Vic spreads them 24/7. Whether they run is a different question.

Someone closer to the scene will need to confirm but last time I checked Palm Beach was the only place that had a fairly regular 5/T?

Hippo 2/5 games usually get straddles going if you ask too.

What do you mean by "not very expensive"? London not very expensive could well be what you consider very expensive.

I would guess he's looking for a "cheap/less expensive" place to stay for 1 month in what we all know as an expensive city.

Do they have AirBnB?

Maybe he should be looking at hostels(not my own idea of great) or some cheap hotels like £80-100/night type...

Good luck

Lets say my budget is 1,5k/2k pounds for the month

OK, for that sort of money, you'll have a lot of good choices on AirBnB. Edgeware Road near the Vic isn't the nicest place in the world to stay and near Leicester square is going to be limited and expensive for AirBNB, so I'd say look at Notting Hill and Bayswater sort of area, it's a few minutes on the bus or Uber from there to the Vic and 15 minutes or so by tube to Leicester Square,

I see there is a £15,000 GTD Monthly £300 tournament at the Vic on thursday at 7pm. Is this a one day event? At what time does it normally end?

Bumping this -- in general what are the best weekly tournaments in London (£150+)? Google has been surprisingly little help, I can't find a good citywide listing.

Pretty sure there are no £150+ weekly tournaments. There are 4 places in London that have regular tournaments, The Vic, Aspers, The Empire and The Mint. They all have sites that list there tournaments but having a quick look, it appears that the biggest weekly tournament at each is around the £100 mark other than the Empire which is £50 (+rake). There are loads of semi regular tournaments over the 150 mark though, you just need to keep an eye out on the websites.

Off to the Vic this evening if anyone is about and fancies a beer?

Wish I'd have seen this earlier, I was so close to going for the £90 tournament. Might head down there later this week though.

Anyone know how full the car park gets at the vic on a Friday night?

What time do you need to turn up to secure a space?

The Vic is not hosting any popular tournaments this weekend, just the regular schedule. You should be fine to arrive at any time and get parked.

Worst case scenario - there is a few single yellows outside the car park.

The Vic car park only tends to get full when it's the 25/25 series, the London Deepstack or a GUKPT.

Anyone have an idea how many runners this PokerStars Live thing is going to get this weekend?

Also, it's a 2 day event? (1a Friday evening, 1b/c on Sat) - does that mean Sunday is final day & play to winner? They told me its 12 lvls of play day 1 (30 min lvls - thats 6hrs) & Sunday restart is 12pm.

Anyone got a clue theres no info anywhere.

Also can you buyin on Stars?

There's info on the Pokerstars London site. It is a 2 day event like you describe. You can't buyin on stars, I think it's a legal thing rather than Stars not wanting to do it. There are sats on Stars though. I think they're expecting it to be busy, as the Megastack is at a different venue. I'd expect 400-500 entries but I could be way out there!!!!

Its being held at a different venue because of the magic mike show going on at the hippo is using their usual tournament space.

Sad to see the London thread dipping down to page 4 and no one posting for over 6 weeks! What's going on?

Me? I'm slowly getting back on the saddle, playing a little 1/1 after being off the scene for a while. Hope to move up to 1/2 ASAP. Had recent visits to Aspers and The Vic - and nothing seems to have changed.

Aspers is still as dreary as ever with bad games and that feeling of regretting ever setting foot in the place. However, good to discover they're still doing free parking (collect a token from the casino staff).

The Vic is better with regulars being as predictable as ever and plenty of new casuals and wannabes turning up.

Keep on truckin' and see you at the felt.

I'm not playing as much as I used to, definitely taking 6 months or so off from playing live, even recreational, for the first half of 2019. Just have a lot of other stuff going on away from poker.

London poker will never die though and I'll definitely be back. Maybe a few of the older regs who used to post here have died off and newer players/posters haven't found the thread?

Just played London (I'm from US)...

The Vic (Grosvenor Victoria) has best games in my opinion, lots of regs... 1/1, 1/2, 1/3 NLHE & 1/2 PLO (4 cards)...loved it. Followed Twitter (the pokerroomUK) & used Grosvenor Poker Live app

Grosvenor Golden Horseshoe has 3 tables total, use FB page to see if any games are running along with Grosvenor Poker Live app. Games were 1/2 NLHE or 1/2 PLO (4,5,6). I only pl played the holdem but was very fun, weak players easy to exploit. I had been to London 3x previously and never knew they had any games. It is right next to the Bayswater Tube station.

Aspers 888 (Stratford)-another big room, tons of 1/1 crazy games. A few 1/2 games and 1/2 plo (4,5,6). I only played 1/2 NLHE but had a great time. Followed on twitter for games

The Empire (Leicester square)- packed in tight in the basement 1/2 NLHE was a good game. Followed on Twitter for games

The Hippodrome Casino-Pokerstars Live(Leicester Square) was having ou only 1/2 NLHE games at the time I was there but had a blast. Followed on Twitter for games

Yep, with the exception of The Mint on Cromwell street you've covered five of the six main venues to play poker in London although The Golden Horseshoe and The Mint are smaller / lower tier poker rooms that can't compete with the other four. As a cash game player, I've always preferred The Hippo and The Empire for convenience and decent table selection but 1/1 at The Vic is also pretty good when you want/need a break from 1/2 despite the rake being a bit steep. Aspers is too far out of the way and to be avoided in my humble opinion.

I agree completely with your assessment. I heard of the Genting Mint Cromwell and knew it was smaller but could not see, or maybe wasnt looking in correct spot, to see what games they had running. Aspers was definitely out of the way as well. Just on pure location, empire & hippodrome have decent game selection for 1/2. The Vic, is the best of the bunch but more reg heavy than others. It was my 4th trip to London and enjoy it each time...I stayed in Bayswater so finding golden horseshoe was funny plus it was literally 1 block from my hotel so was convenient at certain times. I knew it was tiny going in.

I don't play big enough to warrant trying to see what is at Palm Beach ...

Next trip definitely want to somehow get up to Dusk til Dawn in Nottingham...
