Anyone playing at the isle anymore? What's the tables/action like?

weekdays its pretty slow usually one 2-5NL game until around 7or8pm then another may open 4-8LHE and 1-3NL may have a game going during the week not always, on the weekends there will be plenty of games but the ation varies from table to table usually no more than 5k on the table. Try out the new room at lauberge on weekend the 2-5 games can have 30k on the table easy.

Played the New Year's Day tourney at the Isle and some 4-8 at Lauberge.

Lauberge is the superior property EXCEPT for the poker room...poker room is not really separate from the rest of the casino and is rather small. I've always liked the actual poker room at the Isle, but the rest of the casino itself is a no-contest loser to Lauberge. A shame if they move it to the other boat.

and no problem notyours still a lot of fish over at the isle but not near as much $ so its double edged sword i guess, and yeh i love lauberge be there friday-saturday evening

Haven't been lately, but word is that they are moving poker room and will expand it. I believe its going to be to left of current poker room, back of the escalator near the bathrooms. Place is just too dumpy and depressing to me and action at GN is fine.

Yes, they moved the poker room behind the escalators, next to the bathrooms. From the escalator to the poker room, it's a non-smoking slot machine area. So, you still get some white noise from the slot machines but barely noticeable. Most importantly, you no longer have to deal with the secondhand smoke and excessive noise. All the tables are brand new, with brand new felt. I should've counted but I'd estimate about 12 tables. On Saturday, 1/30/16, there were 2-3 tables of 4/8 limit and 4-5 tables of 1/3 NL. Maybe 1-2 tables of 2/5 NL but I can't remember. The staff mentioned having more MTTs in the near future, but they're still working on that.

How is the daytime 4/8 game? Looking to have a free day when in Houston in April but have evening plans with the Mrs.

How early does the 4/8 run? Any good in the AM. Figure I can play from 9am-3pm and be back for dinner in Houston (2.5 hours?)

Sounds like you're going on a weekday..? Obviously going to be slower on a weekday, daytime. I just checked Bravo (Tuesday, 11am) and they have 1 game goin. 4/8 with a few on the waitlist. Bad Beat still hasn't hit, so that might be a factor. And more n more ppl are finding out they renovated, so hopefully gets busier. I'd suggest checking Bravo the week before your trip, during the times u plan on going, to get an idea. GL!!

I ended up calling both rooms in the area. I don't think Capri poker room even opens on weekdays until 10. Think I called on a Thursday. L'auberge is open but the day I called the overnight game had broken and they were expecting to start around 10.

What the heck. The Mrs has a work project, I might as well make the drive over. Hopefully donk some NL at L'Aubege until Capri opens the play 4/8.

1/3 NL should be soft at lauberge! I have a feeling isle will become more popular from now until April. Especially if the bad beat jackpot hasn't hit. They also have random specials everyday like high hand, queens cracked, etc. My suggestion: double check bravo and/or call ahead before u leave houston. Don't want u to waste a trip. But as you saw, there are a few casinos in that area. If there's a need, they all do call in's for waitlist (hour max), so call when u pass beaumont or orange. Hope u find a game and GL!!

If I only play for 2 hours its worth it just to say I'VE BEEN THERE. I'm unlikely to ever again be anywhere near there with a free day. Add to my poker room list while we are adding the Astros to our baseball list (16th out of 30).

Ok. Friday is the day. I'll be wearing Detroit Tigers or Mich St gear. Probably play at both rooms as it looks like the 1-3 gets started earlier than the 4-8.

Any call ahead option in either room?

At Isle of Capri. Nice little room. Don't ever recall seeing 4-8 with 1-2 blinds.

Nice little room. Seems like a lot of local competition for a not very big player pool.

Played on Friday, $50 splash pots hourly, hot dog and chips at noon. Otherwise no food table service.

On lower level, non-smoking floor. Smoke on Friday was pretty light to get from the entrance to the escalators.

Bathrooms are directly off the room. Nice.

Other than the smaller than normal blinds, the other notable things is that I was the only stranger. Folks were nice.

Play was mostly loose passive. Rake is brutal $5 + $2. Average rake pretty close to the max, maybe 4+2. Got to be pushing $20 per player per hour on average. Guess they do a good job of pushing the $2 back via promotions. Players seemed happy.

Drive was pretty easy from Houston. Around 2.5 hours from downtown with some minor slow-downs.

gonna go check out the $150+$15 tournament tomorrow. the guy I spoke with mentioned if u pay $180 u get the dealer's special and start with 15k. 20 min levels. re-entry for the first 2 hours. 30-35 people last few weeks.

I know Houston poker has pretty much killed Lake Charles, but this dump of a place is getting a facelift and will carry the Horseshoe brand and be a Ceasar's property. Hopefully the plans include a poker room and we can get some WSOP Circuit stops down the road.
