The rake is the same, some of the prize pool goes to Denny Crum's Charity. I don't play tourneys so I maybe incorrect.

Yeah, last time I was there I asked about this game, apparently the regs got tired of limit holdem and dropped it from the mix and no one is willing to play razz.

From what I was told it does still run though.

Hi Everyone,

I'm going to be outside of Chicago for one night this week and I'm trying to see if I can realistically get a night of poker in while I'm out there. Here are my questions:

How long of a drive is the Horseshoe from O'hare airport?
How long of a drive is it from the Horseshoe to Oakbrook Terrace? (this is where I'm actually staying)
How long is the typical wait for a $2/$5 NL seat on a Wednesday night?
Is there smoking allowed at the tables? If so, how bad is the smoke usually? (I'm a non-smoker)
Is there a better place near Chicago to play $2/$5 NL on Wed. night?

Thanks in advance for any insights.

At Harrah's Joliet the rake is 6.00 plus 1.00 for the bad beat. Elgin is 8.00 with no bad beat. Horseshoe is clearly the best place to play in the Chicago land area. However, the games are far easier in both Elgin and Joliet.

What do you all think is the softest game 1/2NLHE or 1/2PLO here?

Technically there is no 1/2 PLO, most times it runs with a $5 button straddle so it plays like a 2/5. But in fairness if you are remotely competent at PLO 1/2/5 game there is a better option than 1/2 NLH. The 2/5 nlh game there is not soft on the weekends in particular, you probably just found a good lineup which can happen on any night.

and if I or a few others are playing you will have $10 straddles on the button, so yeah it plays huge compared to 1/2 nl. I have had 4k stacks in front of me 3 different times($500 max buyin)... after a few hours the game starts playing pretty big.

Yeah me too. Not really worth paying half the main event's buy in just to stay at the casino. You already have a cut going to charity, 75 juice, 20 dollar add on, and who knows what % withheld for staff.

It's good to see that the action at HSI on the weekends hasn't changed a bit. I used to avoid the place like the plague, but now...

Good seeing Steamboatin there too!

I went this weekend and the only bothersome noise was coming from some player (who supposedly often makes this noise).
