The number of cash games that run does not necessarily correlate directly with the number of runners you'll get for a particular type of tournament.
Despite there being very few PLO8 cash games anywhere in the country, even in Vegas during the Series (partially because it was overtaken by Big O), there have a decent number of runners for most of the PLO8 MTTs, including at WSOP-c sites where there are practically no PLO8 cash games ever. I was actually surprised that some of the smaller PLO MTTs in Vegas got fewer runners than their PLO8 equivalent MTTs, despite PLO cash games being hugely more popular than PLO8 cash games...
That being said, I definitely think they should have both a PLO
and a PLO8 MTT as part of the circuit schedule (which, btw, isn't for a long time...).
(P.S. That previous post about a monthly PLO8 MTT was a rumor- PLO
and PLO8 MTTs are both no longer part of the weekly/monthly tournaments at the Shoe.)
