hey guys, i've never played live poker before, only online. I'm thinking about coming to london at the beginning of next month, but i'm unsure at what casino to go to.

I'm looking for a casino that has low stakes cash games and MTT's but are dealer dealt. also looking for low rake. but i'm willing to pay that bit extra to have a dealer. It would also be a bonus to have some hot dealers and some soft games.

I would really appreciate if anyone could help me out.

Thanks alot.

vic and international are all dealer dealt. the empire has some self dealt games, although not sure if they are low stakes cash or low stakes tourneys.

Yeah PLO at the gutshot can be nitty from time to time but mostly it's superbly juicy.

I'm off to Vegas on saturday until the 25th, if anyone organizes anything, please do it for later?

I've just started going to the Empire for NLHE, games are pretty good there.

Gents, I'll be in London for the next couple of months (arriving on Saturday), thanks a lot for all the info provided in this post.

So, just to get this straight, Vic is the softest of all the London casinos? Softer than Empire, although Empire is situated in tourist land? (Leicester Square)?

Does any of these casinos organize parties, or is it very European style, where you only play? (anyway, there's loads of potential debauchery around Leicester Square ).

Cheers

Found this posted by checkminraise, could be useful:

ok, im a dealer at the international and the empire casino's cardroom so let me give you guys a run down on the games...

the international
£1/£1 PLHE £25 min - £100 max
£1/£2 PLHE £50 min - no max
£1/£2 PLO £50 min - no max

on occasion they will run a £1/£3 NLHE game

there is also free wifi so if you get bored 1 tabling live you can always multi table online.

the standard of play in this place is generally 'good' (i use the term loosely as good is a relative term) because it is essentially a poker club so people generally come to play poker.

empire casino

firstly, this place is a fcuking goldmine! im so pissed i cant play there.

£1/£2 NLHE £50 min - £250 max is the main game
£1/£3 NLHE £100 min - £600 max or 50% of the largest stack at the table this game runs occasionally

other games available on demand

there is 4 dealer dealt tables and on the weekend the self dealt tables are full aswell so i suggest coming in a little early on the weekends if you want to play the dealer dealt as the list gets very big

if you got any more questions or queries jus pm me
Also found this by subfoolio:

Vic @ Edgward Road:

-Huge variety of games and stakes, mainly NLHE from 1/1 to 25/50 GBP
-Huge fishes even at 5/10 and above (casino fish)
-Good volume of games for london
-Buy in of 40BB min, 200BB max in all NLHE games
-Huge rake/table charge (6 GBP per half hour at 1/3 game)
-24 hours
-Okay food

Empire @ Leicester Square:

-Smaller Cardroom
-Even more casino fish
-Usual games that run are 0.5/1 to 2/5 (?)
-Less volume
-No table charge but 10% rake (I think, or 5%)
-24 hours

The International Club (Ex-Gutshot) near Old Street:

-No casino, Just a poker room (so less casino fish, but more weak tight regs)
-Very well run
-Good volume for SSNL cash games (0.5/1 to 1/2)
-Less MSNL action (not much above 1/3)
-No table charge, either 5 or 10% rake
-24 hours
-Good food for price

I personally like the Vic the most, then the Gutshot. Haven't been to empire enough but heard the cash games are really juicy normally cos of the casino fish.
Thought I might gather this in this topic. Seems like Empire is the way to go!

The Empire is the softest, unless youre a PLO player then the £1/2 at the international might trump it.

The vic is pretty soft in general, its just the table charges are abit redic if youre trying to make money

The Vic on a saturday has a £50 + £6 self dealt tournie.
Start with 3000 chips, levels are 20 minutes starting at 25/50, 50/100, 100/200 etc.
So a pretty fast structure.

The £30 on the friday is the same structure but with starting stack of only 2000

DTD has plummeted in my books as a legitimate place to make money in cash games, since they raised their rake cap to £7 max @ 10%, equating to approximately £120-£160 an hour taken from any of the 1/2 tables. However, their tournaments are still very +ev, and there are more local casinos (Alea, Gala and Circus) that provide better value for money on cash games

Gala is 1/2, 10%, cap £5 dealer dealt
Circus is 1/2, £3 per person hourly charge self dealt (but very unlikely to run unless after tournament and lots of interest)
Alea is 50/1 or 1/2 (depending on interest), rake free for first hour or so, 2.5% rake capped at £3 for 3 players, £4 for 4 and £5 for 5+, then to 5% when game becomes more full or the cardroom manager decides (these rake values are at the disrection of CRM, but hes a generous man and wants to encourage more games there).

Sorry for the slight derail, but vic is sounding pretty ****e for cash games and a £100+£20 tournament is lol @ 20% juice.

Anyone have details or TR from Bristol and Southwest casinos/cardrooms please?

Folks, word of warning. I played at the Mint Casino in South Kensington last night, truly abysmal stuff, room has 3 tables with dealers who are frankly too scared to run the game, folding tables and chips you can buy from any reputable web site. Was advertsied online as being a £10 rebuy but when arriving it was £20 but with 2000 chips (£10 would get you 1000 under original structure). When I asked why, I was told by the lady running the room that was what the players wanted.... all 3 on the list at the time lol

Hi, I work in London and am interested in playing tournies on either a Friday night or sat afternoon. How long do these ones normally last as I need to be able to get a train home before the lines close at 12.30am. Course I dont mind paying for a taxi should I win

On a seperate point I play a bit of .5/1 & 1/2 PLO online and would like to experiment with some live play, which I suspect will be weaker?

Any tips for where to go?
Also any ideas regarding the number of entrants and potential prizes for these tournies?

I'm already a member of the Casino at the Empire, but that was only to watch the WSOPE and gamble in the casino. I haven't played any poker in there.

Also a member of the Loose Cannon but have only been down there once and after busting out early I didn't try the cash games but instead went out drinking with friends.
