At least they have made one good change now that the $100 chips can be in play in the 1/2 games. Easier to hold just a few of those in your pocket for rebuys.

1/2 but it may be difficult to get in a game. They are running a tournament series, so most of the dealers will be focused there. Hollywood is 20 minutes away and has a 1/3 game with a $300 cap that might be a better spot to play cash.

I spoke with a floor manager last night about the fees for the tournaments. She informed me that these fees are standard. There is a huge disparity for buyin levels. For example, the main is a $1k buyin. The structure is $900 (prizepool) + $79 (fee) + $21 Optional Bonus Buy (dealer toke). Obviously, this is a great value. It is a 10% fee (with dealer toke) The fee is 8% plus they are running a promo where you get $50 promo chips if you buyin to the main, so you are really looking at a 3% fee. Lets compare this to $45 turbo satellites where the fees are as follows.... $45 Buy-in | $42 ($30 + $12) + $3 Optional Bonus Buy. This is a 40% fee without the dealer bonus. The $85 satellites have a 21% fee. There is no consistency. There are absolutely some good value tournaments but there is absolutely no consistency.

Fees (rake) for smaller BI events are always a higher percentage ... that's why you wont find too many 'daily' tournament Pros out there. The rake is basically unbeatable even if they have an edge in turbo structures and Players that come with them. GL

PS ... Coming down for Labor Day weekend King's Island trip. Will be playing somewhere .. not sure where we are staying yet.

And the fee structure makes sense. It costs roughly the same to run a small dollar as a large dollar tourney. Certainly the tables/player and dealers/player are the same. The TD/floor ratio may be a little bit better with more players, but that based on # of players, not really buy-in/rake.

Online can have a similar % rake, but IRL cannot. I wouldn't be surprised if some low dollar donkaments where the house gets $10 are pretty close to break even- or possibly a loss leader-more an incentive to get people in the room, get knocked out, and then play cash or otherwise play/spend in the casino.

Are there any satellites into the PLO event?

Pretty good visit over the Labor Day weekend. I played both Saturday and Sunday night with very little wait to get into 'a' game before being moved into the game I actually wanted to play.

I didn't really see too much 'wrong' with the room, both the Floors and Dealers seemed to be working together and things seemed pretty normal in comparison to other casino rooms. There was a little loud banter going on at the 5/5 PLO main table but other than that it was business as usual, plenty of regs and a few drunks mixed in for good measure. GL

ok, will be checking out Jack on the October 5th. Assume uber/lyft is the easiest way to get around? Will be at a downtown hotel but not near the casino.

Check w your hotel to see if they offer a 'local' shuttle service but you may need to find another way back. I couldn't get down there until after 1000 both nights and it took some time to get off the must-moves to a main game. GL

I will be playing daytime while the Mrs is off doing UC alumni stuff. I might have a car. Plenty of parking?

There's plenty of parking. There's a garage and Ive never had a problem finding a spot. You may have to pay if you park during certain hours if its a weekday, but it will be reimbursed if you play at least 30 minutes.

New manager in place now. I hear she's been in the room more in 4 days than the last guy in a year. That can't be a bad thing.

New changes:

-Going to 5+2 rake
-No rake can be less than $3 and still full rake 6 handed.

This woman has made a great change at the same time she makes a horrible change. If you want to play headsup, no more $1 rake. This is going to crush the feeders for 2-5 and 1/2 PLO.

Also the cage is closing permanently in the room.

One of the cashiers at the main cage told me chips only SHOULD be open at all times now although the day I was there(9/23) it was hit or miss and the room was packed due to the football high hand promo.

The line is very long when it is opened. The fact a player in for many buyins has to walk 40 yards away and stand there for a long time is miserable service. And if you’re gone for more than 10 mins, you lose your seat.

They take away what was essentially a chips only line in the poker room cage and replace it by making you walk out of the room to another chips only line that is slow as hell and not always open either. Someone please buy this piece of crap from Jack and fix this.

Wtf is with all the restaurants and the little shop closed until noon. Wanted something to eat before the little morning tournament. Ended up walking over by the courthouse and finding a hotdog and hamburger stand.

Was Starbucks open? I have always thought the food situation there is terrible. The burgers are fairly good, but it is hard to ever just get a small snack unless you go to the gift shop and it closes at 8:00 PM during the week.

On other news though, the rumor is that they are changing the 1-2 game to a 1-3 game with a 100-300 buy in effective November 1. This will eliminate people from buying in for $50, but the min buy will still be similar in bbs.

Have also heard that the 2-5 buy in will go to something like 300-700, only heard that from one person though, heard the 1-3 move from several people.

Also heard that they will go back to selling chips at the table. I heard they will have 3k in the well, which would appear to me that they will have just a row of black/green chips and the rest of the well will be white unless they bring back the $2 chips or something similar for rake.

The website this morning (30 Nov 18) still says 1-2 with the same limits $50-$200. Is this change just a rumor or is there some one who really knows? Likely won't turn very many folks off , but you would think they might mention it officially?

PS .. On a lighter note, check Bravo first. Websites are usually the last thing to get changed since poker room staff rarely has access to them. They do have access to Bravo normally.

PSS ... I checked Bravo ... 1-3 is 100-300 as of Nov 1st ... 4-8 limit will have $40 min BI ... 2-5 is 200-500 and other games are listed as well.

PSSS ... Pretty sad that at Noon in a city that big that there's only 1 list of 4 ready to play 2-5 and no games running at all

How is this room doing since the change in limits? Trying to decide between visiting here or the Harrah's at Cherokee over Christmas break, but Cherokee's rake makes Cincy seem a better deal.

Much better. Over the long term, it should bump a solid 1/2 players win rate by at least 2 bb.
