Anyone hear about the suspected cheater that was caught there last week and let go because there wasn't enough evidence to hold?

The article on USA Today's site says he was marking cards with invisible ink and just got caught at Mohegan Sun.

Here is the link

Correction to my post. It looks like he might have been charged in LA after the fact but was let go that day because there wasn't enough evidence to charge at the time he was caught/suspected of cheating.

Any lauBerge. Players know more about this?

I played this weekend fri-sat-sun and asked a couple dealers, but they didn't have any info and sounded like they didn't want to talk about it. They were probably told not to by the management. Not much of a story tbh, dudes a cheat. Did see shaq there on friday tho!

Played 1/3 earlier this evening. Action was good in the early part of the night, but eventually died out as the night progressed. Good dealers, decent atmosphere, my only gripe would be ordering food and having to wait 2+ hours to get it. I know they were busy, but damn.

Anyone have any thoughts on the tournaments that are at 11am during the weekdays? I'm imagining mostly solid players at them. What about the weekend tournaments?

Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but has anyone played here recently? Any comments about the quality of the cash games and/or tournaments? I'll be in BR for the holidays, thinking about making the trip up to the casino if the games are decent.

I'm curious too. What's the 2/5 like? Also, how smoky is it?

Smoke not a problem, but the games are clearly much better at Harrah's NO. IMO, Lake Charles rooms have much jucier games as well.

I may have to be in the area in the spring for something unrelated. If this happens, I'll make time to check out this room and a TR is likely.

I go to play poker to have a good time. This is almost impossible when regulars are allowed to angle shoot and verbally harass other players.

I have found the staff at L'Auberge to be unsympathetic and unwilling to remedy problems. I asked for a table change to get away from a punk that was trying to verbally intimidate me. I was told by the floor that the open seat at the other no limit hold'em could not be given to me because the table I was leaving would only have 6 players and the tables would not be balanced.

Guess what, when I left, they still only had 6 players. I was told the same punk that ticked me off had done the same thing to the player who just left the table.

I have played at 8 different casinos. I rarely go to L'Auberge in Baton Rouge because of previous problems that just left me frustrated and the staff did not care in the least.

I recommend if you are from out of town and want to check out a new poker room, go to Beau Rivage in Biloxi; Harrah's in New Orleans, but keep on driving past L'Auberge in Baton Rouge.

I have played at almost twice that number of rooms just this year including LBBR. Three cheers to the floor for correctly enforcing the rules. I realize you believe you deserve to have the rules bent for you (as u already posted.) But the reality is just not so. Your only possible complaint maybe is the floor did not address what that punk did to you. Then again maybe he is the one with a legit complaint since you did not bother to post any of those details.

But the fact you posted they should bend the rules for you says much more than you probably realize.

Punks and thugs have been present at L'Auberge in Baton Rouge every time I have been there. They angle shoot, use intimidating language, and an aggressive tone regularly.

I have spoken to other regulars there and they state the yelling and aggression is common place. The floor staff is so afraid of losing their jobs they do NOTHING.

I am a middle aged white female and I am not going to play poker where people are allowed to try and intimidate you as a mental advantage.

So NO KUDOS to not having a way to control this behavior. They should have a plan to manage people who are being harassed since they have no way, or willingness, to control the harassers.

Letting me take a 10 seat and leaving the disruptive table with 6 players would have accomplished that. A person from that table was present as I was making my request for a table change. He said the last person who had left that table was angry with the same person that was harassing me.

The bottom line is: be aware of this negativity at L'Auberge and play at your own risk.

Possible developments at LBBR. First the bad, there are some slot machines in the poker room. But I think they are just being stored or staged there they are not set up to be played. There is some work on the main floor and I believe they came from here.

The goods news is they are at least thinking of how to open the room. I saw one table in the room with a plexiglass divider set up. Maybe they have plans or maybe it was just a failed design test. But the tables are all still there. The slots are not plugged in. And they bought or had built a plexiglass setup for at least one table

Red Stick Poker update…

Room is still closed but appears that may soon change. There is a sign up that they are working to reopen (good). Looks like will be down to just four tables (not so good). But looks like will be on they main casino floor (mixed but good in my opinion). The bar next to old room that was ridiculously loud when they had live music is also closed (good). They are combining the old poker room space and the bar space into a River Bend Terrace not sure what this will be. Might be part of sports book. Also might use some of that space as smoking terrace. The kiosks are near the four poker tables just outside the high limit tables salon. Also have a sign the bar stool sport book open mid 2022. Since poker tables appear in place, auto shufflers have power and new checkin desk in place I don’t expect poker to take until mid year to be ready. Honestly looks like they could open now. Bravo shows BBJP still over $260K so expect good frantic when they open.

Per Bravo Red Stick is now open. Not there to physically inform this but seems extremely likely based on what I saw last week. Per Bravo Wed is thru Sun 10am to 4am.

I do not know about tournaments.

I'm going to be in Baton Rouge this Saturday night for one night only after going to the LSU game. Suspect I'll be the only brit in the poker room.
