Husker, are you from Nebraska? It would make sense, judging from your handle.I'm in Omaha.

Anyway, what is the tourney action like down there? I'd like to know about weekly tourneys and their structures, as well as bigger buy-in deals.

Thanks!

Are you looking for limit or no-limit games (and what stakes)?

Sup guys..

I hear Hollywood Casino is opening in the beginning of February. I definitely plan on playing there as long as they have 2/5. The Harrah's game is decent most of the time, just sucks when you get stuck with a few pros or bracelet guys. The handful of bad regs that play all the time though always make it worthwhile though. I hope they travel to Hollywood too, but I really expect Hollywood to have much juicier games. As others have said, Harrahs and Ameristar are isolated, and the Legends is full of drunks, the soccer field, and the T-bones. Next best possible place they could put a casino other than P&L and I'm not really sure that would be better. They could really just put Harrah's to shame if they comped $2 an hour like in Vegas.

Alot of ppl in the live game may know my face, but feel free to reach out to me. Talk poker. Shoot the ****. More and more everyday I immerse myself in the game. See you all at the 'wood soon

Visiting KC.. and hoping to play some 2/5.

Reading through the thread seems like Harrah's is the only place.

Does anyone have any recent info on how the 2/5 action at Harrah's is?
Also, whats this 75% buyin rule at Ameristar which is apparently reducing the likelihood of a 2/5 game there?

Instead of having a hard buyin cap, you can buyin for 75% of the big stack at the table. Makes the table much deeper than a typical 1/2 game.

Does anyone care to post a review of Hollywood's new poker room that opened last night?

What would the chance be of getting a regular HORSE game at the new Hollywood Casino? 10-20 to 20-40? (by the way its a pretty nice room for those of you who havent been there yet)

I'd play a HORSE, 20/40 sounds great..10/20 is ok. How does that PLO game look? I wish I was rolled for that!

I guess PLO never got going. There was a 10-25 NL game and eventually got down heads up between 2 guys and they bumped it up to 25-50.

I'm 3.5 hours away in Hutchinson and while I wouldn't get up there very often I'd enjoy being aware of a regular game if it gets going. Prefer 6-12 HORSE, HO, or whatnot.

I would talk to the 20/40 limit guys at Harrah's if you're not one of them.

We can get a horse game going on Sundays, Monday, Or Tuesdays. I talked to Brian the Poker Room Manager and Kansas is legal to spread it. I think its best to probably spread it in a 6-12 or 8-16 format to start with. Whos game? Text me 913-562-4660

I would play Monday nights anytime after 6:30. Any limit up to 20-40 would be fine. I just get tired of only playing Hold-em. This Monday is the NCAA Championship game so I would play starting the following Monday.

I'm itching to play live poker and I should be playing a tournament tonight at Harrahs, but the only drawback is it's a pineapple tournament so I was wondering if anyone has played one of these at Harrahs and can tell me if it's lazy, crazy, or regular pineapple and how well attended is it.

Well, I'm back a lot sooner than I would've liked, the tourney was NL Pineapple, it was about the fifth Saturday they've run it, and tonight we had nineteen players.

I did pick up one bit of news and that is Harrahs is having NL deep stack tournaments every Saturday starting next Saturday. For $120 ($100 to the prize pool), players will start with 10,000 in chips, 20 minute rounds with a ten minute break every four rounds, and the first four blinds are 25/50, 50/100, 75/150, 100/200. 100 players max and it looks like registration opens the Saturday before.

will be going to check out harrahs or hollywood soon as i just turned 21 but from what I hear the games are probably harder than they are down at downstream by joplin (I have played there since i was 18). I imagine there is some decent overlap between people who have played both places, can anyone confirm or deny the games are harder than downstream? Probably no real difference at 1/2 I suppose but 2/5 and PLO could be interesting. Downstream's average age is literally probably 70, I suspect thats not the case in Kansas City

Never been to the Hollywood and its been a long time since I played a ring game at Harrahs, but I've heard people say the game at Hollywood is juicy. I think it is 1/3 and not 1/2, though.

I'll be visiting from out-of-town in June, and staying near the Crown Center.

What's the nearest place to there where I could find 1/2 or 2/5 NLHE action, or both?

I wouldn't mind a few restaurant recommendations near Crown also. Thanks in advance, fellas!

I'm down in Wichita, and have never played at the casinos in KC.

I'm wondering about the 1/2NL games at Harrah's and Ameristar. I see the posts regarding the action at Hollywood, though they only spread 1/3NL, as far as low stakes are concerned.

Are the 1/2NL games at those other two any good? With 1/2NL and 1/3NL being spread in the same city, and even at the same casino at the same time (I believe Ameristar and Harrahs spread both at the same time), I'm wondering what the difference in play is at these games? I'm fine playing 1/3NL, but my bankroll would be happier if I played at 1/2NL when possible.

If the 1/3NL at Hollywood is far and away more juicier than the games at Ameristar and Harrahs, I feel I would do best playing at Hollywood.

Any thoughts much appreciated!

I like to play at Harrah's Friday-Monday as they get more tourists there and at Ameristar Tuesday-Thursday because Harrah's just becomes a bunch of old nits those days. Still haven't played at Hollywood yet, so can't help you there.

The feeling about the Hollywood game came from friends who've played all three.

Personally, I won't be going there if I ever get back to regular live poker as I don't like how Kansas has a more direct financial interest in the "ownership" of the casino.
