Heard they were shutting down the poker room. That's all I know at this time.

I have a friend who is a dealer there, will ask her if and when it's supposed to be shutting down. If it's true, I can't imagine why they would.

Spoke to my friend earlier, and she says that with them merging with a new company, they have been making some really ridiculous cost cutting decisions but management insists that they will not be closing it.

Whew.

While I am sure it is out there in the land of google, for the sake of others who follow...who is acquiring them? Or is this a case of them having eyes bigger than the corporate coffers can afford and they are acquiring someone else?

The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board has approved a deal that will see Pinnacle Entertainment Incorporated acquire the casino and racetrack operations at The Meadows Racetrack And Casino from Gaming And Leisure Properties Incorporated for $138 million.

Located some 25 miles southwest of downtown Pittsburgh, The Meadows Racetrack And Casino opened in 2007 and offers 3,170 slots alongside 74 gaming tables and an eleven-table poker room in addition to a 5/8-mile harness racing track with a 500-seat grandstand. There are also eleven on-site restaurants, bars and lounge outlets, an 11,000 sq ft events center and a 24-lane bowling center while hotel accommodation is provided by the attached but separately managed 155-room Hyatt Place hotel.

Wyomissing-based Gaming And Leisure Properties Incorporated, which is a casino-focused real estate investment trust spun off from Penn National Gaming Incorporated in 2013, spent $440 million in December to purchase the Washington County site from Cannery Casino Resorts and will now lease the entire operation to Pinnacle Entertainment Incorporated for at least the next ten years for an initial annual fee of $25.5 million.

They have wifi now. Giving out a lot in daily promotions. Not as much 2/5 anymore. Healthy PLO on the weekend. Not closing. There was talk about it. But not happening now.

Last time we stayed at L'Auberge, they only had 2 tables of 1/3 going and no 2/5 at all. As always there were lots of Middle Eastern looking people in the casino, but not a single one in the poker room this time. That was pretty sad since those guys usually created lots of action.

Did anything change over the last couple month? I prolly won't pay for L'Auberge if they don't have anything besides relatively nitty 1/3 games.

L'Auberge action has slowed considerably in the last few months. Golden Nugget was better the last time I was over there and, at least for me, I get better comps from them.

Golden Nugget is 10 handed, dark, and real loud. L'auberge is 9 handed and a much better setting. Bad beat just got hit again and the new one is a paltry $12k. They are running a lot of Aces or Kings cracked promotions. The 4-8 limit players show up every day until the promotions are over. Really need the oil and gas industry to get going again, to get the $$$ flowing in the poker room. Virtual ghost town during the week.

Bad beat hit again last night. Str8 flush over str8 flush. The new bad beat "jackpot" is now $337.46. They still have a 5-10-25 PLO every Friday, until they run out of money.

Was there this weekend and am happy to say the Golden Nuggett is eating their lunch. They were always condescending to players and it's caught up to them. Action was good at the Nuggett, not so good at LB.

I prob play twice as much at GN over LB. But the staff at LB, both dealers and floor, are far bettor at LB. GN has some good dealers and ther good ones are better than LB. But the number of bad ones is much larger. And for the floors it is not even close.

Going to Lake Charles for a week in early May. Is there a regular 2/5 game going at L'Auberge that's worth playing?

If not, how are the 1/3 games at LB and GN? Worth playing both from a fun and money perspective? I don't want to spend my time in a boring game just to make a couple bucks.

Anyone play 1/3 on Thursdays as the tourny breaks? Do a lot of players play cash afterwards? How's the action?

They say they are going to cut the room to either 4 or 5 tables in October. Just not enough play to keep 8 tables. Rip.

The Houston area "legal" poker rooms seem to be killing the Lake Charles action. I hear Coushatta especially has been dead lately.

They "shut down" half of the room Sunday evening at 8PM. I was at the only active table in that half and they moved the whole table as was to table 4. The plan is 5 tables. Will move the poker cage to a small area at the back of the room and put a 5th table where the current counter/cage is.

Per a long time dealer, they are not cutting any dealers. They have been maxing out at about 6 tables so the drop to 5 tables will not result in massive dealer/floor reductions.

Rumor is this has more to do with new mgmt post buy out than historical traffic or declining traffic due to the Houston rooms (and now one in Beaumont.) But regardless they have not been filling the room so expect ANY mgmt to consider changes that generate net more revenue.

It will not be slots going in. It is stadium/fusion black jack/roulette. (What they are doing with that existing space, no idea.) There will be a new wall put up that splits the old poker room.

interestingly (and not compltely on topic her) GN next door is also moving their room (new law in LA) and will actually gain 2 (or maybe 1) table. But will lose wander in foot taffic sense new room will be off the floor (but at least I won't have to worry about going deaf as in the current room.)

It has. All the LC-area rooms are slooow and it's almost all LC-regs on the tables.

How are the Houston rooms? I see absolutely no online discussion about how they're run, who is playing, how the action is, safety, etc.

With the AG's office recently backing away from commenting on the question of "is time charge a rake?" (non-primary source), I'm considering staying local.

There is a thread with lots of detail on the Houston rooms in “home poker”. Unfortunately overzealous mods moved it there where it doesn’t inform anyone but the few Houston players that know where to find it

Looks like poker might be gone from LB. Put slots where poker was. With new LA law they could move to a room off the main floor. They could even move the machines back out eventually. But the room was struggling pre virus. If LB does stay poker free I wonder if any action will move back to the isle.

LB has reopened poker. The new room is off the boat. They closed off the event ticketing / gift pick up area. Only six tables but better then zero.

I have not been yet but Bravo shows couple of ‘pull people back to keep them’ type promos. 25 hours before Aug 1 bumps your loyalty card up to advantaged. Monthly drawing with entries based on hours.

Had heard a room was coming but not until sports book was running. So a little ahead because those regs are not finalized.

A year from now could get interesting. Isle of Capri is doing a complete rebuild of the casino and will be land based Expected to be major upgrade from old Isle. Might even be rebranded as a Horseshoe. Will reopen Apr 22.

If all of that happens will be back to three rooms in town.

The old Isle was a total dump below a lot of roadside motels, especially that second building. I remember years ago before I knew how bad it was, I got my parents a room there and felt so bad about it that I moved them to a different hotel after the first night even though we prepaid for 4 or 5 nights there. I have a hard time seeing how that could turn into a really nice casino hotel without doing a tear down and rebuild. But maybe they'll surprise me.

Last time we stayed at L'Auberge pre Covid the poker room was basically dead. Played in a 1/3 game one night that was boring enough for me to leave and go to bed before 10PM. Kinda surprised they decided to reopen, do they expect Houston customers to reappear magically or is there another sign that points towards Lake Charles being able to support 3 rooms on their own?

Don’t want to derail too much here. I agree that the Isle hotels and casino both were pits, especially the Inn. IMO was well on way to death if covid plus hurricanes plus state law changes did not come along.

What I don’t know though is can the area support three casinos or three poker rooms. When you include Coushatta and the horse track and the TX gray poker rooms, I tend to doubt it. But since Isle is building, there will be three casinos with large sunk costs. Who eventually loses, I don’t know. Now that isle is part of CET all three casinos have pretty deep pockets at Corp level. Time will tell I just hope to enjoy the competition while it lasts.
