I predicted this would happen and I'll tell you exactly why it did. Sunday morning, some guy woke up and thought to himself "Hey! I have a great idea. This is the first week for tournaments at the Horseshoe. Everybody will be over there playing, but Hollywood still has a 10k guarantee! I'll go there instead and cash in on what's sure to be a massive overlay. Brilliant!"
The problem is that 100 other people had the exact same brilliant idea so there was no overlay and they easily hit the guarantee and then some. The same thing happened every time it snowed on either of the 10k guarantee days at Hollywood. Everyone assumed everyone else would stay home and the tournaments would actually get more players than usual despite the bad weather.
What the Horseshoe needs to do is slap a 15k guarantee on their Sunday tourney. I don't think the buy-in is the issue here at all; most people who can afford the $150 can scrape together an extra $60 I would imagine.
