Thankfully Friday and Monday coming are Bank Holidays so I can get to a few more WCOAP events than previously thought.

Hi everyone,

Here is the schedule for april tournaments in London, on my humble site.
You may contact me, to tell me, tournament i would have forgotten.
I do this to centralize the information about interesting tournaments in London (Midstakes+).

Site. (Pick "April 2015" , obviously).

Cheers.

I hate the fact that coffee in the vic tastes like fairy liquid. Plus they charge like 1.25 for each one which is a super awkward price. It's so rank and the annoying thing is that I've had perfectly decent coffee there at times but most of the time it's just fairy liquid.

Jeez, are the Vic really so hard up they need to charge for Coffee?

Small, uncomfortable, air con / heating always broken. Cold in winter to hot in summer.

Like playing poker in an unventaleted shoe box.

The only positive is the staff.

as mentioned, bit dingey, BUT the cash games are amazing, just take note of the punters, and avoid the regs trying to stack the punters, so many local rich folk just giving it away

shame its so hard for me to get too

What cash games they got running down there? Might be worth a trip

i played the tournament the other nite. came 8th in the end. prob made a mistake on exit hand.

anyway seemed a well run venue. pleasant room manager. £5 buffet was very nice.

its very close to me as im in earls court so would recommend for sure.

very good starting stacks for the buyins also. will play again next week after the masters is over!

I m sure its been answered so sorry about being repetitive... but with a £3,000 roll, living in central london so distance wise to casino not really a problem, what venu would you advise me to play if I were to play £1/2 ? I was thinking either Hippo or Vic but not sure which to go with?

Any recomendations?

Plenty of ppl who play alot more than me nowadays can probably give u a better more detailed answer.

But for my 2 cents if ur just playing 1-2 then Leicester Square prob ur best bet then u can jump between hippo and empire depending on which game is better @ the time.

empire/hippo next to each other so can easily move from one or the other

also the vic

those 3 venues should keep you busy and a wide selection of 1/2 games any night of the week, follow them on twitter/facebook for game updates, and if your a regular take advantage of their lloyalty scheme (which i hate personally)

play where you prefer, each has its pro's and cons so just try them all out, tuesday is busy in the vic because of their £80 tournament btw

I think a 3k roll is not even nearly enough

Seems fine to me assuming he's got a job and is just intending this to be a hobby.

With 1/1 rakes just being so extortionate around London, I'd advise getting into 1/2 as soon as possible as long as you can afford losing a not so deep Bankroll. Based on your PG&C thread I think you'll be OK.

Like other's have mentioned in the thread, LSQ is probably advisable as you have the choice of two venues right next to each other, but keeping tabs on their Twitter feeds to see where the most games are is your best bet. Besides, Edgware Rd and Picadilly/LSQ aren't all that far away from each other.

Poker is not my sole source of income but losing this 3k would be VERY annoying for me. I do depend on poker for a side income. Do you think a 3k roll can be lost easily playing 1/2 in london? If so , what kind of bankroll would I need to play these games? From what I read in winrates thread most regs rarely go on more then 13 bi downswings, and thats if their running very bad.

3k should be fine, you'd have to run pretty bad to lose 15 buyins at 1/2 assuming you're a winning player. 20BI is a general rule of thumb for online and your edge should be bigger live.

Yeah, not impossible but would be pretty difficult if you table select / profile villains / try to play when the games will have fewer regs imho and play a TAGish style

I've recently gone on a £2700 downswing (13 buy ins for me) which has been my biggest downswing over a 900 hour sample size usually it's 3-5 buy ins down. 3k is plenty to start with remember to add to the roll with profits.

I once lost 7 buyins in 10 hands online, all pure setups. It's entirely possible to go on 20 buyin downswings over relatively short samples.

Am I being unlucky or has the 5/10+ in London dried up?* Every time I visit the Vic nothing above 1/2 is running, very occasionally 1 table of 2/5 runs. It wasn't so long ago that 5/10 and 10/20 were quite regular. I'm not a regular in the live games, because I'm not mentally ill/terrible, but it seems more than just bad timing on my part. It seems like all I ever see at the Vic nowadays is P Benson's disgusting fat visage sat there at 1/1 and nothing else running.

*Yes bro, your massive private/home game is rly interesting.

anyone playing the superstack this weekend at the vic.

will play friday night i think. hoping i can pop over around 6.30/7pm and reg before it gets crazy go for food and come back around 8.15pm and just get straight into it.

should be a big turnout! seems a good structure for a £165 buy in.

For £1/£2 I echo the view that Empire/Hippo is your best bet with The Vic following on in second place. Other alternatives are: (a) Golden Horseshoe right next to Bayswater Underground - much fewer tables and a slightly cliquey feel; (b) The Mint - even fewer tables and a cliquey feel; (c) Aspers at Westfield Shopping Centre in Stratford - end of the Central Line, hard to get back to central London after midnight and generally better for 1/1 tables (although this may have changed recently).
