I called to ask about it (it's a 2.5 hr drive for me so getting my ducks in a row). Host confirmed what OtherMoachist said:

- 50/100 Sun/Wed/Fri
- "officially" starts at 3pm, but game usually gets going around 4-5pm
- mix is fluid, determined by players that start the game, generally favoring split pot games (which is pretty standard for live mix IME). Expect O8, Stud8, Badacey/Badeucey, etc.

FWIW, I'd play the **** out of a 20/40 or similar mix if it were closer to home. No demand for it here in Indy.

I dont know what your financial situation is like, but I do know that The Palmer House isnt cheap. Dont take the shuttle if you dont mind spending a few dollars for an Uber ride. It will be faster and usually a better environment. The fact that I am a part time Uber driver in Chicago has nothing to do with this

The hotel might be a business expense whereas the poker related expenses are not. I had to get pretty creative to cover my business strip club expenses back in the day depending on what kind of receipt was available. GL

Game went last at night 3pm until 5am. 14 games in the rotation last night, so pretty much every limit game they allow us to play - If its approved in Indiana, we played it. Be there to start the game and you help choose the nights mix.

My suggestion is to go once, get to know the couple players who usually get the game going, and they will text you each Wednesday, Friday, Sunday about whether the game will go. You will know if a 1pm, 3pm, 6pm start, whatever, is going to happen before you start driving that way. The game is now in back private room, so very easy to find. Even if you didn't intend to play, but wanted to come in and get on the text list, you can easily. You could even call the floor, give them your cell and ask to have them get it to the dude who normally gets the game started. He'll likely include you in texts. Makes it easy for everyone and you don't have to show up and hope it goes.

I called Friday evening to ask what the mix was for future reference. At the time it was HORSE + 2-7TD + Archie + badeucy and/or badacey (can't recall). Was surprised all 3 stud mixes were in.

I would love so much to play mix at Hammond but 50/100 vs WSOP bracelet winners is not feasible in my current situation. If we could even get the 30/60 to run next Thursday as it's supposed to, I could probably swing it, but 15/30 or 20/40 would be best. I'm off work next week so let's get the game going!

P.S. How many handed is the game? Because I pretty rarely see a wait list so is it just the regs playing short waiting for a fish like me to hop in?

You can beat me. I have no bracelets. Three guys do and I've never sat at a table with all three of them at once.

As summer winds down there will be more waiting lists. Summer is slow. We played 8 handed much of the night, but by late fall I've waited first on the list for 3 hours before. It's 8 handed, but two sit out during 5 card draw games.

No regs are sitting around playing short. Everyone has enough money on the table - this isn't NL. Guys just like to play.

I love that mix, personally. I've never cared for any game that starts with "crazy" or "super". Must be my leak.

Thanks for all the info, OM. To be clear, by short I meant shorthanded not short stacked.

To be fair, in mix games I think we all enjoy playing short handed. So much more action.

I personally prefer short in any game. I just meant there's a big difference between a 4 handed reg game and a full game with no list complete with non-pros. But either way it shows up on Bravo as no list so I can't know which it is.

I prefer any game that doesn't have scotty brooks at the table

Saw AA vs KK vs QQ vs TT all in pre at $2-5 yesterday

Flop came K Q 9 (king in the window deflating the other three instantly)
Turn came like a 5 of spades which gave the 10-10 player a gutshot and the only flush draw of the four players, so he was the most "live" of the three hands that were behind going into the river.

River was a blank.

Guy sits down just to wait for a PLO seat and wins $2K or so

I'm surprised no one else posted this yet

On another note, I went here for the first time yesterday since I only live 20 minutes from Grand Victoria and I gotta say, other than the room being much more beautiful, nothing else was really any better than the GVC to make it worth the longer drive. Being able to check your phone without getting up was nice, but the cloud of smoke you have to walk thru when you leave the room for any reason is disgusting. Does 75% of Indiana smoke? Most everything about Illinois laws and politics sucks, but the no-smoking indoors almost makes it worth it.

For years I always heard about "the shoe" and had built it up in my head. At least now I get the joke, "playing at the GVC is like playing in a basement"

Overall, not bad, but not worth an extra 50 minutes of driving during non-rush hour and during rush hour? fugedaboutit.

Similarly i saw AA v KK v QQ two weekends ago and Q in the door...nothing to sweat on turn or river.

I’ve also heard good things about the games at GVC but the rules are absurd. Apparently you confirmed no phones while sitting, but I’ve also heard no sunglass or hoodies. That’s true?!

Was wrapping up a positive session yesterday holding 56 on B, flat the opener, 4-ways ...
Flop .. 789x .. checks around to me, bet 1/3 pot
Nit call ... shorty, but still a 2.5x raise, shoves ... chip leader wants to play for 'all the chips' .. back on me ..

I evaluate and fold (and show) to set off the table in a tizzy ... "What if it had been v JT and/or 9x9x and the 9 comes? .. What are you thinking?"

As it turns out my equity was higher than it could've been in that spot .. Turn, blank .. River, blank .. chip leader shows JTo (Not sure what Nit folded to the shove, but shorty shows black QQ)

These hands don't come around very often, but this fold/show was good for my long term business, eh? GL

hoodies can not be up, but you can wear em with the hood down.
Sunglasses are allowed
No phones allowed, you must stand up BEHIND your chair to use it.
And you wont be dealt a hand unless you're sitting.

There's no way to defend the little rules at GVC, so I wont.
They'll tell you it's an Illinois Gaming Rule

There was something on Twitter I saw .. Not sure the entries, but I'm pretty sure they said 9 were moving on. Is it a 20% advance thing? GL
