3. Regulars know that it's better to table select at over a dozen tables in one area rather than make the trek to Edgware Road and table select maybe 4 tables at best. (With probably half being semi-decent regs anyway.)
4. Why pay for soft drinks and have some miserable waitress presume it's ok to take your change when they're free at Leicester Square and you can tip 50p or £1 whenever or if ever you want?
Why the hell would you play at The Vic?
As a Vic grinder I'd say that some of this is a little harsh.
The waitresses are probably a little spoilt because they are tipped well at the high stakes (tea/coffee/soft drinks etc free at 2/5+) but with that said I've never seen any of the waitresses simply take people's change as a given and in fact they've been noticeably offering change back to customers who tip well in the higher section.
I think all the other points are fair re: gameplay. It should be mentioned that the Vic cash race is the biggest of all the london casino's (I believe this is correct but can't be sure, I primarily play hsplo). I also think the ticket price is the equivalent of like £500-600. It only requires a small amount of hours to get it for free, I think Henry, the poker room manager there, told me it was like 17 hours a week.
I have been told by friends that Futtock is correct re: £1/1 £1/2 Hold'em games. From my limited experience the £1/3 at the Vic is incredibly soft. I'm often baffled when I see people battle tougher £2/5s that often break early in lieu of the much deeper stacked £1/3. That said I've noticed some regs have picked up on this now and would assume it's a major factor in the £2/5 dying a little lately.
Finally, it should be mentioned that for 4card PLO (4 card...) the Vic runs a daily £1/2ds game with £150 min and £1k max. Yes, the rake is pretty high (it's very beatable full ring tho) and it's a very soft game. I'd say it's the lowest variance PLO game you could find yourself in.
Ok, tl;dr
Gl all London grinders.
