When the min. buy in is 50.00 and 3 or more people buy in for the min., it is completely unbeatable. Only the house will win.

Played yesterday for a few hours and went on a break for the free buffet, and it was a complete sea of people down there. The entire area was just swarmed with people. This was about 1pm Friday. I figured it be busy but that was ridiculous. That really didn't bother me though as I just ate somewhere else. What really pissed me off was the valet around 3pm when I left. I waited 50 minutes for my car as did many others! It was out of control, valet people were running all over the place. I don't go down there too much on the weekends but is that how the valet is every weekend??

Played a little bit yesterday. The games(2/5) were pretty good. The dealers were decent so no complaints there. The floor and staff were extremely professional and helpful. Getting the parking voucher in the poker room was nice. Not sure if anyone knows the poker room manager and might have some pull but it'd be cool if we could get them to run a quarterly 1k on a Saturday with a 50 or 100k guarantee.

It's a capped 10% rake and that's the important part. The cap is 50$. So max rake is 5$ even with 1$ for jackpot, it's 6 bucks out of a 50$ pot. It's not that bad if the pool is fishy

But when the novelty runs out the games will get harder

Max rake is 6 not 5

Not sure about Cleveland, but the last time Horseshoe Tunica ran this promo, live poker play did not count toward it. So I'd check with the floor myself. Sounds like it may count in Cleveland considering cardking's post.

Maybe on your table, on mine it was a 5$drop 1$ jackpot (6 total)

Did they lower it or has it always been 5 max at 1/2 NL? I was there two weeks ago and it was 6 at 2/5 NL and PLO. I also played a little 1/2 PLO and I'm fairly certain it was 6 there too.

How come I never see a table with an ante? It would help cover the rake. Is it not allowed ?

I can say that they were counting poker time as of last week.

As far as strategy to avoid long waits, I think it's best to plan your meals at odd times. A late lunch / early dinner would probably be good, like between 2-5pm. Besides those types of times, I'd imagine it can be a mad house. I ate on Wednesday at around 8pm. When I got there they were "at capacity", but the line I was fourth in line and got in in less than 10 minutes. I ate like a savage to get back to the game, but by the time I was done, the line was probably 30-40 people deep.

Poker times count for free buffets. You can only earn one per day, you have to take your TR card down to the buffet area and swipe for a ticket (like you would for the free parking). Your ticket is good for 72 hours.

I got one Saturday PM and used it for Sunday brunch (no line or crowd). If you're going to gorge yourself why try to do it in under an hour?

As for valet the longest I ever waited (even during baseball games) was 15 minutes. Valets have all been OK except had one change all my A/C settings when he parked it.

The valet time may have been so long because they were giving away cameras to certain TR members. It was just unbelievable how long it took.

Any chance of getting a mid-stakes LHE game (20-40+) going on Wednesday or Thursday night? I'll be driving through and am considering stopping by.

And as other ppl have said in this thread, poker counts, so 90 minutes of poker play earns the 25 Tier necessary to get the buffet. In the link, the "gamble 30" refers to the minimum amount of time you have to gamble, which is 30 minutes. So no high slot/video poker degening allowed for a meal within 5 minutes.

Said degen could get in the time in 5 minutes then sit there for 25 min

So I talked to a floor guy and he said 2 hours of poker will do it, and also something that I don't think the website makes clear is that you can do it every day (play 2 hours -> free buffet).

Sick.

What is with the ruling that a player does NOT have to shaw a hand at showdown? In the PLO game last night and a player bets and is called on the river and the player who bet wont show his hand. The other player gladly turns over 2 pair on a flush and stratight board and takes the pot. I was in the hand and wanted to see the other players hand as he bet 3 streets. I asked, dealer said no. I asked to call the floor, he said no (with an attitude--Great Customer Service!!!!) so I asked to talk to Jeremy and he then got a bigger attitude and said, "Ask whoever you want, answer is the same no matter what". I wanted a reason why.

If you bet and I call, I want to see your hand sometimes. This was one of those times. How about a staff member chime in.

I do not represent the room in any way whatsoever, but the Cleveland Horseshoe does not have a an IWTSTH rule ("I want to see that hand" rule as it is called in these forums.) There are differing opinions on whether or not the rule is good or bad for poker, even though it is the standard in most rooms. Although it may or may not have started that way historically (depending on who you ask), rooms today use the rule to prevent collusion. Some people feel the rule isn't effective, abused, or perhaps some other reason and choose not to have one. At the Horseshoe, you can only ask to see a hand when collusion is suspected and in the presence of a floor. I hope that helps. If not, use the search function and search IWTSTH in this forum.

Since you seem to know what you are talking about (you must play a lot at the HS), what happens if someone bets the river and I call and he doesnt turn his hand over and just sits there and says good call? Do I have to show my hand? Is it a game of chicken? Can I win a hand without showing my cards if the other player mucks and I do after him?

Thinking about making a trip to the 'shoe to play some PLO - how big does the 1/2 play over the weekend? 2/5? I'm looking to play in a game where the average stack is roughly $1k-$2k - my guess is that 2/5 is the better option. Also curious, what's the open on a straddle in either game and how popular is straddling? Thanks for any help

1/2 open is $8 and 2/5 open is $20. Straddles are common at both games. The 2/5 would go straddle-double-triple if they allowed it. For multiple $1k stacks the 2/5 is the game. That game can play very deep at times and $5k stacks arent uncommon.
