I bit.

With all due respect, while filming in the Vic seems a pretty dumb decision, it's probably overshadowed by your blog where you say (at 1/1) that you tried to explain range advantage to one of the "old time pros". GG.

I’d never be serious in any explanation or strat discussion at the table, for the most I’m a massive troll when I engage in any conversation at the tables (probably in an attempt to cover my social anxiety), my blog is a reflection of this.

Dude, troll or not....whats wrong with just shooting some B role footage. No direct attention to any players. You arent filming hands. You just show in each venue(Not just The Vic), how to enter each casino, how to get to each poker room, where in the poker rooms you sign up, what are the buy in limits and just a generalized view of the actual poker room, where you cash out. Basically a tourist guide for each room. If you want to go over your own personalized hands or highlighted hands you can and your thought process and the outcome, bad or good. That is what most vlogs are, regardless of where or what country. I think it could be useful, maybe not to the regs that have a problem with anything. Like you arent doing it, so whats the problem? Who appointed them the boss of you? Dont read or watch it, but could be useful if you can do it in a Neeme style. Maybe some drone footage of the areas. Shine a positive light on London, even if its only a few rooms.

The Vic
Hippodrome
The Empire Room
Aspers
Palm Beach(Mayfair)

Theres plenty of grinders in London....there is an untapped area of the poker vlog market. The haters are gonna hate regardless. Provide it as a useful tool!

Moved from the U.K. some time back, how would you describe online poker in the U.K. in 2018 or the live London action is just better ?

Cheers

Just finished reading through the whole blog, enjoyed it. I used to be a reg at Vic £1/1 but new job/getting engaged/life has meant I haven't played cash there fore many months. This has motivated me to get down again soon and hop in the games! Keep up the blog

Glad you enjoyed it man! We must have played a hand or two in the past! Games have been very very good of late, excellent time to jump back in!
See you at the tables!

Anyone who has played the loyalty freerolls... Do the Empire/Vic variants also allocate chips more to the people that play more or do all entrants start with the same starting stack?

If you aren't aware, the top 200 qualify for the Aspers freeroll but the top 30 players (ie. those there EVERY day of the month) get 30k starting chips and the bottom 100 only get 15k starting chips. Realistically, I'm never going to be there every day of the month because of real life and this harms the value of the freeroll imo.

I'm not sure as to your question, I remember that the International did that. I wouldn't recommend these freerolls but optional strategy is to qualify close to the minimum. You definitely shouldn't worry about people having double chips that are putting in considerably more than 2x the rake than you.

Question is, if you qualify for the loyalty freerolls at Empire/Vic, do all players start the freeroll with the same stack size?

There isn't a linear correlation with rake and positional place in these loyalty freerolls. I've seen people sit down at Aspers and play 1 hand for points and then leave the table. Given that I play predominantly long sessions at the weekend, and from what I have seen most qualifiers play short sessions every day instead, I am probably paying 75% of the rake of *most* of the full time regs per month and only getting 50% of the chips they get.

I think in a tournament with 200 players starting with 15k chips when the top 50 or so have 30k chips is a hefty disadvantage. A £70k freeroll for 200 players sounds like a £350 EV tourney; but, even with an advantage over the field, if you start with a chip deficit that's going to severely reduce that EV. Not quite to half, but not far off it either. FWIW, I am a good winner in the games and view the tourneys as rakeback, but am considering switching my play from Aspers because of their structure.

Hey folks, travelling to London next week and hoping to play a little poker. I'm staying quite near the Eye and was hoping someone could recommend good poker rooms nearby. I'd be happy to go a bit further for a better room if needed. We're apt to play fairly low to mid stakes (1-1 or 1-3) NLHE. Thanks in advance for any help.

Near the Eye, Leicester Square (Hippodrome & The Empire) is your best bet. They may have 1/1 , but more than likely it will be 1/2.

@PSLive_Hippo (Hippodrome)
@EmpireCasino (The Empire Casino)

Also you can take the tube out to Stratford to (Aspers) @AspersPoker or Edgware Road for The Vic (Grosvenor Victoria) @GCVictoriaLDN

This is dead unfortunately. Used to be one hell of a fun game as half the table (myself included) were utterly battered. Good times.

Hi, where do you suggest to play 1/1 in the city? The Vic has the rake race which i'm not interested in so it's just extra rake, Hippodrome doesn't seem to have 1/1 but only 1/2. Empire Casino for 1/1 then?

I didn't think the Empire offered 1/1, just 1/2. Apart from the Vic, Aspers have 1/1.

Scroll back through the Vic's twitter timeline to see. 10/25 PLO has been running frequently lately. NL has dropped off as everyone will be in Barcelona.

The Grosvenor 'Poker Live' app also shows the cash games running and the waiting lists at the Vic - 9pm on Fri night and there are 6 players on the 25/50 NL list. Any table number < 50 is a running table, anything > 100 is a waiting list.

"Buyin Limits have changed for our Omaha Cash Games at Aspers.
As of today, the new buyin limits are:
£1/£1 : £50 - £500
£1/£2 : £250 - £2,500
£2/£5 : £500 - £5,000
£5/£10 : £750 - £7,500
£10/£25 : £1,000 - £10,000
£1/£1 will be 4 cards only, all other games remain 4/5/6 cards"

PLO Cash changes at Aspers. What do we think? Will it improve PLO offerings at Aspers?
