I'm thinking of making a trip down from the Cleveland area. Do any of you local guys have a recommendation for a clean/cheap hotel near the casino?

I've never played with chip runners. How do I get them? tip them? rebuy from them?

Tell the dealer you need chips and they'll yell for one. Some people tip them some don't

I played 1-2 and 2-5 Monday night. Personally, I love the 2-5 with 500 max.

All in all I think it will be a good room. 1-2 was pretty aggressive, but weak players. 2-5 was super tight.

Dealers have some rules to learn, but that will come in time.

I'll be back over Friday.

They said "summer" with a WSOP event sometime in 2014.

They are partnering with a lot of the major downtown hotels so if you book through the Horseshoe website and use Total Rewards, you may get a free/discounted room...There are about 7 hotels they partner with in a mile or two of the casino and most even offer shuttle service to and from the casino.

Do they have an event center that is built into the casino? Cleveland said they were going to have a WSOPC event in 2013 but that was nixed by the OCCC because they did not have a facility onsite to hold it.

This is probably your best bet. The standard rates for downtown hotels are pricey as you'd expect but I was playing with a guy last night who got a $65 rate at the Cincinnatian which is a very nice hotel. If that doesn't work your next best bet is to look across the river in Covington or Newport.

They sure do.

There is a holiday inn right across the river. It's less than 2 miles I believe. There is also a comfort or quality near the same spot. Heard nothing about shuttle service though.

The trash was in full force last night. Not saying anyone's name but what's the over/under on that player with the entourage getting banned from the room? "Dey on our turf now. You in our neck ah da woods." What does that mean?

Might make the trip from Columbus to check it out in the next couple weekends... how have the wait lists been looking? Is it possible to call ahead to get on the wait list or do you have to come directly to the poker room first?

Waits haven't been bad, they've been really good about opening new tables as soon they have enough people. They don't take call-ins.

I dunno, maybe it means you should be more tolerant of people who are different than you. I would think a guy named "ChasinScrila" would be able to figure it out.

I'm not sure who he was mentioning in particular but last night at least there seemed to be some pretty unsavory characters in the room. Some getting disrespectful with dealers or other players for no reason and slowing down the game. I can tolerate it to a point especially if they are good for the game (fishies). I can def see how it can be a turn off to some players.

I'm extremely tolerant of it. But when you have people taunting the whole room about how "Dis our turf" for an extended time, it really takes away from newer players experience in the room. They were great for the games, but I would think the floors would eventually say something. I'm not sure where you're going with the internet handle needle, but nice try.

I agree with this. People want to gamble in a comfortable environment. They don't want to feel like a shoot out is going to erupt or that they are going to be mugged walking to their car.
