They should have a Omaha 8 tourney in the Labor Day series. IMHO.

Its not shady but the OCCC will figure it out. Its obv whoever approves this from OCCC is totally clueless to anything poker.

Also taking rake for the seats they giveaway out of the promotional funds is a joke, but that horse has been beaten enough.

While I do agree that 200 isn't the optimal cap on 1/2, I am not sure where this "waiting to cooler eachother" idea is coming from. It's still 100bb poker with plenty of play to push your edges, and plenty of bad regs to exploit whatever tendancies they may have. It does sometimes happen that you get a table full of old nits, and if you can't get them to open up then a table change should do the trick.

Baffles me this room cannot just look at the Bravo app and get ideas for promos from other rooms.

And I for one agree, the 50-200 buy-in for 1/2 needs to be tweaked. And they should have a 5/5 game with 300-1000 buy-in.

My local game at 1/2 is 50-400 buy in. Guess it's just what I'm used to. Be there on October 22-23 if anyone wants to say hi.

I do not have time for the foreseeable future to update the FAQs in this thread when it's needed or post updates, tourney schedules, promos, etc. If anyone is is interested in doing this, please let me know and I can get you the info you need to do so.

I have heard Hollywood will be putting their poker room back in the basement and attempting some pretty cool rake promo. Not sure of amounts but heard maybe $3 max rake. Hopefully this forces JACK to make some changes.

Highly doubt it.

Is o8 dead at Jack Cincy? I played in the game a couple months ago, but I'm not ever seeing it show on the Bravo app. Would love to make the 70 mile trip to play some live o8.

I've got plans to stay at Cincy this labor day weekend purely to play cash at Jack. ~4 hour drive from where I'm at. I see now that they have a Labor Day tournament series going on. How much of an effect would this have on the number of cash tables over the weekend?

I looked at the Bravo app last night and saw that there were a 193 entrants for the first event. And it was Seniors only! Just 5 cash tables running. Should I be worried?

They don't take call-ins, and the tournaments are held in the poker room so you should expect long waits. Better to arrive early and check Bravo periodically. There is also a big fireworks show on the river Sunday night that will cause major traffic problems that evening so keep that in mind as well.

Just go to Columbus or Louisville if you only want to play cash. I live 5 mins away and will probably be headed to either to play cash on Saturday.

Coming to town for a wedding in a couple weeks. Plan on playing big PLO game on Friday. Anyone know any of the following info.
1) approximate start times of main and feeder game?
2) good bad stories surrounding the game?
3) any changes made at the casino? I haven't been since it switched to Jacks.
4) does Jacks offer status matching with Total Rewards or MLife?

Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the info! Did not know about the fireworks. Might regret not getting a hotel downtown.

Louisville is closer; might give that a shot (assuming you mean the Horseshoe). Part of me still wants to visit Cincinnati, though, even if not playing at Jack. They have one of the best (IMO) south Indian vegetarian restaurants and it's been a while since I ate some good Indian food!

Your welcome. I would say it wont be horrible until 930pm or so after the fireworks, but not a sure thing. This is an article from last year, but it should be accurate. Pretty much the same closures every year. http://www.wcpo.com/entertainment/lo...the-riverfront Have fun!

I have played a few times on the night of the fireworks. Once I left shortly before the fireworks started and had little problem getting out of downtown and on to 75 south in short order. Another time I just stayed until 12:30 or 1:00 AM and everything had died down by then. Just plan on doing one or the other. Don't plan on coming down mid afternoon and leaving at 10.

Currently waiting on a 1-2 seat. Been waiting for 25 or so minutes. They have at least 6 empty tables that I see, but not opening them. Not sure who thought it would be a good idea to not have extra dealers tonight expecting the extra demand.

There is a finite number of dealers and I'm sure most were working.

In a cash game, you can be on your phone even while in a hand. It can be on the rail. Tournaments, only while not in a hand. Headphones and sunglasses are allowed.

The 5/5 starts on Wed and by Friday there is usually a 5/5 and 25/50 going until early Monday morning.

The game is super deep. The 5/5 game and higher doesn't have many short stackers. Tons of gamble.

The casino has a separate rewards program. Still a buck an hour for poker not tied to Mlife or TR. GL

Too hard to get a 8/16 game in the room on a regular basis. Hollywood had one a week for about a year but it never had over 30 players.

I realize that and they opened more games when the later shift showed up at I think 7. Just seems like on a weekend when you knew there would be high demand that you would want to have every table running and could have had a few people come in a little early. At 4 am they had dealers at the end of their shifts standing around or going home early as there were only a handful of games running. They should have had a few of them come in early to cover the peak hours instead of staying so late when the room has emptied out.

Of course this is just an observation of mine based on what I saw. Maybe they tried to get people to come in early or changed schedules as much as they could and were only able to open ~25 of the tables.

#1. Theres NEVER a 8/16 game. Its 6/12 w/10/20 kill.

#2. During a series a lot of players come from out of town just for the extra action the series draws. Therefore players who wouldnt normally be there for a weekly tournament that "never had more than 30 players" might just be there.

#3. I realize NL is great for tourneys but that doesnt change the fact that other forms of poker do exist & a few of us play them.

#4. 1/2 NL holdem has ruined poker.
