Rivers is completely non-smoking, so one doesn't have to walk thru London fog to get to the poker room. And if I understood the news reports correctly the room will be on the second floor away from the casino proper. These are all pluses.

So, my feeling is why not wait until Rivers opens? I haven't play live for almost a year and a half. What's a few more months wait?
RCG games are fun and good (and the lowest rake in the area), though you don't get the complete casino rat degens randomly deciding to play.

GVC also pretty wild games at times but it is in Elgin.

I'd bet on Rivers rake being higher than 6+1. I was surprised 5+1 lasted as long as it did. I'll probably do the same thing as most people and go where the games go.

Can’t both complain about a dealer shortage and a rake increase

Horseshoe Hammond changed BB Jackpot, rake, and buy-in. We will assume all those were approved by IGC. $2000.00 an hour house rake from ten tables is steep for that lower income casino neighborhood. What IGC think?

All those poor people from that neighborhood got $600 per week for 80 weeks for doing nothing. They gotta blow through $50,000 somehow. Horseshoe and IGC might as well take a bigger cut.

What time of day? Check Bravo App and you'll see what's going on and waitlist counts. GL

Haven't played at the Shoe in maybe 7 years, but after spending some time at the WSOP a few weeks ago I have the live poker itch.

Do they still have the 5/10nl game with 1500 max? Or the 20/40 LHE game which ran on I believe Wednesdays? Looked a few pages back ITT and didn't see anything on this.

I took the advice of one of the guys above and looked at the Bravo page, but it's only 2PM EST on a weekday so it's too early for a bunch of stuff to be running.

Let me know if there are other games at 2/5+ within a reasonable drive from Indianapolis.

No. Zero now. Before COVID 20/40 was 100% dead, 5/10 maybe 1 table that broke early 3 times a week

5-10 your best bet is RCG, they often have it running at weekends and occasionally in week. There's also a 2-5-10 that runs sometimes and the 2-5 can play fairly big sometimes.

I was at the Shoe from day1. In 2008. It was a great place. They had great poker room manager, then came Soto. They had great Circuit Event. A look at the Curcuit schedule recently posted show no stop at Hammond. This place is closing the writing is on the wall. Thanks Soto

Hey Chicago-ian tournament Players .. This Saturday there's a Black Chip Bounty, $250+100, at Firekeepers down I-94 at 1pm. 20k chips with 40 minute levels.

With this being 'black Saturday' and the last Sat of the month the casino should be packed with drawing hunters. Good food, drink, cash games and they just opened 'Tower II' of the hotel .. quick get away.

My guess is that they'll have 180 entries, possibly more .. that's a lot of Bounties to snatch up. GL

Is it steep? Do we know the profit margin involved?

So you're not allowed to travel to play poker? hmm

FYI, there's a full slate of tournament Players who traveled from Milwaukee to Firekeepers, even all the way to Toledo, OH when a decently sized, good structured tournament was held along the 'I-94' stretch. This tournament was not advertised very well and deserved a boost in the Chicago area

BTW, the tournament drew 301 entries and paid 12k up top .. certainly worth the trip considering the 30k in bounties that was chopped up as well. GL

Sorry didn't mean to come across like it was a knock, 2.5 hours *additional* travel time (at least for those from west of Hammond) is just a long way for most (though I admit I am still a relative n00b when it comes to the midwest, having only lived here for 4 years).

Fwiw for me personally I would have considered it under different dates etc
