Re: Horseshoe Hammond (Hammond, IN)

Can't speak for Hammond, but lots of venues are capping or feeding less promo funds to the BBJ in lieu of HH promos.

Another reason could be that they might be 'out of formula' if Gaming came in for an audit. That's a huge stretch on my part, but possible. GL

first time for "frozen". it's their house. they may change the rules if they lose money. change the rule, same as they did with Ivey.

Is this the best option in the Chicagoland market? Moving to Chicago (Printer's Row) at the end of the month.

2nd week "bad beat" jackpots still "frozen", while "bad beat" $ drop per pot continues. That joint has fine print which covers everything it does to extract money from poker players.

Yes, definitely. Especially if you're in Printers Row. I live in Wicker Park and the Shoe is about a 35 minute drive without traffic, 45 minute drive with traffic. It will be 5-10 minutes less for you if you're driving. There's also a shuttle service that runs from Chinatown (https://www.caesars.com/horseshoe-ha...hotel/shuttles)

Welcome to Chicago!

I'm sure this has been discussed ITT over the years, but does anyone have a tried and true route coming from the city that avoids the skyway toll? Every time I pass through, I get pissed off lol.

Re: Horseshoe Hammond (Hammond, IN)

Not a 'city side' reg, but the routes from Wicker Park are to jump off I-90/94 at Soldier Field/I-55/95th and take Lake Michigan Drive (41). I've taken the LMD route and it was fine but currently it adds 20 mins to the 'fastest' 28 min route via the Skyway. Routes vary from 34 to 48 minutes depending on where you cut across. I assume the shuttle just takes the Skyway since it may have a different pass and/or it's just part of the cost for the quickest route.

Talk to your local Uber/GrubHub/Pizza guys to see how they maneuver around the south side.

Is there more of a safety concern along 41/LMD? GL

What about this route? Any idea what the drive is like in the circled area at the bottom?

I really enjoy the Lake Shore Drive to South Shore Drive route. You get a great view of the city and the lake coming back in. You do go through the old steel plant which can be deserted at night so a bit freaky but I don't see any safety issue screaming through at 70mph as you would on an empty road. Only place I felt a bit unsafe was at the pointless traffic light where there's nothing around -- seems like a perfect place for a car jacking at 2am. Going through the residential areas can be a bit slow if you're stuck behind a slower moving car but seems plenty safe -- it's just a residential area.

According to Google Maps, with no traffic the Skyway is 24 min while LSD/SSD is 30 min. No point in I94 if you're going into the city as that's 40 min to the loop but maybe the best way if you're branching out west. Can easily connect from LSD to I90/94 via I55 once you get to McCormick place if need be.

Appreciate it as well. Thankfully I knocked out getting an I-Pass early and the girlfriends work pays for it. Can't beat that.

Thanks for the warm welcome.

Satellite view looks like a standard side street.

That route is equal parts commercial, single family homes and industrial. You get caught by a raised bridge maybe 5%. That's my preferred route when driving.

3rd week "frozen", makes a total of $60K pulled off BB payouts, whenever (one of two) BB jackpots gets hit. Additionally, the "freeze" increases player price of BB "drop".

Re: Horseshoe Hammond (Hammond, IN)

Back in Chicago, plan on making another appearance. Not sure if it'll be tonight and/or tomorrow night but I'm guessing it'll be both nights. If imagine ill need to habe a winning session to justify a second $100 round trip uber.

One thing I can say on my past experience (~10 times), the player pool isn't the most friendly.. which is fine, just an observation.

Hardscrabble Indiana area. Horseshoe, Hammond casino (no hotel) exists in isolation on "wrong side of tracks". Blue collar is opposite "tourist" area.

10/20 has been running a lot recently, probably 2 or 3 nights a week. It usually is a 5/10 game that gets converted on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.

Re: Horseshoe Hammond (Hammond, IN)

played last night a little 1/2.. 2/5 they wanted to send me to looked weak and the table ended up breaking so glad I didn't join it.

table line up was interesting..
seat 1 was a middle eastern guy
seat 2 me
seat 3 asian middle age guy
seat 4 awkward socially bad player but nice guy
seat 5 typical bad player with friend standing over him
seat 6 old guy that extremely over valued his hands
seat 7 middle age guy.. viewed himself to be good.. think he over valued his own abilities
seat 8 middle age guy that was drunk with a huge stack (1.4k) and seemed to be out of line a few times
seat 9 nothing worth mentioning, older guy.

nothing real interesting occurred.... made a few bucks but nothing noteworthy.

One funny thing that did occur was when seat 1 won a hand from seat 3 and said "if I would have bet 100, you call?" while he was stacking. Seat 3 was not happy about that inquiry and said you already got money from me want do you want? Seat 3 kept saying things to seat 1 and both guys had extremely bad/broken english and both we talking to each other but looking at me in an attempt to agree/take their side.

I told them to leave me out of it. I couldn't make out what they were trying to say anyways even if I wanted to take a side. Thought the whole situation was comical.

^ Looks like you had the united nations at that table.

Now that I think of it - does the Shoe have player lock boxes?
