If I want to live close to either The Vic or Empire (45-60 minutes without a car) In what area should I look for an apartment? Please take in to consideration that we have a 3 year old that would like to be able to meet other children and play.
Also, is it possible for me to find a one bedroom apartment with the monthly rent of maximum 1 300 GBP per month in that area?
And is it possible to sign a contract without having a job and therefore paying maximum 2 months of deposit and one month of rent in advance?
Thanks!
Hello!
London public transport is incredibly good (don't argue, people, it is, lol) so you actually have a lot of freedom around where you live. I would definitely make sure you pick the right area for your fiancée and child and put yourself second because travel isn't an issue. Other than this, I'm not especially knowledgable about areas to live, sorry!
What I do know is you should easily be able to find a VERY nice place to live for £1300 pm. You might even find a 2-bed place for this money.
Regarding your job situation and desired deposit / upfront rent situation, this is tricky. I think estate agents have forms to fill in asking your job and annual income and after all landlords like security and stability. All they want are 2 things - regular rent and a safe property.
You should expect to pay 6 weeks rent as your deposit rather than 2 months.
It might be advantageous for you, in order to secure the right home, if you offer 3 months rent as security and perhaps after 6 months you get half of that back and the landlord can serve you 1 months notice if you miss a single payment and take the money out of your deposit.
Basically, if you offer the landlord security and promise a safe house and explain your circumstances (perhaps over a coffee) then I think you will be fine.
All the best for your move and your family.
