Yes, there were 146, paid 14. 100ish sounds reasonable, but don't have any idea how the satties have been drawing.

I have not stayed at HSI since it has changed over from Caesars...I was comped two free nights, but just wondering about the hotel.. I have read a few negative things about it, but curious if anyone has been recently and could offer their thoughts.. Im going to be down for some of the Denny Crum Poker Open, so wont be in the room that much I dont imagine, but I dont want to stay in a rathole free or not.

I wouldn't call it a rathole, just an average hotel that charges non-average prices, I definitely wouldn't turn down a free stay.

It's 10x better than Hollywood Cincinnati. I found it to be a decent room the couple times I've stayed, maybe I have low standards for hotels.

Thanks for the replies...I have stayed at Hollywood, so if its 10X better than there Im sure it will be fine.

The only negative thought I have about the hotel is it's so freaking far from the casino.
And, nothing has changed since Caesar's times at the hotel, so...
One thing to mention though, it's easier for me to sleep at HSI than at Hollywood in Lawrenceburg IN (ex-Argosy) due to less noise from the air conditioner. Hollywood has noisy indoor units.
And, of course, the walls are thin everywhere, so don't forget your earplugs.

P.S. Wi-Fi isn't free!

Didn't really do too much of a search (just glanced through the last page or so), but do they still collect a time-charge rather than a rake? Last I remember it was $7 per 30 minutes...

No. I believe they stopped that a couple of years ago. Not sure what the rake is as I haven't played there since Oct. '11. It is a rake though, which I like because you don't pay if you don't win.

Agreed. Thanks for the info, I'm moving to Louisville in about a month and am looking forward to having a (relatively) near casino.

I think it's 10% up to $5,$6 on weekends. Can't remember for sure though. Lot better than the time rake though. A month from now is better than now for you, living in Louisville. The traffic is all screwed up with Ohio River bridge repairs.

Another quick question for all of you Horseshoe regulars. Does anybody know about how many runners the Saturday noon has? I was thinking about heading up there and playing depending...

This might be my first time playing in the WSOP Circuit.

Do you guys know if you can get cheap or discounted (or free?) rates at their hotel if you play in their circuit events/circuit main event?

Otherwise would it be smart to stay in Louisville and/or are there other cheap places to stay in Elizabeth?

Any details on what to expect at a WSOP Circuit event would be great. I've played 1 year at the WSOP in Vegas and have been playing 1/2 nl at my local casino (Hollywood) for the past couple months.

Thanks

Well, you can forget free unless you are a table game or slots player. Poker rate will be available, but still expensive for the whole series. Closest other hotels you can check will be New Albany, IN or Corydon, IN and of course Louisville. Actually travel and lodging is the big bite for anyone trying to travel the WSOPC.

motel 6 georgetown indiana is the cheapest.......and most spartan hotel. wsop circuits the play/action is alot like the tournaments at hollywood. Structures are a little differentt but not much....hollywoods are more like wpt structure than wsop but at the low buy in its not much different except the blinds may move a little different when you get down to the 20 25% players remaining till in the money. In fact you will see alot of the same faces.

The horseshoe doesn't do much at all with rooms, unless like rarerabbit says you play alot of slots, or a table game whale.....They don't need too ...they fill the place on week ends with close to $200 per room night gamblers....

Circuit is fun ....cash games are great during circuit.....

This USED to be a nice cardroom. Wow - its gone downhill.

Getting a guys roadtrip together and called this property. They only have 1-2 NL and 3-6. Gosh - just like a dumpy casino pokerroom.

Then I asked about poker room players discounts on hotel room rates midweek. Poker room had NO info and transferred me to the hotel desk. They said $89. NO discounts for poker players.

Let me repeat that --- they give NO discounts on hotel rooms for poker players. This has to be a real embarassment to the other Horseshoe branded properties.

Maybe this property should change its name to Circus Circus or El Cortez or something.

My guys and I are going to Hollywood Lawrenceburg instead.

Can't disagree on the hotel poker rates, but the casino surely offers more than 1-2 and 3-6 unless things have changed drastically in the last month. Can't speak to the weekdays, but the 5 or 6 Saturdays I've been there in the last 6 months always had a 30-60 stud game going, as well as 2-5 NLHE and PLO games.

They're offering $59 rooms on weekdays and $120 on weekends during the WSOPC iirc

For the WSOP Ciruit, quite a few events have blinds that have lengths of 30/40 or 30/40/50/60. Anyone know how that would work?

If you read the structure sheets on wsop.com they explain that at the bottom usually day 1 or a fixed # of levels at 30. Then another set of levels at 40, etc...
