No phones allowed, you must stand up BEHIND your chair to use it.
And you wont be dealt a hand unless you're sitting.

There's no way to defend the little rules at GVC, so I wont.
They'll tell you it's an Illinois Gaming Rule
All the pit degens figure out how to get by without using their phones at the table. Even if it just gives the appearance that they actually care a little about game security in the poker room there's some upside to that rule imo.

I'm a firm believer shouldn't let cell phone use at the table all you ask for is a slower game and collusion

The Shoe has allowed people to talk on the phone DURING the hand - while they are in the hand - for a few years now. This is silly. It doesnt happen all often, but it doesn’t need to happen at all.

As far as collusion, what’s the difference if player XYZ texts player EFG while sitting from their seat or standing up behind their seat...nothing. If people want to collide, they’ll find a way. Doesn’t mean they’ll be good at it.

If anything, I think they need some sort of 1-orbit penalty for those people that have to be reminded EVERY hand that “...it’s on you.”

There are a handful of regs who are constantly head-down, buried in their phone, oblivious to when cards are dealt or action is on them...

There are a few dealers who just don’t put up with it and will deal the cards, then swipe the cards up before the player even looks up - fuggin love when that happens. The player doesn’t even know they missed a hand

The difference isn't from the person sending the text. It's about the person receiving the text. Anyone in a hand should not be able to look at a screen. Even so, short of banning headphones, easy enough to set up some sort of text to speech. Like you say, cheaters will find a way to cheat. But as with most rules and securities, it's to prevent good people from doing bad things, as bad people will find their way. I do believe the WSOP bans headphones once ITM, or at least they do for the Main Event.

Can definitely get on board with banning phones if player is the hand...let’s not get our hopes up, though.

FKeepers is typically very phone strict .. was playing the 'large' PLO game the other day and a Player was also playing on an App. Decent hand came up and he needed to tank but was also trying to keep up on the phone as well. Another Player called 'clock' after about 45 seconds and a couple of phone 'taps' ... Tilt was very evident immediately and the opponent in the hand told him that he would tell the Floor that it hadn't been long enough as of yet.

After some barking with the 'clock caller' he ended up folding and then also lost a huge pot on his phone for 3x the live pot. I had to go but got word that he was still pissed, spewing and, of course, on tilt more than 90 minutes later. GL

My first time playing with Drunk Tom was at 1/2 I sucked out on him to win a big pot and he berated me and swore his head off. I proceeded to win 3 all ins in the next hour against DT and left up $750. I like Drunk Tom.

Hey guys - going to be in Chicago this week and next, wondering if anyone knows of a good way of getting out to Horseshoe Hammond from the loop? I won't have a rental car so may have to take a bus? Anyone have any idea much an Uber is - the estimate function on their website doesn't return a quote for this route for some reason...

UberX from downtown is around $35-40 no surge. Similar in return, maybe a bit more.

The Illinois Gaming Board doesn't write any of the game rules, but it does require casinos to follow their stated internal controls in which they describe their rules. What this probably means is someone wrote the rules a while ago, probably before the 2000s poker boom or before smart phones were ubiquitous. Then because poker is such a small portion of their revenue, no one ever bothers to take the effort to submit updated internal controls to the IGB.

So because changing the rules to keep up with times takes effort, they probably just never bothered.

That depends on how good of a Player you are ... bad Players get robbed on arrival ... good Players get robbed at exit. GL
