This is probably the worst run poker room in the country, although I had high hopes for the new management after the old management was fired/jailed for conspiring to skim tens of thousands out of the weekly tournaments.

I'm playing PLO and I get hit by this rule:

Someone bets $400 into me on a Jc 9c 2h board and I have JJxx.

I say raise and slide $400 forward towards the pot and go to grab $1600 to raise the pot. The dealer says, "you can only raise the minimum. You can only raise $400."

"What? I can raise the pot..."

"No, you said raise and slid the call out first therefor you can only raise the minimum. I don't like the rule either but we have to enforce it. It's a new rule by the new management."

So I raise $400, he calls... the 6c rolls off on the turn and I'm forced to c/f to the PSB by the villain who got priced in with the NFD.

Then on top of that the chip runners can only run a maximum of $500. If you bust out, you have to go sit at the cage for 10 minutes waiting to get chips. You can't even play cash or exchange cash to another player for chips while waiting. It's a slap in the ****ing face.

There has to be SOME way of contacting corporate headquarters and explaining just how piss poor this poker room is run and getting these ****ing idiots replaced. I could get like 500 signatures easily.

Went there once, it was filthy. Sounds almost as bad as the junkie Belle's room we have here in BR. I hate to say it, but that crew might be an upgrade from the Belle's. At least they have good action there. No WAY it shouldn't be the best poker room in the state. L'Auberge should take notes and open a room/grab the rake.

Hope you didn't drive in from out of town.
That'd be a long, quiet ride home.

Btw - How is Coushatta's room?

What the hell happened to their new "only players call string bets" rule?

That's pretty horrible. With most rules you can understand the arguments on both sides whether you agree with it or not. But this one makes no sense at all. Maybe someone can enlighten me? For all the good things they have done recently (tourneys & promotions) they threw in a bunch of goofy rules that have really pissed off the regulars.

When the L'auberge room opens up you'll never have to play there again.

P.S. there is no room in the world as bad as the Belle in BR. How can a city as big as BR not have a decent poker room? Any word on if Pinnacle will open up a room in their new Casino?

The Coushatta room is really nice. Problem is the OP likes Omaha and it only occasionally runs in Coushatta. I was there recently on a Friday night and there was a lot going on. Tournament had about 7 tables going (not sure what they started with), there were at least 4, 2/5 NLH games and 4-5 limit games.

Pinnacle hasn't even broken ground yet. The casino/bond market has just been hammered. The numbers came out today http://www.katc.com/news/louisiana-s...odays-economy/ and it was pretty ugly. (-14.6%)

The Belle's room is a joke, "the only game in town" is even advertised on their phone system. They did start a new legit card club in BR, its legal (per baton rouge bus report.) It just doesn't have a lot of action yet. Haven't been to the belle in like 2 months, but it was dead the past 2-3 times I went.

The casino in general is a lot nicer than Isle of Debris. Only downfall is that's it's about 40-50 miles from Lake Charles. But if you fancy table games, then minimums are lower.

And why don't these rooms run 1/2NL?

I'm running on a bit of a tangent here, but I can't see any sane reason to see why Capri's table game minimums match that of L'Auberge.

I've heard an awful lot of slamming about the Isle here lately, if I ever make it out that way again soon I think I'll have to just hit Coushatta.

Also, I don't understand why L'Auberge doesn't open a poker room.

i heard they quit 1-2 nl because it was killing the 3-6-12.

also, accept the isle for what it is -- a room with TONS of action, super tilty players, and mountains of poker chips. embrace it. coushatta is not worth the drive.

Any more recent reports on Lake Charles? Are the 2/5 NL games still at the Isle? Does it go 24 hours?

As for the side tangent about 1/2 -- honestly, I don't know why any room spreads 1/2 NL, I guess they want more of the money to go down the hole instead of to the players. There's certainly no advantage to the players when it's a 1/2 house instead of a 2/5 house. I mean, playing 1/2 is a bit like playing for matchsticks, when you consider the value of the American dollar. That's just my unsolicited opinion though and no comment on the management of the Isle of Capri poker room...haven't been there, which is why I'm asking my questions.

Also, is it non-smoking, if people smoke, I'm going to wear old clothes that don't have to be dry-cleaned. Because I guess I'm just cheap like that.

Rules are better. Actually fairly player friendly. Chip runners can still only bring $500 at a time though. Action is still great, some of the best 2/5 you'll find anywhere right now. Room is non-smoking.

They hit the bad beat for $350K yesterday morning. Not easy to hit, losing with quad 5s, but builds fast because of the $2 jackpot rake. Backup is $90K.

But the place is a dump. That has never changed and never will.

L'Auberge poker room will be opening in about six months. Small, but will be nice and clean. And all the action will move there once it opens.

The average person on the street doesn't think a 1/2 buy-in is "matchsticks."

And there are some of us who aren't rolled for 2/5.

By your logic why would you play 2/5 when you could play 10/20; you must want more money to go down the hole right?

I started my live poker career at this casino in the 2/5 game, the games are amazing. I was a total noob but luck boxed my way to a decent profit over the course of 9 months. Did better than I have at 1/2 now, sigh, I miss the Isle of Crappy

I play alot at the Isle, A few years back this was the most action packed room 7 days a week. Now it is tough to have more than 3 no limit games going except on week ends. I feel that making the bad beat harder to hit by quad 5 makes players feel they do not have a favorable chance of hitting it.

When the bad beat was aces full of tens the place was always busy, but with the tournament scandel that happened alot of players do not trust the Isle and the new management has done nothing to make the players feel confident that this will not happen again.

It is the state police that enforced the 500 dollar max chip runner because of chips comming up missing, It is also the state police that has enforced how the tournaments are run. That is why there is no re buy tournaments anymore.

I have never had a problem with the dealers not once, and have played there for over 10 years, I feel like new management has hurt not helped get players in from out of town.

So the action is still pretty good on the weekends? How many 2/5 tables are going?

Do you know of a poker room rate? I called the room and they said it was only for during the week which is worthless for me unfortunately.

what up, fellas? i might be going to isle of capri for my first B&M experience (though not my first poker or live experience). I'm probly going to donk it up at their smallest stakes, can anyone tell me what they are? One poster said 'though it's not the best, it's a room filled with tilt and chips', I can handle less aesthetics for money; does this seem to be the general consensus with everyone?

I played there last week during the week. It is 2/5NL and 4/8L and grew from 1 table each mid day to ~6 tables in the evening. Certainly on the bottom end of the poker room scale for ambiance. But, I have played in worse rooms. Action is quite good and they seem to have very competent dealers. FYI - 8 hours of play gets you a free room at the hotel (during the week I believe).

When I was playing there, the majority of the players were coming from Houston/Beaumont and obviously the Lake Charles regulars.
