Basically if the economy was better the room would be so much better. I mean it's hard to care about the money in a 1/2 game and cleveland never gets more than one 2/5 game. But it's not like cleveland is hell there just way better places in the country poker and otherwise.

Yesterday three guys received refunds fior the tournament because they had 10 alternates and no dealers. Discussion with floor was hilarious: they were basically told that it was the players fault they did not anticipate the shoe being short dealers when they signed up for the tournament because they were regulars.

Yesterday was a real joke. PLO was 20 lined up and didn't start until 1:30...they said that 6 dealers called off. Yes, people do get sick and we don't want to be dealt by a sicko, but come on Karen, this is Cleveland in February. Lets not be like the post office does at busy lunch time...only 1 cashier because everyone else is out to their 3 hour lunch...lol

Plan for it.

I've completely stopped going here, haven't set foot in the room since Sept or Oct. Playing a mix of home games and getting my occasional casino/tournament fix at Rivers or one of the Hollywoods. It never gets better, I stopped pretending it would

The desk started to hand out table placards with table numbers on them to players that are called off the wait list. This is a great idea and I for one am glad they did it. It will eliminate bonus squatters so to speak. Also will stop players from line jumping during busy hours.

Yeah I was up there for the first time in a while on Friday night and it seemed to be working quite well. Definitely a positive development.

There just lowering the ràke a buck or two and trying to promote it. It's probably a stretch to think it will go.

If 5/10 or higher gets going regularly, they need to drop the max BI for 2/5 to $500 or it'll be completely dead.

No one special is in town. Supposedly it was made the feature game due to players requesting it. Idk but I think it's a huge stretch to get the 25/50 game going and even the 10/20. This city rarely has more than one 2/5 table and now it's trying to get 10/20 and 25/50 action? Wow

A little bizarre especially since they don't plan to run it during the weekend. Might as well have the list up all the time and if it runs it runs, if not nbd.

The players basically organize the game and decide on a day to run it. This isn't something that can run with any regularity so the idea is to get as many players as possible to say "yes, I'll play on X-day" and then try to get the game going on that day. I'm sure it's going to have a few wealthy rec players that have already committed to playing said day. They aren't necessarily trying to get any random rec players to show up and sit, but if it happens great.

The fact that the discussion is about 25/50 or 10/20 NL just shows how f'd up this room is. Haven't played there in a couple of months and they continue to give me really no reason to come in. Continue to focus on the regulars and you will just continue to see a decline in play. Its just like the $1,500 quarterly tournament. Another ridiculous stretch...why not get a multi-starting day buy in that is in the $250 - $500 range that will draw in lots of local rec players...rather than a $1,500 buy in that will bring in relatively few new players..I don't get it. I don't understand the promo's, I don't understand the tournament strategy and I really have no idea who they are trying to get in there anymore...congrats on being stuck at 10-14 tables of which 80% are 1/2NL...

I go often enough to recognize regs despite not being one myself. You should hear them discuss these things. They absolutely love it. They also discuss the "poker economy" in the same breath, seemingly without a clue that these sorts of promos/games/tournies hurt the economy in the long run.

I agree 100%

It hear it all the time too. Come on Karen, don't let them beat you down. I agree with some of the new promo's. That $250 royal flush is nice but passing money out in $100 increments is a waste. Get the BBJ above $100k (on simple quads too). The $100 promo is a joke...you have to be lucky enough to have your table picked and then lucky enough to be the ONE...that means there will be 8-9 others pissed because they lost...and $100? come on.

So what is exactly stopping you from playing the monthly 500 tourney or 2/5nl??

Tournament.....don't play them here. 2/5nl...how about the fact that its like pulling teeth to get one going. And when it does eventually get going...reg, reg, reg, reg, oh non reg...wait reg that's gained 30 lbs.

Run two 2-5 NL games..... a $500 max game and a $1,000 max game and see which one runs more and how often. So simple. You will see 3-4 500NL max games running every weekend and zero 2-5 NL $1,000 max games running.

Put the "promotional money" into the BBJ and promote it. Lets make a deal, X-mas promo, plinko, harley promo....all cater to regs who will play anyway. Promos are supposed to bring in new players and get the room buzzing. As a reg, I would give back every penny I received from a promo to fill the room with rec players hoping to win the 6 figure BBJ.

But then the people who play won't get the money!! It's a textbook example of shortsightedness.

What 2/5? You mean the one that wasn't running tonight?

I used to play 2/5, but aside from the fact that it's 85% regs, I'd like to not stare at 3-4 empty seats the entire time and I'd like to not have the game break in an hour.

Ensuring that games stay active and rec happy is worth infinite more than somebody's EV in promo money.

It's amazing how gd stupid people have to be to not realize this.
