One thing a lot of folks commented on was that the 50K guarantee for event 1 was not mentioned on the flyers that are mailed out and the only way a lot of people know of the events and information is via the flyers that are mailed out....

I really don't feel bad for you Horseshoe.....Hollywood had a 2 day deep stack in March that costs $345 to enter and has a 250K guarantee with Days 1 and 2 on Thursdays and Fridays and they pulled over 1800 entrants. Granted, that tourney allowed re-entry on each day as well, but still only about 10% typically re-enter. For them to get over 1500 entrants and yours to pull a tad shy over 200 is ridiculous when you're buy-in is $200 and theirs was $345 in similar markets (Cincy and Louisville close in size, similar proximty to Indy, Lexington.....sure Hollywood is fairly close to Columbus, but Horseshoe isn't that far from Nashville or St. Louis).

We actually added nearly $13,000 to the Prize Pool to account for the $50,000 guarantee. I agree that we should have had way more players than we did, and posiibly it was because it was not mentioned in the flyers. I have been scratching my head for 4 days now trying to figure out why the turnout was so low. We offered the same event last month with less advertising and no guarantee and drew 187 players on Thursday and had over 200 registered when we forced to shut down on Friday. Perhaps it is becasue of the 2 recent shutdowns that people stayed away this time.

Hollywood runs a great tournament with their deepstack events and they have drawn spectacular crowds for all of these events, but they are also running these during their WPT events and that is a huge draw. We draw similar fields during our WSOP events because it is the cheapest opportunity for many players to be a part of thsi excitement.

Nobody is asking you to feel sorry for us, we took a chance with the guaranteed prize pool and it didn't work out this time. We will make some changes and try again. While both staffs at Hollywood and Horseshoe would love to have all of the business, it ultimately comes down to making sure that we offer the best experience for Poker players at either location. With the shutdown of online poker, we are seeing a lot of fresh faces in our casino for the first time and we will do whatever it takes to make trhese players enjoy their time at the tables.

If anyone has any suggestions on what we can do to make these experiences better, i am all ears and would love to hear your suggestions. Thanks

I think noting the guarentee in the flyers would have definitely helped. I've been down there for some of the freerolls you've had to kick big events and those get over 1000 players and are a total zoo. How do all those people know about the event? You do make a good point on the long shutdown maybe leading to a smaller turnout as it only gave you a few days to promote the event "in the room" and so on.

Otherwise, since I'm not from Louisville (I'm from Indy), I'm not sure what, if any local advertising you did. But, maybe an ad in the Sunday paper there and up here in the Indy Star over several Sunday's leading up to the even would help immensely, I believe.

I doubt hardly anyone up here in Indy knew of the event unless they were linked in to you via Facebook, Twitter, flyers or word of mouth and I know a lot of players up here play in some of the local charity events b/c they see the ads in the paper and they usually draw well with bigger buy-ins (and re-buys that go to charity), horrible structures and juice, etc.

I assume that you are someone in a position of authority at Caesars, just based on this post and if true you should ask a mod for an under-title.

I, personally, would love to see more games spread during tournaments like, plo8, HORSE, razz, stud8, badugi (lol no chance I know). But I would think plo8 or horse would actually be something players would be interested in. And obv. not taking so much of the top would benefit players.

You forgot to mention that the 13k was "stolen" from the BBJ.

IIRC, they ran their voucher promotion for more than a month prior to their WPT events. Two days a week, you could earn a $100 tourney voucher for every eight hours of play so many of the regulars had multiple $100 vouchers from play and non-tourney players were selling their vouchers for about $80 so the number of players that bought in for cash out of their pocket is significantly smaller.

You need to follow protocol and touch base with the site owners to post as a HCSI rep. They will ban you if you do not follow their rules.

should just consult me on tourney schedules... i guarantee I could make better attended schedules. Reducing the rake and putting the rake on the schedule would be very nice.

Here is what it says for the 5/12 event. 1a. No Limit Texas Hold em $200.

I don't even know how that $200 is broken down. is it $170+30(a ripoff obv), or $180+20(a bit better). That all should be clear in the schedule.

oh and the whole bust day 1a and get back in day 1b is so dumb. you have your customer already in the building, let them reenter right then and there. Oh and starting day 2 with same stacks is super dumb.

Here is what I feel would be a nice schedule for both the players and the casino.

5/12 1a NLH Re-entry* $100k gtd $180+20
5/13 1b NLH Re-entry* $100k gtd $180+20
5/14 NLH $40k gtd $200+20
5/15 NLH $20k gtd $200+20
5/15 4pm NLH Turbo $10k gtd $135+15
5/16(M) NLH Deep Stack $20k gtd $178+22
5/17 NLH Seniors $135+15
5/17 4pm 7-card Stud $135+15
5/18 NLH/PLO $15k gtd $200+20
5/18 4pm Horse $135+15
5/19(Th) NLH $25k gtd $200+20
5/19 4pm NLH Turbo $10k gtd $135+15
5/20 NLH $50k gtd $300+30
5/20 4pm Mega Sat 10 seats gtd** $135+15
5/21 NLH Main Event $100k gtd $690+60

*Players may reenter til dinner break at reduced rake. $190+10 on every buyin after the first. Players who bust day 1a may start day 1b.

** Unraked Rebuys at $135 allowed to players with zero chips til the first break. No addons at break

I'm always here to help with ideas for tourney schedules or anything else for the poker room. Without online, I am now at your casino a few days a week playing in the big plo game wed/fri(we may start playing monday too) and trying to get 1/2/5 plo going on the other days. That reminds me, need to up the min buyin on the 1/2 plo game, preferably to $1000 but even to $700 or $800 would be helpful.

A better poker rate could likely help too, HSI has one of the higher poker rates around for tourney schedules and it is pretty gross that I can't even come down there for a 26 hour session(12pm-3aTues/12pm-1amWed) and get a poker rate for cash games during the week.

plo8 would get more entrants than pineapple. HORSE might even get more, all the others are just what I want to play.

And deepstack nl is prolly the way to go for the masses though.

Have you ever considered spreading a 5-10 or 10-20 mix game at HSI? Something like horse or 7 game?
