I was looking at the WSOP website and didn't see a schedule for the Hammond event despite it only being a bit over a month away and later events being listed. Anyone know what's up with that?

There may be a hold up with Indiana Gaming for some reason, which wont allow them to post anything that's not approved as of yet. This has happened before, especially if they have tweaked anything from a previous visit. Even changing a structure can cause delays with Gaming for the whole package. Most WSOPc events have the same schedules since there are POY and rings at stake, but going from state to state can create unforeseen issues. GL

Might be a perfect time for some of you to trek 'north' to come see the newest poker room in the Midwest ... celebrating it's 1-yr anniversary. I know some of the Chicago Players have come through before and it's also pretty rare for a PLO tournament to be offered.

Gun Lake is holding a PLO tournament on September 28th at Noon. $250/210 (15K chips, 30 min levels), 2 re-entries if needed with surrender option as well as an optional $100/90 (10K chips) add-on at the end of Level 4 (end of registration). A last minute late reg/re-entry (with add-on) will still garner you 41.5bb at 300/600 at 2PM EST. GL

They posted the schedule on their FB page yesterday.

I'm potentially coming here for the first time for a few days for the Circuit stop in October. I know there isn't a hotel on property (which is unfortunate). Any hotel recommendations?

As far away as possible .. Will you have transportation?

There are plenty of hotels along I-94 for several exits that all provide a route to the casino but they can be anywhere from 'zero star' (literally) and up. If you can stand the extra drive I think the Portage exit has 'newer' hotels ... don't know your standards. There are literally 3-4 story complexes where I've heard that folks just sleep in their clothes on top of the bedding.

I'm not sure if there's a WSOPc thread on here .. maybe search for that? GL

PS ... don't speed or run a red light either. You may meet a friend or get some mail looking for cash.

Might not be a bad idea to stay near Chinatown and catch the shuttle that leaves every hour (or every 2 hours late at night) if you don’t have a car. Also easy public transit to downtown.

I would be using a car. Don't have too much standards, just not something that's too seedy. Don't want to break the bank either, since I'll barely be in the hotel room. I wish the Horseshoe had a hotel, since I'm a Diamond member for Caesars. Haven't heard the best things about Hammond, so I figured this would be a good place to find out more.

On another note, I saw a picture of where the WSOPC events are played here. Looks pretty awesome!

If any of you guys are frustrated by the lines at "The Book" there (sports book) too long, check out Ameristar. I was in and out of there on Saturday in like 2 minutes.

Not sure if this is the right place to ask? But has anybody ever played Windy City Poker in Mokena? It seems to only run on Saturdays and has a variety of cash and tourney. I am thinking of checking it out tomorrow and just wondering if anyone had any input or thoughts about it being worthwhile or not?

I've heard the games are excellent there. Horseshoe was off the chain on Saturday.

I love the Horseshoe but wish there was a bit higher buy in for 2/5. I'm not comfortable at 5/10. GVC is $1000 now and RCG is table captain or uncapped.

If I knew what GVC or RCG was I could comment more. I think from a business standpoint lower BI is the right choice for most rooms. Even a larger room like Hammond may choose to 'protect' their Player pool.

Most places I've tracked that have tried to open up larger games have seen them fall off fairly quickly. It does stink for Players who are willing to play larger right away, but it just drains the bankrolls of a lot of shot takers too quickly.

There's a massive difference in 1-2-5 PLO ($500 max) and 2-5 PLO ($1500 max) even though both of them are red chip games with the same 'rules' for opens/straddles in our room.

It's way more important to have games available more often than to have larger games available 'in general'. GL

Guessing GVC is Grand Victoria Casino and RCG is Rockford Charitable Gaming

Yes sorry. Meant Grand Victoria and Rockford Charitable Games. Also the 2/5 players at Rockford Charitable have been playing $20 double board bomb pots every half hour. Mostly fun group and some crazy action. Can't do that at Horseshoe but wish we could.

Horseshoe Hammond - BBJ (Quads Deuces beat) has been capped at $50K. That other so-called BBJ (Quad Jacks beat) is hyperbole.

Per a call to the poker desk ...

NL BBJ for 2222x through TTTTx losing is $50K, re-sets at $50K

NL BBJ for JJJJx or better losing is 'Legendary' $100K, re-sets at $100K ... you don't win both BBJ, just basically a doubler for losing with a better hand.

Motor City went with a capped BBJ and has since moved away from it. Plenty of debate over which is better for similarly sized rooms. GL

Anyone feel like the games are drying up here? Out on a Friday night and 2/5 games are absolutely awful.

Could just be a function of the holiday weekend and all those 'extra' days people get by having work off or what not. Players could be out of town as well.

From what I've heard in WMich the games down there are just fine. GL
