I'm interested too. I'll be there tomorrow and ask to start an interest list. I also agree that the $100 buy-in does little to incentivize me to play the 2-5 game.

Re: Horseshoe Casino - Hammond, IN

Sit down with your 100 or 200 at 2-5 PLO...get it in good once or twice and you are sitting there with a full stack plus. I have seen many sit down with 100 at that table and work it up. The game is so much more interesting than NLHE.

The 2-5 PLO usually plays pretty weak preflop...most times not a lot of raising/reraising pre...so you can see flops for $5.

I have mixed feelings about the HS spreading 1-2 PLO because it would likely kill 2-5 PLO for now...on the plus side it would bring in new players and the game would go more often. Personally I prefer 2-5.

Re: Horseshoe Casino - Hammond, IN

Jeremy has told me they don't want to spread the 1-2 PLO as it would hurt the 2-5, and they want to consolidate it so that at least one game gets going.

Thanks for the post TRS. I was thinking of buying into the 2-5 short, but I was wondering how aggressive it would be preflop. If it is passive, it certainly is doable. If not, it would be a steep hill to climb. Maybe I will have to try it.

is it safe to assume that the seat will be awarded to a player (who hasn't been sitting out) on a table where the promotional dollar is taken?

would that be all the tables except 20/40 (and up) LHE, 5/10 (and up) NL and other higher stake games like HOSE?

any interesting stories regarding the give away?

You can not even be dealt a card unless you are a current player without a missed blind.

It is pretty much all the games on the main floor that take the promo dollar except 20-40.

The drawing tonight was pretty crazy. When the table was selected, there were 50-60 players standing around watching the table give out the high card.

In response to everybody asking for a 1/2 PLO; I think this is a great idea. I'll be up there for the majority of the circuit and would love to play this game when I'm not in a tournament, please get this going!

I'm working on it. If we allow a 1-2 PLO the max buy-in of the 2-5 would probably be higher.

Re: Horseshoe Casino - Hammond, IN

That's pretty cool Jeremy. I don't know of a lot of places that spread 1-2 PLO (anywhere in the country), so that's great you are at least willing to look into it. I know the PLO people will like it as it should bring more players into that game, though I don't know if it will be any better for the casino. If it works out you could definitely be seen as a trend setter. Please let us know if you decide to give it a go.

Thanks

"WIN A SEAT", TEN HANDED GAME EXCEPTION !!!

Obviously, there is nothing wrong, if a "Four Tier" player / high limit player wants to play in a low limit "Win a Seat" (qualifying table), to have a shot at the 5K seat, if s/he shows up and gets a seat at the USUAL NINE HANDED GAME, IN THE NINE HANDED HORSESHOE ROOM, like anyone else. In fact, plenty of them are doing that.

At THRE MINUTES BEFORE the three p.m. "drawing" today, floor person Patrick, pushes up a tenth chair to my table, for what he said was a "Four tier" player, three minutes before the "drawing". Player posted, played one hand, then quit after the drawing.
( That managerial display of arrogance was so blantant, there is a good chance, the "Four tier" player was actively involved in another game, in the high limit section....would love to see the tapes on that issue.)

BTW. If you are in Horseshoe Hammond, during this promotion, and all the tables are full, request that a table be made ten handed, so you have a shot at the 5K seat.

The high card will receive a seat to the WSOP circuit main event 10/31 worth $5150. So for one seat every six hours for the next seven days comes to a total giveaway of $144,200. if someone wins the WSOP circuit event this promotion could be worth hundreds of thousands of dollars.

Re: Horseshoe Casino - Hammond, IN

I do not play 2/5 PLO but would happily play 1/2.

Obviously PLO is gaining popularity and many players want to learn. Being a 1/2 NLHE player, there's no way I would put more BR on the table of a game I am just getting the hang of then the game in which I am best.

What actual effect will this have in the existing games? Well, it's not just 2/5 PLO, but also 1/2 NLHE. It would seem to generate more rake than a 1/2 NLHE table. Won't there be like 3x more players from 1/2 NLHE than 2/5 PLO dropouts?

If it were up, I would certainly go tonight even to get into a game.

"It is "Four tier" or "Four Seasons", something used by Harrah's, which is a card above "Platinum". Anyway, the term I kept hearing was "Four tier".

As if 3/6 players aren't getting slapped enough, with the $1 promo deduction from every pot, $5 rake and $1 toke. This is an official promotion apparently sanctioned by the State of Indiana gaming commission. Where is the promo rule governing which table will become ten handed, to accomodate a LAST MINUTE high limit player, who decides s/he wants in on the promo? Probably, no such rule...That was just an arrogant move by Horseshoe floor.

I have to say you have a valid beef here. Just having your chances drop sucks, but to have the floor blatantly say it's because they are a high roller?

What nerve!! Money talks and gets privileges but I wouldn't think you could change the horse in the middle of the stream. I hope we hear about a ruling on this one. If not, I guess we all have the same option any time.

Do you know if there was a list of players waiting to get in the game? If so, then they could have asked to be seated as the 10th player in a game also.

Did they leave your game 10 handed after the person left the game?

Maybe I'll go up to the high limit area. Buy in, pay a blind or two, maybe win, maybe not, maybe walk for a while, but order a sandwich - eat it and leave. LOL

No. This involves Harrah's management ambushing some 3/6 players, in something which involves a potential 5K seat.

"Poker hierarchy"? I place no blame on the high roller. It is not his poker room.

For your information. In real life circumstances, some instances of preferential treatment afforded players, has more to do with them dropping green and black chips into the palms of floor persons, than any notion of "heirarchy".
Some floor persons have little more than utter contempt for poker players in general.

Re: Horseshoe Casino - Hammond, IN

Ha ha. I knew this would come up. I saw it all happen - complete with the couple of guys at the 3/6 complaining....

Okay now, before this becomes a whatever-fest, let me tell you how I saw it from the "other side."

I play with the aforementioned higher-limit player all the time, having done for a couple of years back at Resorts. He's a nice guy. We're not close or anything, but we know each other. I let him off the hook from a $8K pot, b/c I was too aggressive just a couple of hours ago.

7 stars is a level higher than the Diamond card at Harrahs properties. I think that the deal is that you have to cycle something like $300K+ over the course of 6 months to get it. As you can imagine that's a good amount of money, and given the industry that we are talking about (casino), people that play higher, get better benefits. I'm sure that you see that they have a 7 stars lounge in the high-limit table game section. They also get guaranteed rooms at any property, and a host of other things that I'm sure are out there.

I came to learn that in the poker room(s) THROUGHOUT the Harrah's system, that these players get some special treatment. When these players get to the poker room, they are immediately put on the top of whatever list that they want. When it comes time to move from the feeder to the main game, they get to go first, too. In a 9-handed game, they are given the option to join the game in progress, thereby making it a 10-handed game for that player. I was victim to it once, when I had to sit at a a short-handed table, while he moved in front of me.

Now, before you all start calling this some kind of injustice, stop and think.....What industry are we in again? And who gets rewarded in this industry based on their play? yes....casinos and high rollers.

Listen. I play HSBJ, and sometimes I get kicked off a table because a high-roller wants to reserve the table. Sometime I want a seat at a concert, and maybe I have to buy one, while the highroller gets a free seat. At the buffet, you wait in line, and Diamond players+ skip it.

I'm sure that you all get what I'm implying, and if you don't please read this again. This player was full in his rights as a "preferred" guest to make a table 10-handed. If I, or you had the opportunity, you would do the same, too. Now, I'm sure that you're still going to disagree, understand that it's a rule that pervades the whole system, so go ahead and battle against that. The ruling would be the same in Vegas, Tunica, etc....

Moral of the story: Become a 7-stars player at Harrah's and you, too, can skip the line.

It's your emotional energy, you are free to spend it anyway you choose.

One my second or third trip to Tunica, I was playing at the Gold strike, this was before the ugly ass burgundy felt and they still had smoking at the slots around the perimeter.

Smoking cigars were strictly prohibited in the poker room and I saw a regular get tossed because he lit a cigar back by the slots and wouldn't put it out.

The next day, I was playing $10-20 limit and started to sit out because I had a really good cigar and wasn't about to hotbox it or take a chance that it gets tossed while I was involved in a hand. I tell the dealer to deal me out because I wanted to smoke my cigar. I happened to be sitting with my back to the slots and he said something on the order of "It will be okay, just put the ashtray by the slot machine, just lean back from the table and be careful of your smoke."

I sat at the table doing just what the other guy got busted over. I am certain there was a history with that gentleman but I am also willing to bet, I would have been treated differently at a $3-6 table.
