General rules of Poker do NOT apply at that place. I saw every kind of old-school, out dated move in the book float right by the dealers, and several poor floor calls by supervisor personnell. I travel quite often with my job, therefore, I frequent many casinos, and Harrah's KC is quite possibly holds the 1st place ranking for worst Poker room I've ever been in. Only good part of the experience was that the dealers were friendly to everyone. And, I'm inclined to think that they have been trained to ignore basic rules and procedures for their regulars. That being said, I think the issues that occur there are not necessarily the fault of the dealers, but more mid to upper levels of management. I'll be checking out Ameristar tonight.
Wow, thats not something i usually hear about Harrah's here in KC. Maybe you can give some more examples of what exactly was "floating" past the dealers.
Harrahs does have some weird rules on the book, but for the most part i find it to be a good room.
On Sunday we had a ratholer jumping from table to table, when he did it to our table a couple of us notified the dealer who told the floor immediately, floor came over got the story, asked how much he left with. Called his supervisor/shift mgr and the guy was forced to either leave or put the rest of the monies on the table. The Floors always seem to be responsive to reasonable requests.
I wouldnt try Ameristar if i were you, all the action is usually at Harrahs. And i cant imagine you'll like the rules in that room any better.
