Bad beats, kicker doesn't play here at all; you need your pockets to complete the quads, and I think with the mini bad beat, the table doesn't get paid....only on the regular bad beat.

I'm pretty sure I could identify some of your tablemates.

Thx for the report.

I like Harrah's in KC the few times I've been there. Came out with a profit every time, so I can't complain.

Any recommendations on which room is better for 1-2 NL? Planning on being there next weekend (9th and 10th).

1/2 will be available at all 3 casinos on the weekends. But Harrahs is the best bet imo, there will generally be more NL tables there than any other place. Probably true for all tables, but i only play NL so i dont really pay attention.

Harrahs is now awarding tier credits along w/ comp points. You can now earn a platinum or diamond card playing poker in kc. It might take a million hours but whatever.
Also Phil Laak was apparently there Friday and a 5/10 game was spread. I don't suspect kc sees too many poker celebrities so thought id mention it.

Does Ameristar ever have 2-5 games on the weekends?

I've seen it on occasion; you can call ahead and ask. But you're going to get the most tables of 1/2, 2/5, 20/40 and 3/6limit over at Harrahs.

headed to KC in a couple of weeks, will hit Harrahs - multiple people refer to the room as smokey - but Harrahs website says the room is non-smoking...

If I remember correctly, the room is non-smoking but close to a lot of slot machines where people do smoke. You kinda get used to it but it's pretty noticeable when you first walk in. No big deal.

Not a problem at all. The room is set off from the rest of the casino. I played there 16 hours straight a few weeks back, and not even a scent of smoke on my clothes when I left.

There's alot of poker action in K.C. Harrahs and the Ameristar. There's also alot of leagues and charitables where you can network with players and find games you like.

I don't know that Harrah's is running it every Wednesday. You can call the poker room and get the proper info.

Thanks ccmcmg. I had a buddy go there and said he could rake up at 2-5 while his buddy who he staked jus couldnt come away with any money so he was basically just covering his friends losses. Yeah I'm still planning to go but my buddy is a real broke ass so idk bout him anymore so we will see but I'm goin regardless. Anything else cool to do in the surrounding area?

Authur Bryants BBQ is a must. Go watch whoevers playing the Royals. Nightlife: the Plaza is nice, or the Power and Light District is pretty close to the casinos I think.

Harrahs has and I play 5/10 nl (capped at 5K) on Fridays. Game starts at 6 pm usually and usually has 2 5/10 nl games. 1 main game and a must move game. I think they play it on Saturday but I have only played it on Friday.
They play 25/50 nl every other Wednesday alternating between 10/20 nl and 25/50 nl. Harrahs has the most and best action in town. The other KC Casinos are usually dead.

There is only one other poker room in KC now...Ameristar. It has been a bit busier lately when I've been there but nothing like Harrahs of late. The Harrah's BBJ was big ($212K) and just hit, and is back to 175K or so. 10 days ago or so on Saturday night, all 18 tables~ were filled, and the wait list for many games was 20-30 for a good part of the night.

If you want downscale BBQ, Oklahoma Joe's is amazing. Royals lost their 7th straight last night, no surprise there. Power and Light is way overpriced, but can be a fun place to hang out if you don't care about paying $10 for a drink. The casinos are north of downtown - they aren't near any kind of night life, and would be about a 20 minute cab ride from Power and Light.
