I know there are plenty of places to play live, such as the Vic, The International etc.

But is there anywhere you can play 25p/50p or 10p/25p cash games because i play 25nl online but i don't wanna go and play £100 max 1/1 as that seems like the lowest game around.

I know a place that does 10p/20p cash games but it's a dirty pub with old irish cokeheads on table covers...
profitable but just generally not a nice place to play overall and in live poker i think that's very important...

ANYONE???

These games are always going to be in bad venues because otherwise they just arn't viable. The Vic arnt going to use up space for a 1/2 table and the cost of a dealer with a 10p/20p table where they're only taking 5p a hand in rake. I know some Rileys hold cash games after tornaments as people bust, but these are run worse than most home games.

I'd say your best bet is to try to build up a bigger br online then when you are at a point where you can afford to lose a bi or 2 @ a live .50/1 table, go down to the vic. Also, play some live £20 f/o or something, you'll get the live experience without the risk of doing your BR.

Hahah yea, I've been to that Rileys game. It's quite amusing.

But yes, build up your live BR to where you can at least play the 1/1 before playing. Or get a stake. As it is the rake at the 1/1 can make it a pain to beat at times.

Regarding the electronic table that has been sitting at the International for a while:

Quote:
The main games offered will be pre tournament SnG's for seat in the evening events, small SnG's (up to £10) and smaller NLH and PLO games such as 10p-20p & 25p-50p.

We are hoping it will entice players to start playing cash and get them learning very cheaply before moving up to the live games.

BTW we are giving away free £10 for all NEW players to give the table a go. And just like Nigel 'The Bok' you could even spin it up on the roulette and cash out £100!! he will be alright.

My TR wasn't exactly the most exciting read, but I had a good time @ the Empire. Looking forward to a return visit in April.

Anyone know about a £1/£1 game at The Golden Nugget, Shaftsbury Avenue?

http://www.thecasinolsq.com/pages/casino-events.php

At the end of that poster;

Cash games daily, 7pm - 5am
Rake 5%, Capped at £5, Min. blinds £1/£1

Seems like the best low stakes game in terms of rake, but is it a regular game and is it as soft as Empire?

I called them a few weeks ago and at the time they said that there were only starting to do tournaments and they don't do cash. That poster is misleading. If you want to play 1/1 you should go to Vic or International.

Too good to be true I guess. Thanks for the info mate, just about to start playing live so I'm sure I'll see you around at The Vic / International / Empire.

What is the max buy in for 1/1 at these casinos? What about max for 1/2 at empire?

The max sit down at the Vic is 200BBs for the 1/1 and 1/2 tables.

Can't remember about the International, haven't played cash there in a while.

At the Empire it's 500 max or half the table big stack, whichever is deeper.

At International:
1/1 -> £100 max
1/3* -> unlimited

*Note: Recent experience suggests 1/2 is now 1/3 as a compromise between the 1/2 game which always ran and the 2/5 game that rarely ran.

Ya, I'm looking to get my gamble on this holiday weekend too - especially since my girlfriend's out of town and I have all the time I need. I've played at the Int, Vic , and Empire before.

Here's what I'm thinking bout for the weekend, any thought/suggestions? I also found a couple tourneys that might be of interest to some.

Thursday: I was at the Vic last night, only played a little cash before the 100+12 donkament. It starts deep, but the structure is ridiculous later on (They go from 400/800 to 600/1200 blinds!). I was short at FT, so maybe i'm biased.

FRIDAY/SATURDAY: I'm thinking about going to cash games at the Vic or Empire today and tommorrow, maybe try both. Would anyone recommend Sportsmen or Palm Beach casino? I'm looking to play btwn 1/2 up to 2/5 if its juicy.

Sunday: anyone ever played at the Kensington CLose Hotel? I came across this: http://www.bluffeurope.com/poker-new...dule_7118.aspx and it seems like it might be a decent structure for such a low buy in - "The second event is a deep stack special, also at the Kensington Close Hotel starting at 2pm on Easter Sunday afternoon. The buy-in is just £30 (again no rake or registration fee) with starting stacks of 10,000 chips and a half hour clock. Cash games will be available from 3pm."

Monday I think I'll have to go to the tourney at the International for the '4pm: Bank Holiday Special £100 NLH FO '. Will this be busy, should I pre reg?

sorry for the long post, glad I found this thread though - PM me if anyone wants to meet up

Sportsman has decent tourneys, dunno bout the cash games there tho and i think the games @ palm beach are 5/10

Good luck in the tourney, seems like a decent structure, i'm always a bit skeptical of tourneys run by random non-gambling related institutions though. With a low buy in and no reg fee i'm assuming its self dealt, i'd be interested to hear what it was like if u went.

My guess is that the int will be busy, dunno if it will cap thought. To be on the safe side i'd ring them before u go.

The int will 100% sell out (and it has on every bank holiday special since the club opened). If you want to play the pre reg

It didn't sell out in the end, looked like they had and extra dealer they didn't need.

I finished 17th out of 100 runners, lost my chips to the winner Sam Acheampong who's on fire winning 3 big tournies (£14k) in the past week or so.

Anyone have any tips on how to adjust shortstack play to these live London tournies? With people much more willing to fold than online, I'd think that 're-stealing' and 'all-in or fold' stack sizes could probably be reduced depending who's at your table.

Oh sorry for the misinformation if it didn't sell out. It is certainly the first time that's happened.

No problems, I was just saying - I think they have more table than they used to so that was probably it. Although if you really feel bad about it you can reimburse me for the money I lost in the cash game when I went to the club to pre-register

Was a good tourny though - £3k top prize, and though it was rather short-stacked once we were down to 1/3 the field it was a lot better structure than other live tourny's like at the Vic.

Went down the Empire for the first time last night room was very busy and seems to have its fair share of colourful characters.

The main issue just seemed to be the tables never really got that deep you would have a couple of lag regulars who were getting the money but there were a load of short stacking apparent regulars sitting with 40-80 and at times less. What was worse was a load of them seemed to be moving table to table as openings came up and at least one I saw took the opportunity to go south as he went.

Think they also need to clamp down on the playing over, I can understand it if someone is on a break having dinner or whatever, but as soon as you stood to goto the toilet or talk to someone on another table or whatever there would be player straight in your seat. At times seemed there were 6-12 players roaming the room sitting in empty seats sometimes only playing one hand before the seats owner came back.

Hi, I'm visiting London with a friend in April (22nd-26th), and we have a few questions we want to ask:

1. We registered as members to the International (thru their homepage), and we are a bit confused with the membership rules they have there. First of, in order to become a member, do you need to be recommended by an existing member or how does it work?
Secondly, we're interested in playing the £25 Freezeout NLHE tourney on friday @2 PM (April 22nd). They offer an "early bird" option which allows you to buy more chips for a small sum of money, and we were just wondering how early you have to arrive at the casino in order to take advantage of this offer, and secure seats for the tournament?

2. Could you guys recommend any good low buy-in NLHE tournaments, at any other casinos in the near-by neighbourhood? And do you need to apply for membership at these casinos? We are staying near Leicester square.

A few OT questions:

1. Which is the best place to watch the Arsenal - Man. City game (April 24th), seeing as we haven't got tickets for the match lol.

2. Any good restaurants or cheap shopping streets you guys would recommend? Or any activity you would recommend? We're fairly open-minded .

Thanks for your assistance .

1, Although it says you have to be recommended by 2 members, basically you just show up and 2 people already in the club will sign you in. You can take the 'early bird' option anytime in the first level.

2, The Empire has a £20 rebuy every night at 6:30 (I think), not sure of anywhere else that has small stakes tourneys.

OT,
1, Every pub in the country will have that game shown, but theres a pretty cool sports cafe in Leicester square (about a 3 minute walk from the empire)

2, Oxford Steet/ Piccadily circus are pretty good for shopping.

Which tables were you on? When I used to go quite a bit last year the tables got incredibly deep at the weekend. One sunday morning a man had £14k at 1/2 with a few hovering around the 5k mark.
