I was down there a week ago and the cheque on the wall said £102,900... And the electronic display on the other wall said £102,600. Cheque was from 2 weeks ago. I'm kind of worried by that discrepancy.

It's surprising nobody's won it yet though, I can't imagine it's less than about 1/500k to lose with quads

On a spammy note: How do boxes work at the Vic? Do the Empire do this too? I live in Camden and don't relish the idea of walking home at 4am with £2k in my pocket.

They dont have boxes AFAIK, 2 options though

-They give you a receipt which means you can go and get the money from the casino another time, they are basically holding it for you
- Get cashed out in cheque

Thanks. I wouldn't even know what to do with a cheque. I heard someone in front of my talk about deposit box at the Vic the other day, but receipt is effectively the same thing in any case. Can you take out a percentage of the receipt?

Yes you can withdraw whatever and they will give you a new reciept, just put a cheque in the bank?

This is what I found on their site

Cash Games:
Available everyday from 7pm until 5am
Rake 5%, Capped at £5, Minimum Blinds £1 - £1

Is it true that rake is 5% not 10% like in Vic? And when cash games actually start?

Lol its true, i had like 5k in my socks draw the other day and i was like wtf, this is way too much to be keeping in a house. Imagine the insurance claim "yeah i had 5k in my socks draw" "lol yeah course you did" so i chucked 3k in the bank in the nice blue bags the casino give!

No StingLT,

This is basiclly how cash games work...

If you turn up around 11am-2pm they will probably only have 1 table of 1/2 running usually people from the night before.

The games kick off at about 4pm and the 2/5 game starts about then, then it goes bigger to 5/10 ect ...

The games go through the night, ive done a few all-nighter sessions....

The games sometimes break at 7am but sometimes they just run into the next day and keep going, depends on the night really...

The rake on the 1/1 game is 10% capped at £10
The rake on the 1/2 game is 5% capped at £10 ( used to be £15 but they lowered it a couple months ago)

From what ive heard, a £10 rake cap live is very good, someone told me they have played in 10/20 games where the rake is 5% and no cap....

anyway hope this helped ...

£10 cap is not good imo, its daylight robbery, but there are no alternatives. The 1/1 cap was £5 last time i was there (about 2 months ago) have they increased it?

Last night there was a new counter added to the main waiting list screens for a bad beat jackpot.

Dealer said that the weird pocketPC type things they were entering stuff on was something they had been being in training on for months to prepare.

Any one have any details?

Presumably this will be driven with an extra table charge of some description?

Not sure what you mean. The bad beat jackpot is updated in real time via dealers entering rake amounts to a machine? Hard to see that having an extra charge, except in slowing the game down a bit for no real gain

Last time i went the bbj was collected through the table rake something like 1% of pots was inserted in a set box next to the dealer, i'd then assume this was all added to the bbj and added to the total on a daily if not weekly basis.

A friend and I played at the Vic, friday gone for about 12hours £1/£1 cash. This was my first time at the Vic and I have to say I loved It. The rake was a bit harsh but the game is still very beatable.

Needless to say I'll be back for more.

Should have said before, could have had beer at the bar Had a better night there than I thought when I updated my records the next day.

With regards to BBJ the pocketPC/smartphone type devices had been removed from the tables when I played last night so looks like that idea might have been abandoned/postponed for a while.

Can any of you British DB's confirm that the Vic is now spreading a 75-150 mixed game?
London Quote

Hmm, if they did it would be pretty massive, since they play all the mixed games pot-limit over here. I would be surprised it it were true, but actually I have no idea since it's over 2 years since I went to the Vic.

yes, can confirm there is a regular 75/150 limit mix game - has not been running during the WSOP as many of the mix game regs are in vegas atm. should get going again in a couple of weeks

Anyone got the scoop on the new Fox Poker Club on Shaftsbury avenue?

Confirmed opening date? Tourney Schedule? Running anything regularly apart from NLHE?

edit: opening date is august 7th.

I can confirm 100% that there is a regular 75/150(British pounds) limit mix game at the Vic in London.
The game started in February 2010 and has run most weekdays and some weekends since.
A lot of the players went to the WSOP and the game has stopped during this time, buy I have just been knocked out and I an returning to London tomorrow so the game will kick off again next week.
I gelpbyo get the fame started each day. I have the phone number of most of the players and I sfnd texts out saying what time we are planning to start, who will be playing, and what the game has been like. If you would like to be added to the text list PM me your number.
The games in the mix are: holdem, Omaha hilo, stud, stud hilio, razz, 2-7 triple draw, A-5 triple draw, badugi, badacey, baducey.
The game generally starts around 2pm and continues until the early hours.
The longest a game had run for is 40 hours, and on a couple of occasions there have been two tables.
