1. Played in the HORSE event. The staff did not understand that you change the game every 8 hands in an event such as this. When I asked the lady running the event about it, I was told, "This is the way all WSOP events are handled." I explained that I play in the WSOP HORSE events in Vegas and it is not how it is handled there. She went on to say, "If you don't like it can just leave." About an hour later she came out and announced that they were doing it wrong and would be changing to exactly what I said it should be. I then said, "Hmmm...I wonder where I heard that before?" She then asked if I would like to be thrown out.
2. I am playing 2-5 PLO and when seated I asked the floor person what the min and max buyins were. He said 1K was the max. So, I buyin for 1K. An hour later a player is seated and buys in for 2,500. I called the same floor person over and ask about this. He told me it was 1K when you sat down and it is 2,500 now that he wants to play. Different rules for the regulars is not an appropriate way to run a room.
3. I am playing PLO again...later session....two buddies work together as a team in a hand. I bet pot with a dry ace on the river in a three way pot. This is after the first player had checked. The next player is thinking about calling. He looks over at his friend who had checked. He friend nods to him and shows the he is going to muck. Then he calls with a 9 high flush.
Quickly I say that I understand what has just happened here. Two good ole boys just screwed (not the word I used) the out of towner. One of the two guys immediately gets up and leaves. I have no question what went on there.
So, for all of those reason, no more trips to this poker room for me. If you decide to go to this place, please watch yourself. They will cheat you in every way they can to take care of their regulars in my opinion.
fwiw, i played the midnight tourney, and a little 1/2 this past friday night to saturday morning. I also felt that the floor went out of their way for the players they were chummy with (regs obv) and was downright rude and nasty to anyone he didn't recgonize.
An example...its my first time in the room and I sign up at the cashier for the tourney. I then get my card and walk over to the floor and ask very politely "Excuse me, can you point me to table eighteen." He said "second table" and made a general move with his arm to the right side of the room. I said " I'm sorry which row?" He says very rudely and without looking up "I pointed to it, its over there, just go look on the table for the number." Never once did the floor look up at me and treated me as a nuisance rather than a paying customer.
However, the action was GREAT, so I will defenitly be back to play.
