Me and my friend went down today for some 1-2 action.

Our table was all polite and people talked freely. The action was kinda tight except for a few calling stations that you tried your best to get into a pot with, except I only caught a monster when they were low on chips. Turned a str8 flush and only managed to make about 30 bucks total. Another monster I had to chop the calling station's stack with another player.

I don't have any complaints about the layout or anything, but they HAVE to get their **** together about drink orders. With no self-service drink station, your options are to buy a $3 pepsi in the gift shop, wait 25 minutes in line at one of the other shops, or wait for Hailey's Waitress to come around with her ipad, then another 30 minutes waiting for your drink to show up, and then you have to dig around in your pocket for cash while everyone at the table waits for you to get YOUR **** together. And you can't double up on your drink order. We had one poor guy trying to order another drink with his full beer, and a few of us at the table tried to convince her it was ours, lol. From talking to a couple of the dealers, the cash only thing is something they are having to do because of some ordinance, but it is a real problem.

That said, the chip runners and having the cage in the poker room is sweet.

In Ohio, per the ORC, all alcohol must be bought with cash. It is illegal to give away alcohol for free in Ohio, or to use any type of token, beer nickel, drink cup etc. This is generally ignored in most hole in the wall places but in all casinos in Ohio you will have to pay cash for any and all alcohol.

You can however tip with chips in all the other Ohio casinos.

In non-poker news at the new Horseshoe Cincinnati (I only play MTTs, so I'll have to wait until this summer to play poker there)...

I was at the Horseshoe from 8 AM Saturday to 5 AM Sunday playing mostly blackjack (close to 18 hours total playing time). My average bet was $40-50 and only earned about 1000 TR Tier points (bought in for $1k at the table I stayed at the whole time). BJ table limits were $15/25 min until about 4 PM (Saturday) when they all went up to $25 min. Still $25 min when I left at 5 AM. High roller room is $50/100 mins, maybe a 500? Baccarat is $100 min (their only tables, none on the main floor) and there was a VIP "reserve only" room for blackjack. I believe their Video Poker machines went up to $5 and $10 (x5 credits) in the High Roller slot room. Just outside the High Roller room was a $100 min craps table as well. They had a ton of outside Advisors from across the country helping out (the red badges) but unable to "do" anything. Everyone was very friendly although the dealers were not thrilled about working loooong hours (16 pit dealers quit already and it's been open less than a week). A lot of the dealers were understandably terrible so if you play just watch to make sure they're doing everything correctly (and don't speak up if they pay out a losing bet or pay a bet for the next hand to someone who didn't have any cards that hand because you'll get an earful... ha). The floor was packed before dinner time and got more packed as the night went on (it was still packed when I left at 5 AM). Lots, and I mean LOTS, of inner city types of people, but if you teach them how to play they warm up to you very quickly, no matter how scary some people look. I kept thinking about The First 48. Oh, and if you're a single guy like myself, wow. More of a "party scene" than either Hollywood Lawrenceburg or Columbus (and I thought CBus was a bit of a party scene). Long lines and waits for a lot of things, but I would imagine this dies down a little after the novelty of the new casino wears off. I really liked it, but I'm biased now because I did very well at the tables. Oh yeah, and not living in a big city I'm not used to seeing people I recognize like Andrew Whitworth walking around (we only get Dave Chappelle here in Dayton).

I guess at some point Saturday they took it away for some reason. I played today and we started without a kill but a couple of hours in a floor came over and gave us the button and we added the kill. I would expect the 6-12 game to always have a kill in the future.

Agree on the dealers and play of blackjack in general. I played maybe 50 hands and saw some wild stuff. Lots of splitting face cards and hitting and busting with 5 and 6s showing. The dealer encouraging a player to split 4s with a face card was interesting. Same dealer also looked at me like I was crazy when I asked for a hit on 14 with an 8 showing. He also forgot to look for an ace in the hole and we played a hand with the dealer having blackjack. My favorite was when a lady had aces and he let her split them a 3rd time. She got a King on her 3rd hand, and of course got paid 3:2 on it. Pretty funny stuff.

I would say I made about $400 on dealer errors alone (bulk of that being a hand where I doubled down a $60 bet and lost, only to get paid $120 and kept my losing bets). Plus it's a huge advantage when they misdeal in a way that everyone gets cards (say they forgot to deal a dealer hole card the first time through), call the floor, and the floor instructs everyone that the next card is the dealer's and they can play the hand if they choose. I got out of a few 14's against face card type situations by pulling bets back.

I guess that's what you get when your dealers have unpaid training for a few months and only get a $300 bonus...??? No real incentve to learn the game and how to deal.

What do you mean by "party scene?" Do they have some sort of club in there?

I understand the beer and liquor thing, but they have to get a drink station going for people. I get pretty thirsty when I play poker and the wait was HORRENDOUS.

Oh yeah, your right for sure. They need a drink station bad. Even HSI has a drink station.

There's no club. I think he just meant there were a lot of people there walking around, drinking, having fun, etc. It was a very festive atmosphere on Friday and Saturday night.

It kinda seemed like the casino was the club. A lot of eye candy roaming around which was nice. All i could do was laugh when I saw the line for smoking, never seen anything like that before.

The HORSE switched to 6/12 OE a little while. They may get it going again tonight. Floor was good about letting us play whatever we wanted as long as it was unanimous at the table.

I am going to be in Cincinnati for the first time for a couple of days. I am staying at the Millenium hotel, and how feasible is it to walk to the casino?

What are some other options for getting there? From my understanding the Millenium is a little less than a mile away.

I wouldn't walk a mike in that area of town , I don't know if millennium is a participating hotel w shuttle or not , someone I believe posted the link in this thread - if they are not , if be cabbing it
