Its in Hammond ****ing Indiana. It was always the defacto "Chicago Casino" because of its location, but there was never any doubt that if Illinois ever allowed a real "Chicago Casino" someplace better, that place was permanently screwed.

SE Chicago and NW Indiana are home to some of the biggest shitholes the United States has to offer. Give people options to gamble elsewhere, there's absolutely no reason to ever go there again.

I prefer going to Hammond over downtown Chicago or even Des Plaines. The area may be a shithole, but it is MY shithole and I love it for the way it is. I feel more comfortable here than in the uppity areas north of Chicago.

Everything is cool. We avoid Horseshoe Hammond on "general principal". Some of us see C.O.O. of Caesars Entertainment name ends in a vowel. Same for Chief of Caesars Indiana Division and same for Horseshoe Hammond DECADES IN PLACE Poker room manager. All their names end with a vowel. Caesars properties reminds us of something out of the movie "Casino", including parts of movie referencing control of politicians.

Mr decades in place poker room manager I will never understand how he became manager over Jeremy. Then they finally get another good supervisor running tournaments with Kevin and he fires him to.It was funny when soto used to have to deal cause the lists were so long and he dealt so he didn’t have to listen to complaints.one dealer always used to joke(I think)that he was sleeping with his boss but honestly that would explain how he kept his job.

Weirdness Horseshoe Hammond - Time the nice looking female chip runner got hired and went from poker room chip runner, to working in casino main office within three weeks! - What was funny - She occasionally returned to poker room, clipboard in hand, making sure things were in order!

Is Horseshoe Hammond the only 2–5 game in the country that still has a max buy-in of $500? I don't understand why they don't increase the buy-in to $300 min, $1,000 max. Especially now that 1–2 is $100 min, $300 max.

Bellagio is the most obvious example of a 2/5 with a $500 max buy-in.

cross-posting from the Rivers forum:

The mayor is trying to push through the Bally's agreement by next week. I found a draft of the agreement, and good news for Chicago folk - a 20-table poker room is planned for the permanent casino. See Exhibit B-1.

https://www.scribd.com/document/5745...its#from_embed

Exhibit B-2 lists the planned components for the temporary casino. While it doesn't mention poker specifically, it does say "a mix of slots and table games to be determined"

When did they change that? Finally did something right.

Odd, no tournament enthusiasts in here mentioned WSOP 2022 Circuit excluded Horseshoe Hammond poker room, from twenty-two or so circuit events.

WSOPc is not up to full speed this season, but I don't think anyone who tracks HH would've expected anything different. Between HH and Poto that drops 4 'series' off the calendar and really puts a dent in the Midwest poker tournament scene.

It's not like there's no interest .. FKeepers MSPT 3-Day 1s event had over 2000 entries with over 300k for first last weekend.

WSOPc typically uses a 'pack' of traveling Dealers .. I've got no clue how many of the pre-CV have returned or if they are still trying to grow the numbers before expanding the number of tournament stops. GL

I think it's about time to start taking bets on what month will they officially close down the room for good.

The smell of that casino alone makes the place unbearable
You go to the bathroom and just hope some loser doesnt have two smokes in his mouth while peeing
Fun experiment, next time you're at any other poker room, say these words, "ugh, the Shoe . . . " and scrunch up your face
and someone will finish the thought with "I know, the smoke smell is out of control"
Even in the new poker room area that smell somehow finds its way all the way up there.
The minute you get in from the parking garage the smell hits you like a wall.
I'm pretty sure the reason they cant sell that place
is potential investors go in to tour it and think, "hard no from me, this place is a dump"
And it is located in one of the least appealing areas possible.
Lord help you if your car stalled out before getting back to the skyway
or even worse if you werent taking the skyway

How many months does this room have left?

This may have been the premier poker room in the midwest five to 10 years ago,
but that smell alone and the area it's in, kept me from going there more than twice a year
And each time I went, I remembered why I wouldn't go there.

One positive thing I will say, the room itself was beautiful

Oh come on. Horseshoe ain't that bad. The smell doesn't bother me. And Hammond is perfectly safe. I drive home by taking Indianopolis Blvd west to Ewing to 95th street. Never had a problem. It may be sketchy, but I prefer to be in this sketchy area instead of an uppity affluent area.

Looks like a 6 hour wait for Omaha today at Rivers, so if you have less time that that goto the Horseshoe.

They will get it down soon.More dealers are leaving the shoe for rivers. They are now the lowest paying casino in the area and everyone is bailing.Soto can go and deal then since he does nothing there anyway.

Glad the casino business, Horseshoe Hammond is still there. Excellent outing for octogenarian, nonagenarians and centenarians day trips.
God bless them. Some drive themselves to the joint. I saw one driver parking in lot whose passenger was about fifty years her junior!
