Did they raise the max buy-in for 1/2?

The max buy in at 1/2 is already larger than just about every other place in the area.

Would be interested to see a 1/3 game with a 200-500 cap

I would like to see this as well. I am not a fan of the 1/2 games here. They tend to play small. This may be a good mid-ground to the 2/5 which has a 1K buy in.

I'll see if they'll start it up next time I go. Just doubt many of the usual 1/2 players would move from their seats to play.

They are actually talking about spreading that exact game (along with the current 1/2) but I think its a terrible idea.

The losing 2/5 players who have too much ego to play 1/2 will have an escape hatch and a lot of them will eventually start moving down to 1/3 where they can still buy in for $300-$350 just like they do now. That will kill the 2/5 games. Its one of the worst ideas Ive heard in a while.

What they should do, is just get rid of 1/2 and make it a 1/3 $1-500 and 2/5 3-1k

Also, more absurdity they close Bragozzo on Fridays now rhats how slow it is according to their site and they still have no interest in using food runners to the upstairs restaurants to drum up some business which is where 75% of their business would come from anyways. Totally inept to not swallow their pride and cater something so petty costwise to them to keep people happy

The logistics of game consolidation makes more sense instead having both a 1/2 and 1/3 spread. It also would be nice to have a decent option for 2/5 players to have something to play if their game breaks for example and wants a specific table rather than sitting doing nothing or being sent to a bad 2/5 game and feeling like they don't even want to sit at at table waiting for a transfer. I'd rather go to a 1/3 game given there were some decent stacks rather than sitting through that waiting period ad said either doing nothing or in a bad 2/5 game

Sure, but eventually more and more of the avg to bad reg 2/5 players will start filtering down to 1/3 and stay there because their results will be better.

The 2/5 games already have more pros coming in because of the higher buy in. As more avg to bad 2/5 players leave for 1/3, the 2/5 games will become pro infested. All that does is compress everyone down 1 level. The 2/5 game will be similar to what the 5/10 used to be. The 1/3 will be what the 2/5 is now.

The people beating 2/5 right now for a decent but not great amount will no longer be able to win and they will eventually move down to 1/3 with the people they used to beat up on. Makes sense?

This:
On a conference call, Eldorado CEO Gary Carano said the diversification into new markets through the Isle purchase “demonstrates” the company’s core strength, which he cited as an “ability to acquire properties and operate them in a manner that unlocks previously unrealized upside performance.”

Carano said Eldorado is assessing marketing and promotional spending across its casino portfolio and looking at other ways to “optimize” operations

Does "operate them in a manner that unlocks unrealized upside performance" mean
reducing costs by shuttering restaurants, layoffs, and reducing promotions?

and they shouldn't. just played this property for the first time Friday night/saturday morning and the 1/2 game was the softest thing I'd have ever seen in my life.

If my first 6 hour experience here is the trend of what 1/2 plays like in the area or even if it's just at Isle.... lord have mercy.

My first time there too Friday and Saturday night.
It was pretty soft - like, yeah maybe softest place I’ve played in a while.

They (any room) should not get rid of the 1/2 game. They shouldn’t add the 1-3 either. If it’s not broke, don’t fix it. Room is far from broken.

Btw, I do agree with Mike Starr about food at the table he mentioned a while back. Who wants to smell someone’s greasy hamburger and fries while playing? Imagine fish and chips?

The peak time 1/2 (evenings and weekends) is super soft. Daytime during the week is massively nitty. Still easily beatable but the stack sizes and pot sizes are tiny.

Remember though...its also snowbird season. The summer is a whole different animal.

Anyone familiar with this little tournament series they have going on?

Is this $175 100k worth it? is the main worth it? (assuming they run this every year)?

Define "worth it?"

The rake is steep, the levels are ok, the dealers are very hit-or-miss, the players are mostly rocks ...

BUT, as with all tourneys, it's totally worth it if you make the final table. I made the FT of the 175 tournament last year. Paid for my Vegas trip and then some.

Very worth it. Yes high rake but you earn some comps by swiping your players card in at the tables.

Welp, season over and things are getting quiet. Traffic is better at least. Anyone play in that 20/40 O8 game? Might hop in that occasionally if it continues through the summer.

Please explain Mike. What time of the year would be best for1-2 grinder trying to build a roll.

In S. Florida, the snowbirds come down from Canada and cold northern States for the winter. They have 2 homes so obviously they have more money than most people. They are rich older guys who are mostly not very good at all.

So the best time of year to play poker in S. Florida is Nov-March. I recently broke my win rate down by season and during snowbird season my win rate is 57% higher than regular season.

1/2 is relatively soft year round, but another thing Ive noticed is that while the 2/5 at the Isle is softer in the evening than daytime....the 1/2 is light years softer in the evening than daytime. Its literally "night and day" different.

If a person "time" selected as well as he table selected he could drastically increase his win rate.
