's been mentioned, anyone know the structure of the Empires Saturday night tourney, £70 +£5 freezout?

Was going to try the vic but the £50 structure sounds a bit poop!

Cheers

hey you guys talk a lot about the Vic, the International and Empire, but theres a bunch of other cardrooms around London - the Western in Acton, Gala Casino in Queensway, Equal Chance in Walthamstow, Palm Beach Casino in Mayfair, Mint Casino near Kensington, etc..

Although those 3 are generally larger, and certainly have the biggest selection of cash games (or at least the most tables running regularly)

Just spoke to the Empire, the Saturday £70 is:

5000 starting stack,
20 min blinds,
25/50 - 50/100 - 100/200 - 150/300

Not sure if there should be a 75/150 in there but it looks a little better than the Vics structure!

Even so, Empire was alright.
Went to the Int, much nicer atmosphere, friendly people.
I sat directly to your left at the International 2pm tourney the other week! Was my first time there and loved it. Shame a cash game didnt start up as I too headed over to the empire (think you were at the table behind me) I'm never going there again the attitude of the regs there is god awful!

Looking forward to making it to a cash game at the international soon.

Maybe I should have posted this here - an interesting development at the International/Gutshot, with live Internet streaming of tournament/cash games:

Thought I might gather this in this topic. Seems like Empire is the way to go!
I was at the Empire yesterday and all the cash games were dealer dealt, which they said was always the case. There were two runing in the early afteroon and maybe five or six by late night, all 1/2 I think.

For person who asked about the southwest card rooms ive only ever played in the one in plymouth it was a .5/1 game £250 max buy in. 10% rake charge (capped at £5) very easy to beat alot of soft play especially at thurs/fri/sat night seem to get alot of drunkish non poker players sitting down and losing there money very quickly.
Dealers are ok and like a said the game was very soft .

I'm going to be in London in 2.5 weeks with a friend who's a pretty famous tourney pro. We are looking for a free apartment or house to crash in for 4 to 5 days.

Can anybody help?

I would recommend Empire Casino at Leicester Square. Being located so centrally, its always busy, its about 10 min walk from covent garden. You dont have to be a member to play. And generally a lot of fish and beginners, considering there is a steady stream of tourists, casino players and just people passing through.

When I played at the Empire 3 weeks back, there was no rake or hourly rate on the £1/£1 cash table?

One of the dealers last night was routinely under-raking pots

I didn't know the Empire has £1-£1 cash tables but I guess it depends on who's there.. But you will always find several £1-£2 tables and sometimes a £1-£3. Officially the rake is 5% capped at £10. Is it common for dealers to under-rake pots? I never pay attention really to what the dealer is taking..

Not at all common, he'd get fired if he was found to be doing it intentionally, I just think the guy isn't very good at maths.

I used to deal myself so I tend to watch dealers, especially inexperienced ones, like a hawk. Keeping my mouth shut can be very difficult at times.

went to empire 8 pm wed night, they had four 1/2 tables going, as the tourney players busted out it got up to six 1/2 tables i believe, that appears to be the sweet spot....

have seen 2/5 thurs/fri/sat nights, never saw or played 1/1 or 1/3 there

I am in town for a couple of days and I am looking for a tournament on Sunday evening. I think the Grosvenor Casino has a satellite but, of course, I won't be here past Monday so winning a seat does me no good. What are the good Sunday tourneys? Also, where is the most low- to mid-blind NL cash games? Thanks much.

£30 freezeout at the International at 6pm. 6,000, 15 min.

There will be some 1/2 maybe even 1/1 going on too.
