That's the problem with trying to start a game...even guys who say they are interested aren't interested enough to show up when they said they would.
How they can get 3 or more 3/6 games and no more than two people interested in 6/12 is beyond me...don't these people know that the rake is killing us in 3/6?
Wait, don't answer that...I already know.
I apologize Wayne. I had every intentions of being there, but I got held up and could not make it.

6/12 is so close to 3/6 you'd be better off trying to start a regular 10/20 game and picking up a new crowd.

Well that would be the ideal situation but I was trying to be realistic...but sure, 10/20, 15/30, all great, but, baby steps.

Dont worry about it...even if you had shown up it wouldn't have mattered..we only had 2 others on the list.

Guys I don't want to be negative but the 6/12 will never go. This casino is 1-2 nl, 2-5, 5-10. 1-2, 2-5, and 5-10 PLO, and 3-6 limit, with the only 6-12 being Omaha 8 or better.

LiveActionPro, you must not be aware that the 6/12 limit hold em game actually did go several times in the first couple weeks the room was open..I know cause I played in it. You may be right that the game will never go, but it would be because not enough players want to play it, not because the room doesn't spread it.

This may be of interest to some....I just heard a commercial for the casino and the detail that caught my attention was current loyalty card customers at other casinos(Hollywood) can take their current card to Horseshoe and get the same level of card there. Looks like they really trying to stick it to em.. There were good offers for new members too but I cant recollect all of it right off.

Correct, it did go in the beg, but that game as is good as dead. Just being real. And of course th room will spread anything, but you hit the nail on the head when you said not enough people wan to play it.

The same level card for same level card is a common practice, they just don't advertise it often.

Since a higher limit hold em game doesn't appear possible, and as one of the better LHE players in the room in my humble opinion, I'm considering jumping into the 6/12 O8 game that goes regularly, but I don't want to be a complete fish when I do so. I've played a limited amount of Omaha, and even less in split-pot games, but I'm wondering how steep my learning curve would be to become proficient in that game if I'm coming into it as a very solid LHE player?
Curious as to what your thoughts would be on that...thanks.
I don't think the learning curve is that steep. I haven't play O8 here yet but I did play a few times back when it used to run at Hollywood. Of course I was already very familiar with Omaha from PLO so the only new thing for me was the split pot and low strategy. I got the hang of it pretty fast and felt comfortable at the table. I have seen people attempt the NL->PLO transition and fail miserably but most of them weren't very good hold'em players to begin with. If you're a solid wining LHE player I don't think you'll have too much of a problem picking up O8.

I haven't played it myself but I've talked to a couple people who have and the general consensus is that the action's pretty good.

I'm not sure what the rooms policy is but last night I was sitting at the only 3/6 limit table running and a player racked up just over $300 and got up and left...about 20-30 mins he came back and sat at the same table with basically all the same players and bought in for $40. I didn't say anything because I didn't want to cause any problems but is this allowed? I mean I can understand if a few hours had gone by or he decided to go play NL or PLO but 30 mins and he buys in for almost $300 less than what he just had at the exact same table. This is pretty much going south IMO. No one else seemed to have a problem with it and multiple people pointed it out. They were saying things like "couldn't stay away huh?" and "this guy just built his stack from $40 to over $300"

I think it would be a bigger issue on the NL tables though I haven't played limit for awhile....it would be a good question for the floor.

Weirdly, the other day, I had some nit complaining that a guy with a 200bb stack switched to our NL table. The nit had 100bb...I asked why it mattered and he said the guy could just bully the table.

That's news to me. I'm no expert no bed bugs but the place has only been open a couple months, it seems like a short time to develop a serious problem. The source of this rumor wasn't someone who works at Hollywood was it? I ask because I've heard two different negative rumors from Hollywood people that turned out to not be true.

The policy is you have to be gone at least 1 hour or you have to buy in for what you left with.

I played the Deepstack at Hollywood over the weekend and overheard a dealer at the table behind me telling people how unsafe the "Shoe" was. I wouldn't be surprised if this kind of nonsense didn't happen all the time.

I heard something very similar while playing the Saturday 3:15 tourney this past week... Dealer at table 99( I was at 98) kept saying how he would feel safer going to Horseshoe Hammond than Horseshoe Cincinnati. Completely ridiculous. Security is just not an issue IMHO. Not to mention it is in the interest of both the casino and the city to ensure that it is safe.

The Shoe does not have an onsite hotel. They use several downtown hotels (any of which could have a bed bug problem).

Bed bugs don't just live in beds. There have been movie theaters and restaurants infested. Again I'm confident this is just a viscous rumor started by someone with something against this place, but it could happen to a casino in theory.

It can be a great game, very loose. Generally two tough players, one or two action players and a couple nitty regs.
