Yep, just had a quick look and the standard price for a studio flat in Soho seems to be £1,625 per month.

Re: London

It could be monthly but it won't be that nice.

Kensington/Earls Court isn't a bad shout for a live poker player. District line to the Vic, Piccadilly to Leicester Square for Hippo, Empire and G, easy walk to the Genting on Cromwell Road.

Re: London

One more question guys:

What is the best way to bring money over? I don't want to lose too much in the exchange (from $ to £ and back to $ again), and also don't want to deal with customs carrying too much cash. I hope to play 5/10 uncapped so I'm hoping to bring over $10k+.

I figured the best way would be to wire funds directly to the casino, but I have reached out to the poker rooms via email and twitter and have not gotten a response.

Thanks!

There's a G between Russell Square and Holborn tubes which is the one I presume was being discussed. No poker though from what I'm aware.

As a rule of thumb I think it is fair to say that casinos rip you off even more than banks in currency exchange, I have seen some rates that were hilarious (10-20% juice), e.g. in Berlin and Macau, but I do not know about London. There might be exceptions.
And yes, rents in the UK are almost always quoted weekly not monthly

This is the best place to exchange large sums of money around London, they've got a few offices central and at least in the City.

I'm told that you can sometimes even negotiate the rate you get if it's quite large amounts of money too.

Really? I used to live in England a few years ago and I never saw a monthly rent anywhere, but maybe it has changed.

Re: London

Yeah per month is very much the default now, sometimes places still offer on a per week basis.

Rightmove

Zoopla

Tbf, those sites do list both pcm and pw, but there shouldn't be much ambiguity

Agree with this, they've always had the best rates I can find.

I've used City Forex on Leadenhall Street, was recommended by an ex Forex Broker as an option for non commercial customers, although they also do commercial work.

Hey guys, I'm meeting some guys from the Pokerstars Discord this evening for a Drinking Cash Game casino crawl around central London. Should be a laugh, could be a car crash.

DM me if you're interested

Re: London

im interested in playing in some of the cromwell mint's evening tournaments because theyre affordable (both buyin and rake %) and the location is convenient for me.

how many runners do these tournaments usually get and in the event of final tabling, what time could i expect the tournament to end?

also how are these to play in, in terms of atmosphere/fun? tia

The ones I've played have got 35-45 runners, sometimes more.

In terms of fun, a guy won it a couple weeks ago and took everyone to Sophisticats so make of that what you will. I enjoy playing the game there, much more relaxed atmosphere and far fewer headphones and hoody types.

1/2, holdem and it seems Omaha runs as well when I've been there. Kicks off around 8.

Google a service called 'Transferwise'.

You're welcome

You'll need a UK account or someone you trust to send the funds too. I just sent X amount through the service to a friend in the US. Got exact market rate and the fee was £6.5/$8.60c for any amount up to $10k Any more you need to satisfy multiple verifications and it's tougher with US AML regulations.

Interesting to see Andrew Neeme blogging in London. Here for the 888Live event at Aspers so no visits to Empire or Hippodrome unfortunately.
