These aren't new tables that are being opened by players to check it down. These are leftover tables from earlier in the night that keep going short-handed for the promotion. What are you going to do, force them to leave because you can't force them to bet?

I would say yes. I think the horseshoe would do that. No drop under $10 right? If so, you can limp/check every hand.

Umm unless there's another group of people that does this, the group I know that has been playing PLO in the middle of most nights are Cleveland regs that have been playing out all their hands anyways (with the very occasional checking it down on blind vs blind)... I was just making the previous point if that situation were to ever come up.

Seems to me you go on a lot of gossip, why not join the game if you think there is an edge I heard a 3-6 player has won more than anyone else is she or he cheating-that game does not have much action?

More fun stuff. High hand should be great tomorrow, less action being a holiday. I have recently moved to the area, Room is great, lots of action and top dollar for promotions. The dealers seem a little green. This bounty charity tourney should draw a crowd-3k in bounties and 4k added.

Anyone have the details for this celebrity tournement? Have not been in the room for a while and as usual there's virtually no promotion of it other than a little blurb on bravo. Amount of bounties? Starting time? Cap on players? Starting chips?

If by celebrities, they mean local DJ's, it would make me puke. Cleveland has the worst On-Air "talent" I've ever heard (besides Jim Donovan).

Any truth they'll be cancelling yet another circuit event that was scheduled this winter?

At this point it'd probably be wise to consider all circuit events to be canceled until one actually runs.

Someone started a thread in MTT-Live about a WSOP Circuit event in St. Louis @ Lumiere Place with the same dates (3/20-3/31) as those slated for Cleveland, so I'm guessing you'll be hearing soon of it being cancelled again.

Hopefully, they give some d-list celebrity a half hour penalty for looking at their cell phone while they are not even in a hand. Only room in the country where this can happen lol.

yeah, and the people in charge of the circuit knew the circuit event in cleveland was canceled two months ago. i guess they are just too embarrassed to admit it.

I am playing in a 1-2 n/l game today (good action) a group of 3-6 limit players complaining again about high hand and a plo game. Another 1/2 player said the big fella doing all the complaining has a deal with a few other 3/6 players to split if they win/ is that not collusion? The other 1/2 players were chuckling that there were no complaints when the promo was for 200. Looking forward to the action with the draw for the quarter of a mil drawings. Good luck everyone

Congrats Cleveland you are officially 0-2 on hosting circuit events.

http://www.wsop.com/news/2013/Dec/46...014-EVENT.html

I thought the whole purpose of getting the casino was to increase tourism to the city, clearly an epic fail.

Well done Cleveland your loss is St Louis gain. They get the tourist dollars, the added restaurant guests, the travel taxes on hotels.

The reality is the Casino is just a giant parasite in downtown Cleveland.

No WSOP again. Screw you Cleveland Horseshoe. You suck!

Did anyone believe WSOP was actually coming? Probably the same people who believe this casino is only a temporary one.

That's too bad. I was looking forward to only driving 4 hours to go to another circuit soon. I wish they didn't have Cincinnati, Louisville, and Chicago all back to back >=[. Vacation days are hard to get that close together!

I am playing this morning the promo fund is 465k not 600k paying out 400 an hour high hand 24 hours a day is strong-never seen a high hand for that amount. Room is nice, If not happy play somewhere else. I transferred from out west, no comps, no specials, just a clean place to play and enjoy the action. That is all a player needs. SSounds like a couple of you have never been happy and never will be. Too bad. live is full of flops (haha)

The circuit event in 2013 was canceled due to the lack of sufficient space. Rock Gaming knew the Casino Commission was not going to change their stance for 2014. once the 2014 schedule was announced, rumors circulated that the 3rd floor was going to be expanded to hold another 60 or 70 tables,..... 4 or 5 months go by... they're not doing that,..... the 4th floor is going to be remodeled to hold the tournament events up there...... 4 or 5 more months go by.....Nothing was done...... Casino moves forward with a 2nd floor walkway from the parking garage off Ontario and that will be complete in a couple of more weeks.

So the 2014 Circuit Event is canceled in Cleveland and now will be held instead in St. Louis

Reality is that Rock Gaming Management does not see it as a good investment to spend the dollars necessary to hold the WSOP Circuit Event. The gaming market is saturated. Revenue is not what was expected. Northfield opens in a couple of weeks, more money will be siphoned out of their coffers.. and please don't bring up Phase 2, the construction of the "NEW" casino behind Tower City along the river. Why would they spend another 300 million when current revenues are falling below expectations ?

I would not be surprised that once the "12 Day of Xmas Giveaway" is over, along with the $400 high hand, and most of the promotional fund is depleted. We start hearing rumors about "changes" to the existing "30 table" room and as luck would have it those rumors will turn into reality

Anybody that thinks Poker players are important customers to a casino are sadly mistaken.

I really don't understand why people complain about the promotions. Obviously it would be nice to get >$1 an hour, but $1 an hour is an industry standard.

Every complaint I have about the the casino is:
  • Floors grossly mishandling 2/5 must move
  • Slower dealers/dealers not being allowed to keep their own
  • Rules that were intended for blackjack/table games but show up at the poker tables. These include no phones on the rail, not being dealt in if you have a phone in your hand, etc.

I think a general culture of the regs having loud and intimidating strategy conversations at the table while talking down to/ignoring recreational players makes the games a lot worse. The headphones and silent treatment really really hurt the games.

Not complaining about the promotions. They have been fine.. I like the $400 an hour high hand.

and I agree your other comments and they should be addressed by "Poker" management...who unfortunately has basically no authority to do anything...

I question whether or not they will keep a "30 table room" well after the Holiday traffic subsides after the "12 day Promo".

Northeast Ohio dwarfs the rest of the state when it comes to player activity but there is very little done to promote the room. Have you ever seen a sign or poster related to a Poker Promotion or Event outside the Poker room?
As I have stated, revenue is lower than projected. Don't you think the bean counters for Rock Gaming / Caesars are looking at reducing overhead and increasing Dollars per square foot. Pit games or even better for them, would be unmanned machines that would bring in a lot more revenue than 10 poker tables used about 5 or 6 hours / 2 days a week.
That Caesars Entertainment / WSOP logo on the floor means nothing.... their rooms in Vegas, sans Caesars Palace. , have no more than 10 or 15 tables and none of them are named as top flight "Got to play There" rooms like the Bellagio, Aria, or Venetian. which by the way are all at $2 an hour comps... So it's probably not surprising that even with their mega bad beat jackpot they still can't get the players to play in their rooms.

too bad..... the room is real nice and with the correct marketing strategy and management support it could be a real asset to the casino and the city.

Also

as noted here on 2+2 , Hollywood Columbus had laid off or fired dealers and floor personnel, due to " a decrease in Business".

I can't see this going unnoticed in Cleveland, Cincinnati and Toledo.
