Where the **** did those dealers from those 3 games that went down go?

Holy **** has anyone heard of OT? Let those dealers deal and make bank (even with the ****ty tip sharing all the hours will add up).

Meet the customer demand. If I was there as a customer, saw the mile-long lists, and the 8, now 11 empty tables, I'd be ****ing livid.
from talking to some dealers, it seems they are practically living at the casino. its possible that too many were just exhausted at that point.

nice thats nice

also, about the cups, it was funny at the beginning they were serving mixed drinks in glasses that were too big for the cupholders. think they figured that out since.

Last night the waiting list for 1/2 NL was over 50 people long. They had at least 7 tables that were not in use. I understand that they may have let some dealers go and maybe a few have quit, but they need to figure out a way to open these tables when people are waiting. They could always have a floor person deal. There seem to be plenty of them.

People that are just 'giving poker a shot' are not going to deal with the insanity and ineptitude that's going on in this room.

Side rant: What's the deal with the railbirds that are allowed to stand behind their buddies at the table and drink/watch all night? That freaking tilts me.

I was part of the opening of a room in the PA/DE area, and when it first opened, the dealers on swing shift (evening) regularly went 10-12 hours a night, 6 nights a week, some dealers doing doubles, to meet customer demand in the beginning. They made bank and they were happy about it.

It's going to happen at the start. Like I wrote earlier in the thread, there was a ton of info out there on how rooms that opened with fewer tables than the demand (Delaware Park, Harrahs Chester, Parx, Sands Bethlehem) did things and it was clear by going with 30 tables they fully expected to run a 30-table room. To not even have the dealers to cover 30 tables is...

It's not good business.

Anyone interested in playing 10/20 mixed tonight? Assuming we can get a table later. I don't want to drive an hour to not get a game or to wait on a long list for the other games.

syxx, i will try to start a game with you. im no fan of 08 but will give it a shot if thats what the demand is. would also be amenable to adding other games to the mix.

I prefer O8 and am also open to adding any and all games they will allow us to play, it makes playing poker enjoyable. O8 was definitely the more action of the games last night vs the limit hold'em orbits. Plenty of pots going four ways to showdown. One cool thing about the shoe is 5 bets is the cap in multiway pots as opposed to the traditional four at a lot of places. Couple O8 pots got capped multiway on the flop and turn. Would love to add Stud8, limt hold'em and stud hi are my least favorite, but I'm open to anything. Side note, draw games have not been approved yet, fwiw

I won't be able to make it up until let's say 7:30. I will e-mail Jeremy to see if it's possible to save a table, we will have to start short, possibly heads-up obviously.

Most definitely, it's the only way I'll play. If you'll come, that'll make four, we started three last night and filled up within 45 minutes. That is assuming we can get a table.

They did end up having a few of them deal last night. The floor guy who was dealing told me they had 13 people call off and that's why they didn't have enough tables going. But he also said that they're taking a bunch of people from the early morning shift when the rooms pretty empty and putting them on swing shift so they can get more tables going in prime time.

1020lhe ran for awhile. started short and was amazing with tons of straddles, backraises, and capped pots. then got filled with rocks.

jeremy said they like limit games and would help keep one running every night. i think he realizes if it starts shorthanded, it will fill up quick with nostalgic regs or ppl waiting to nit up the lol nl games.

Having dealers call in sick would not be a problem if they kept their own tips...At least not as big a problem. Weird that there were about 10 extra dealers at 7 am one day. Cannot really comPlain though, at least I'm not at nautica

Honest question--what is lol about nl games? Are the nl games in CLE horrible?

I was in Cleveland for a couple of days and stopped into check out poker room.

i don't like the chairs ( No wheels, no height adjustment )
No cup holders ( A accident waiting to happen )
Players allowed to talk on cell phone while in the hand
Only $ 200 for 1/2 NL ( What about $300 )
I'm lucky I got there when I did, When i left 152 PPL on wait list for 1/2 NL (Friday)

I could care less if I ever went back there again.

maybe they are calling the guy at the other end of the table?...like we cannot overhear the conversation?? or the guy from surveilance is reading their cards?? i honestly cannot see how being on the phone can give anyone an advantage.

why dont you have the balls to play 5/10 NL or the PLO games than the wait is much shorter.

and no cup holders is a sign of class, moran.

in summary we don't need you in our fine city. gp back to wherever the hell you are from!

I just hate nl. its a personal preference. I suck at it and it makes me bored.

games do seem tough to me tho.

doubtful the 1 - 2 games are very tough...just limp limp limp passive...not really that much action most times than spurts of big action, crazy dumb pots.

some of the 2 - 5 is a bit tougher as a few good grinders play these. not real hard. the 5 - 10 not really so great, more good players in the area than you think because of online being gone mostly and there are a few very good players from the home game scene.

so in summary 1 - 2 and 2 -5 are good.

unfortunately for the people who started maybe 8 - 10 years ago when limit was what was played mostly, big limit action is not coming back. the gambling types enjoy NL and PLO. however, considering there is a big base of 1 - 3 players, obviously some who win big will want to play higher limit (some will also play NL). Have also talked to players who were around the poker scene when limit games were big and a few would still play limit. so in summary if you picked a day of the week or two to have a bigger game it might get off the ground or keep forcing the 5 - 10 to run.

ive only played a few sessions of 2-5 and 2 of the tables seemed very profitable for a good player (proly slightly profitable for me) and the other was lol rockish. never played 1-2 but im sure its easy.

its weird that the action junkies like nl and plo when its mostly just limp limp limp bet the nuts and call down good hands. like, it doesnt seem like action to me, but im proly missing something.

It will kill a BBJ ( How would you like to lose out on $20,000 because some at the table was on the phone ) It slows the game when they have to ask what the action is to them.

If you have a bankroll to play the bigger games all the more to you.

The wait list were the same here when the casino opened. That will change in time.

So far this is the only casino that I have seen with out cup holders on cash tables. What till a few drinks get spilled and we will see how much class there is.

Just my take on what I saw.

If you came to Hollywood Casino Penn National I know there thing you would not like.

One being you can't wear you hood up when wearing a hoodie. (who knows why)

You get zero in comps for playing poker. No need to even have a card if all you play is poker.

The $6 rake plus the $1 BBJ is the same, still to much

So you're saying that even though the room allows a player to be on the phone, they will also kill a bbj for a player being on a phone? Seems legit.

Bellagio and Wynn in Vegas are the same way. I believe they are trying to achieve the same aesthetic. Yes spilled drinks will occur, but I think I am starting to prefer no cup holder tables.

The better rule re phones at the table is to forbid it. Here's a good thread discussing the issue in depth:

I do like the 9 to a table instead of 10 to table. With 10 ppl to a table it feels to tight.
