Moreover, one of the floors said in response to someone yesterday "We're giving away $500 free dollars, you can follow our rules" when someone objected to some rule regarding the promo. Wtf? We contributed every last dollar to that fund. Their attitude is just so awful.
Yeah there are just so many things wrong with that statement lol.
Where the promo succeeds:
- Brings people in
- It's exciting
Where the promo fails:
- Requires you to commit all or some of your stack to win your own money (it is OUR money after all), and as a result...
- Inherently is more advantageous to limit players since the risk to win is significantly lower compared to NL and PLO
- Incentivizes min buyins which is really bad for the game
- During the work day, which is a problem because more money is contributed to the promo fund in the evening when there are more games running, and those evening players are unable to win it back. This wouldn't be an issue if there were evening promos.
The 50k freeroll is even worse. Tournament players should not be able to win promo money, period. It's distasteful and wrong to use money contributed by cash players to increase tournament traffic.
Promos should:
- Be won by the players that contributed it
- Not directly require risking more money to win it
- Increase cash game traffic
None of the current promos fit that common sense criteria.
