Be careful with Shelbyville game, for a while they had an insane rule where anytime a pot broke $400 they would pause the game and have you fill out tax forms (seriously). Not sure if it's still that way or not.

Monday/Wednesday Knights of Columbus at 71st and Keystone is one of the best games in town. By the time I got there at 3 last Wednesday they had around 10 tables running (multiple 1-3NL, 2-5NL, and 1-3-5 PLO). The 2-5 game usually has plenty of money on the table and all the games are good.

Saturday the American Legion Carmel has my favorite game in town. It is a 1-2 cash game where you pay the rake up front (230 gets you 200 in chips). At first I thought the rake schedule seemed steep but after playing in it for four years and realizing how much more rake you pay in standard games I have found it to be a great spot. It is a much smaller player pool, usually only 1 or 2 tables but is well run and a great spot. They are not playing this saturday but look into it for the future.

There is also a game Friday nights in Noblesville that is very popular, and Lebanon has games most weekends, you'll have to call around the Legion/Moose/Eagle though as I don't know their current set up.

Thanks for the information. I actually file my poker taxes every year so paperwork wouldn't matter to me although it does sound pretty stupid. The only night I can play is Friday and Noblesville is only 30 minutes away. Who would I need to contact about getting information for that Friday night game? Are these safe games? I'm always a bit nervous about home games.

Coming in for the New Year's weekend .. I think we are staying near 31 and 465. Anything going on in that area. I see a post were A.L.-Carmel isn't running this weekend? What a shame ... anything else within reason? GL

So on the way up here, we stopped at Cincinnati Jacks. It was a pretty decent place: several games of $1/$2 and even some $2/$5 on Friday. Unfortunately I had some of the worst luck I've had live capped off by losing a big multiway pot that would have got me close to break even holding AT on a TT6 rainbow flop losing to 96s who got runner runner flush that didn't pair the board. I was 95% to win on the flop but that's poker.

Last night I went to Indiana Live in Shelbyville and I actually liked it. I've played most of my poker online so eTables don't discourage me. I like getting 50 hands an hour which was about what I was averaging. But unlike online, the game was SUPER soft. I still don't think I ran great like getting ATs allin to pocket 4's having 15 outs after the flop (9 flush cards plus 6 overcards) and bricking both streets. Then another pot getting a set allin on flop and villain does hit 1 of his 9 flush outs but I can't hit one of my 10 outs to pair the board. That was about $300 or so that just casually slipped away but I probably made that back and doubled my buy-in within the first 3 hours. At one point I made back all the money I had lost in Cincinnati but ended up leaking some at the end when I couldn't catch anything against a whale. Again, that's poker.

As horrible as I ran both nights I only ended up down 75bb or so which I considered a huge success. With just some average luck, both rooms could be pretty profitable if my experience was indicative of normal.

There was a sign @ Indiana Live that said if you win a pot over $1200 that you'd have to get a tax form. That wouldn't happen often in a $1/$2 game. And, I pay my taxes anyway so it wouldn't matter.

The only thing I didn't like about Indiana Live was they were Nazis about not using your cell phones. It seemed excessive and dumb to me but it made me concentrate better so it did have a plus side.

The Jack is one of my 'sweet' spots so I'm sorry you ran bad there.

I was just too tired to drive to I.L. Sunday night. Glad they bumped up the tax form to $1200 .. used to be $400!!

Didn't see much of Indy on my 'return' trip ... but I'm really glad they finished the 465 & Meridian 'mess' in September as I can't imagine what it was like during construction.

Almost talked my wife into buying a family membership to the Children's Museum but she didn't bite so I'm not sure when I'll ever get back down there. GL

I played at IL on saturday and had no problems with headphones/cell phone throughout the day so it probably matters which floor people you get. Though I will say the lady at the cashier was incredibly off putting and strange.

Two hilarious things happened (really three). The least funny was a guy with 60 calling my 43 dollar 3B pre then snap folding flop. The other two are equally funny to me, one guy folding his last $1 into a $50 pot on the turn and another guy who couldn't figure out how to use the (stupid) e-tables shoving all in pre on accident with 82o and getting called by KJs which held.

The first time I was using my cell phone at the table, a lady politely came by and said I'd have to "step away" from the table. So, I did.

One time a few hours later, some jackass said I had to be by the chairs, not just away from the table. The players said that guy is routinely an ass.

Again, I'm just not sure what the big deal is because every other room doesn't care. It's not like I was talking. I was recording my buy-in amounts as I was topping off.

Hey guys I was looking for an up-to-date list of places to play in Indy. I know the KOC still does Monday and Wednesday cash games. What other places have cash games on the other days of the week? Really would appreciate it!

See previous posts about American Legion in Carmel ... I couldn't find anything on the Indian State Government site about charity poker so I'm not sure there is a shortcut. The Carmel game didn't run New Year's weekend or I could give you a trip report myself. GL

Yeah, I saw that one too. Wanted to know if all the games in this thread are still going? I know the KOC game on the southside closed down. Appreciate the reply though!

Ok, reporting back with what I found out if anyone's interested. Knights of Columbus Northside Monday and Wednesday. Legion off of Keystone on Tuesday. Moose in Noblesville Thursday and Saturday. Elks in Lebanon on Friday. Eagles in Lebanon on Sundays. Not sure of the start times, but it's a start to a solid Indianapolis area poker list. If anyone wants to add anything else I'd appreciate it!

Great work! Where did you get the information? I wish I still lived down there as the rules for charity poker in Michigan have been restricted the last 4-5 years.

I do get down to IN for work, would be nice to have access to a link to places throughout the state. GL

I asked the dealer and players at the KOC game. Gave me their numbers and said to text them if I needed any more info.

If you venture to the noblesville game let me know. Been debating going recently but I've never been.

Just add a mini review of the Indiana Grand. Yep - they are electronic tables but if you've ever played any online poker at all they are easy to use.

Saturday has a $75 tournament that starts at 2pm. From what I've seen there are usually around 50 players. 40 second play clock. Takes about 4 or 5 hours to cash.

I've just started realizing about these 'Elk type places' that have legal poker. Thanks for the list above.

The Marine Corps at 3006 N 16th in Terre Haute, IN does this. (812) 466-7677. 7pm every Thurs is a $25 tournament. Cash games on Tues & Thurs.

I think it's the 3rd Sat of every month there is a $65 tournament at the Elks in Brazil, IN. Not got the full details for that one. Will try and find out more.

Any more to add? Not the greatest games but better than nothing.

So I've been playing the games pretty regular for the last few months here's a quick breakdown... visit my buddies site indycards.com for more info. All these games are legal and generally have cops providing security.
Monday and Wednesday 12-12 knights of Columbus 71st and keystone: biggest game gets 1/3,2/5, and usually 2 tables of insane 5/5 PLO

Moose Lodge 2138, 52 and keystone, starts at midnight when knights finishs and runs through Friday night then restarts Sunday:
Smaller room usually 1-2 tables PLO always runs

Broad ripple legion 52 and college I believe, teusdays 12-12: only higher stake, lowest is 2/5 and only place in town that get a 5/10 going...also has the PLO game

Moose Lodge Noblesville Thursday sat and maybe Tuesday: generally 12-2am, great room 1/3 and 2/5 , 240 tourney once a month

Speedway has a fun 1/3 and very low stakes tourneys see details above

Those are all the games I've played it but there is a Carmel and Fishers game at legion which are supposed to be decent, there you pay a 30$ entry fee and they don't pot rake

Indiana grand is okay but I generally prefer live cards and I can't donk away money at BJ at the other games lol

As you can see .. posts here are few are far between. I would give them a call to confirm the hours and maybe see how they handle call-ins. Wouldn't want you to have to wait around to get into the game. GL

New to Indy, checked out most of the local games, but my favorites so far are the 2138 moose lodge and the 52nd Legion game.

One thing I've noticed is that people REALLY want to play PLO, but most are under-rolled for it, so they just play it really short....like a $200 buy-in for 5/5. If you've spent any time in California card rooms, it'll feel familiar. The smaller rooms usually have a cop on site, which is great. Some have even brought in food.

Otherwise, there's 1/3 NL everywhere, 2/5 in some, and 5/10 occasionally at the 2138 moose lodge.

You might see an influx of new players from Fort Wayne ... heard the room up there was raided recently. 2-3 year investigation into the owner .. might have missed a tax payment or two. Might be too far to drive for them.

I have no clue what the scene is in that area but they have been showing up in Michigan a bit more than usual for sure. GL

Looks like I might be headed up this way. How is the rake at these charity games? How deep do they play? Nice to see that they are at the actual charities instead of "Joe's Charity Poker Room" where you don't know if any charities actually ever see any of the money.

Prob a long shot, but any games up in Lafayette?

Looks like VFW Post 1154 has poker on the 3rd Saturday of the month, open to the public. BUT poker might get overruled this month if they have a St. Pat's 'something'

I really need to find on the Indiana State Government site where the poker licensing is located. It would make things so much easier ... GL

PS .. Not much there other than Purdue and a few manufacturing spots. Are you a guest speaker for a Theory of Mainstream Poker Mathematics symposium?
