Yea i mever went to palm beach. 1 didnt have the money and 2, wasnt sure if it was private or not. Theu dont seem to advertise on tiwtter like the other rooms. I'm an American as well, but have come over 4x to play.

https://poker-cashgames-london.herokuapp.com/

Use that link(which is a summary of the Twitter feeds for what is running).

There is a small 4 table room @Grosvenor Golden Horseshoe in Bayswater by the Queensway tube stop (they usually use FB to advertise what games are going). Usually 1/2 only and 1 game of PLO.

Also another tiny one i never made it too, Genting Cromwell Mint.

Aspers is a hike over in Stratford City tube stop...mostly 1/1, 1/2 and some 1/2 plo

Hippodrome/Empire are mostly 1/2, maybe some plo or bigger random game at Empire(they are also on Bravo). The 1/2 @hippodrome might be "deepstack" vs regular

The Vic will have the biggest regular cssh games.of holdem and plo.

Now if you gonna play PLO, almost all the rooms are dealers choice 4, 5, 6 PLO. So button picks each hand. They almost always pick 6 card.

There is never a dead small in london, they just move the blinds to the next guy...

People can play over your stack at the Vic if you are in the bathroom...never seen it.they put a glass box over your chips and some random plays your seat while he's waiting.

Get a players card, tell waitress your a "member" for a few pence off any pints.

The Vic, cant wear track/jogging pants anymore. All the places if you have a bag will make you check it in cloak room. No hats except in piker areas, so dumb. Have passport with you obviously....get an oyster card for tube. Late night after midnight, tubes close, so take Uber(cheaper than taxis)...

Have fun!

When you going?

Im in midst of selling my house but going to be travel a ton overseas, definitely london on my go to. I'm hoping to get to EPT Barcelona, not sure if my timeline on closing will work out.

Sorry for the long posts...hopefully anything i shared was useful.

it's all good, you seem to be one of the few Londoners still actively playing AND posting on this thread ... other than that it seems the only traffic we are getting stems from two Americans exchanging advice and best wishes

P.S. a friend of mine convinced me to play the Aspers 19.00 tourney on Thursday. The experience was as horrendous as expected, from the rude security guy at the door, passing through the extra charge at the ATM, terrible dealers and shocking crowd. What's new? I guess I'll never learn.

Thanks astrobel. Yeh, I don't do the social media thing so (sad as it may sound) this is the only place I know that I to come to, to check out what's happening on the London scene. I'm not quite as "active" as I used to be (much more recreational nowadays) but I've been gradually getting back into the swing of things recently.

I'm with you on the Aspers situation. I'll go now and again for the sake of variety or changing things up a bit but pretty much always regret it. The whole atmosphere just seems to make players more grumpy and miserable. They're the only casino that charges £1 to leave your bag as well! And then it's that long and dreary trek back on the central line to play somewhere decent (which is where I should have started in the first place). The Empire has rescued me from stuck Aspers sessions so many times; this venue plus The Hippo are just more player-friendly venues.

The Vic is also going downhill in my eyes since they expanded the fruit machines and roulette machines into the poker playing area; it really makes the whole poker room seem cheap, dull, half-finished and a lot more cramped. Yeh, I think I really need to forego those "fun" 1/1 sessions and keep to playing 1/2 in the west end.

Unless it's changed in the last week the 1/2 PLO at the Vic is 4 card only. DC PLO at the Vic, which rarely runs, is 2/5 and above.

No problem, just didn't want the action junkies disappointed when they turn up to the Vic and only get dealt 4 cards.

OTOH, the dozen or so sessions I've played at Aspers the 1/2 PLO has always been DC456.

So I'm in London for the next week or so, looks like aspers is a dump? Usually play 1/2 300 max or 2/5 500 max, any suggestions? Also if anyone wants to grab a pint shoot me a pm

Apsers is the biggest or 2nd biggest room spacewise.

You want 1/2 £...most pkace is 400/500£ max (so 500 USD range). 1/2 plays like a US 2/5.

Hit Leicester Square for Hippodrome (poker room is in 3rd floor, but get a players card in 1at floor before you go up)...Empire Room is in basement (Empire is 2 doors down from Hippodrome). Those are 2 places youncan find a 1/2 game no problem. It's some tourists and regs

Otherwise head over to The Vic ,(Grosvenor Victoria.on Edgeware Road in Bayswater). The Vic, mostly regs, but tons of games.

Enjoy!

Went to aspers Tuesday night. I thought the room was really nice. You can buy in up to half the biggest stack in the capped games which is a nice touch. Played some 1/1, my first table was awful, average stack prob around $60. I was able to move to another table where we had straddles going etc. Overall I thought it was a nice place to play. Will be checking out the vic tonight probably

Sounds good, The Vic you get a players card at Check in. Poker is in 3rd floor. Take elevevator.

You scan you card to sign up for lists. Self check-in near the desk in poker room.

The Vic has the bigger games...good luck

Just finished up a session at the vic. In my opinion aspers >the vic overall. Aspers was bigger cleaner and I thought more organized. My 1/1 table at the vic had a mix of player types but had 2 of those "im going to tank every decision while my arm is in my shoulder and I stare at you" guys which made it unbearable. Feel like games at the lowest levels can go either way. I also didn't like at the vic that you can play over people. Meaning you have random walking around and just plopping into empty seats. If I'm back in London in the future will probably go back to Aspers. I've played at the hippodrome in the past and wasn't impressed.

Yes the glass box thing is so strange...never seen it but at the Vic.

Play 1/2...1/1 is too painful

I didnt dislike aspers, just a hike on the Tube and they are more 1/1 heavy. It is a rather large room. The far right is usually tourney.

I'm just used to the Vic, but to each their own. Im not trying to sway you. I like your honest feedback. Not many Londoners in this thread.

Hippodrome is cramped but again good enough and if sucks, go to Empire...

You were probably just unlucky the night you went to the Vic. Generally most people find it much more pleasant to play at the Vic (and better organised too).

There isn’t usually much tanking/staring down in the 1-1 or 1-2. No more than at other places. That was just random.

The main trouble with Aspers is there’s often some really terrible player behaviour (rude to the dealers) which is tolerated.

This 100 times, the Aspers is Hell on Earth, it should be burnt to the ground. Build a nice Casino in Canary Wharf to cater to East London ... and regarding slot machines, why are the UK slots so horrid compared to Vegas? I'm not a heavy slot player but I enjoy the occasional session in Vegas. Well, to be fair I tend to play more video poker than purely slots there. Either way it can be an enjoyable distraction in between poker sessions (in the US! UK slots are horrible)

Most rakes can be found on the casinos website as well as buy in structure. 1/1 was 10 %/5 and 1/2 was 5%/10 at most places saw

So The Hippodrome has a fantastic promotion for the Top 40 most loyal customers in the cash race for September. The promotional leaflet says the last 8 of the tourney.... wait for it...

GET TO SPIN A WHEEL FOR A PRIZE!!!

So good luck to all those putting in the extra hours - while not having a clue what you're actually going to win.

...Unless anyone knows different of course. Maybe they could use the extra rake to teach their dealers some people skills.

FYI:

Empire is asking for ID all over again from all players. Some sort of legal requirement. Just sayin'.

When were you asked? I was there on Saturday and wasn't.

Do you mean on entrance or in the poker room? I regularly get asked for ID on entrance even after showing my membership card (baby face I guess).

A few times now I've seen the card room management setting up deposit limits for new cards with the management having some input on/having to approve the deposit limit the customer wanted to set.

I'd guess this all ties in to increased KYC/anti money laundering requirements.

Sunday afternoon 'bout 5PM - at the poker room while I handed them the cash. They know me well there and said they need to do this for everyone so... Also, in the actual casino they produced a form saying I had to state a maximum limit when asking for cash. The thing is, I've done all this bull**** already so I was none too pleased when they asked me again.

Hi,

Have a question about the cash races at Vic and Empire. I know at Vic, you get free entry if you are in top 100. How many hours do you need on average? Also for Empire, i know it's per day basis. What are minimum days to get away with it?

Many thanks
